Are there new terminals to handle contactless?
They use Verifone MX915's and it says to tap device. I've seen them at DD in two cities around here and of course they are all the same franchise owner so they must have updated all of them around here already. I'm sure they have plans to add to them all locations so before long yours should have them too.

They've added them in our area, too. Right now, I still use reloaded-via-in-app-Apple-Pay gift cards so I get their DDPerks, but I've noticed there's an alert about a new app coming - perhaps it will be like Walgreens where you have an NFC-based loyalty card?

Has anyone tried the new terminals yet?

Looks like they've upgraded here locally too. I used AP this morning it worked fine. The terminals even have the AP logo on them. Let's hope the app update DD keeps notifying us about adds the NFC loyalty card to Wallet.

Not sure how many Dunkin' Donuts support Contactless, but I used it at one today. So I'm betting many do by now.
I used Apple Pay at DD for the first time yesterday in downtown Cincinnati, and for some reason the cashier made me give her my security code on the back of the card that was being used in order for the transaction to go through. Not sure if this has been a problem for anyone else at DD or any other place using Apple Pay. It defeats the whole purpose of Apple Pay. I've never have had a vendor ask me for this info when I've used it elsewhere.

A friend of mine actually had the same thing happen - did it work with the security code from the card?

Yes it did work. Just annoying and felt like the use of an NFC payment was being viewed with suspicion. Not sure if this is a franchise owner issue or a DD issue in general.

I did not have that happen to me when I visited DD, what card did your friend use?

I think she used a Discover card - since any DD/Starbucks spending is done by reloading gift cards, I haven't verified myself, but I can test others and report back eventually. What card did you use?

For what it's worth, I have seen some weird issues with Discover and Apple Pay - Meijer's gas pumps don't like mine (even after removing/re-adding card and on multiple devices) - they prompt "credit/debit" after a swipe and fail with a "Declined" on both. At the same pump, my aforementioned friend's Discover works on Apple Pay without the prompt. They're both It cards, just my account is a few years older. I've contacted Discover and they didn't even see the attempt on mine that declined, so they haven't been able to help, although a few people have tried all they could think of. There have been a few other instances where some things seem buggy as compared to Visa/MasterCard/Amex, and I'm guessing it was because Discover joined later.

It's a shame, as they generally have some good perks and I've always had good customer service experiences.

I used a Visa Card at DD and it did not ask for any codes, unless that location mentioned just got the MX915's and they had not changed the configuration to not ask for that or its a Discover bug.

Did it light up on top of the iSC250 and say to tap and show the contactless logo?
No lights but the lower part of the display, below the total, presented the symbol so I opened Apple Pay on my watch and paid. Easy. The person was familiar at the store.

Did they use Verifone MX915 (http://www.verifone.com/media/413260/MX915_1_lg.jpg) or Ingenico ISC250 (https://www.poshighway.com/assets/images/ingenico_isc250_1.jpg) for customer facing equipment? The latter has a hardware green light that lights up once NFC is ready to be used. I think some Autozones may use MX915's while others use iSC250's.

Ingenico ISC250 and there very well could have been a light but I did not focus on that fact. I need to run by in the next week for some oil so I will watch when I go then.

Visiting my mother, we went into a CVS, and I was bemoaning the fact that while I have all my prescriptions there, I preferred shopping at Walgreens where I could use Apple Pay. The manager said that he was prett sure they'd enabled Apple Pay at that store, and it was definitely on at his other store. Can't wait to try it.

There's also a chance that he saw people using Samsung Pay and thought that the others would work too. Hopefully NFC does work now though.

Today, I went to a Puma store at Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets and I was able to successfully use Apple Pay.

Also, several Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks in my area are starting to accept the Apple Pay.

At Starbucks, are they using the mx915/iSC250 terminals like a lot of other places? I'm guessing then you lose out on any Starbucks Rewards benefits (maybe eventually they'll add an NFC-compatible "pass" like Walgreens).

They're using the same one as Subway (VX820).

Also, reload your Starbucks card in-store by tapping your phone and you'll be able to get your rewards AND use Apple Pay. But really, I wouldn't be surprised if their upcoming prepaid debit card (from Chase) ends up getting Apple Pay support.

Anyway, I'm curious to see if anyone's had problems with Apple Pay at Petco recently. My card declined today when I attempted to use Apple Pay there and Chase couldn't tell me why. My local Petco also apparently has chip support now but I don't know if that's related.
