With all due respect, why would you have even upgraded to begin with?

I had a first-gen 12.9 Pro....So the upgrade for me was huge. But let's be honest - There are very few gadgets where you are going to see an initial leap in difference going from just one year to the next. That's why most people only upgrade every 3-5 years or perhaps even longer. Apple (and other companies) always have to balance their new tech and feature-set with the fact that most people will always be running older hardware. So it always comes down to a balance of what "cool new stuff" you can offer up, countered with making sure that the majority of people can still enjoy it.
This! Apple is waiting for a decent chunk of users to get on the M series and then you'll see more features trickling down.

Agreed 100%. I too had first gen iPad Pro, so this one is a massive upgrade for me as well..

By making multitasking and file management as good as MacOS.
Of course there is room for additional improvement...But why does multitasking and file management on the iPad need to work just as well as on MacOS? When it's been made abundantly clear by Apple that the iPad is NOT a Mac and will never be designed to fully replace one?

Jumping from 2017 vintage 10.5 IPP to 11 inch M1….not that hard a choice with a bit of hardware future proofing having the 1Tb/16Gb/5g. iPad OS was never the critical factor.

Agree, apart from The new ios 15 wallpaper, the rest has been trash ?‍♂️
You don’t like the new multitasking, app shelf or whatever they called it? I use iPP like computer half of the day so having basically Spaces is a welcome addition. Also the Focus feature, when you’re in work/school you will have the Home Screen you need at that moment.

Apple never promised us any of the features that all of you are claiming they "obviously" had to implement.
This! Apple is waiting for a decent chunk of users to get on the M series and then you'll see more features trickling down.
Keep dreaming.

Yes, iPadOS will keep getting more and more features. But exactly ZERO(0!!!) of them will be legitimate MacOS parallels or replacements.

Apple is only forced to do big things with iPadOS when iPads stop being the best selling tablet computer on the market.

In other words, iPadOS will be "throttled" for ever and always as today's WWDC just cemented so boldly.

iPads just sell too well for Apple to do anything truly new and amazing with them. And that's all there is to it, the demand is still just too strong.

This forum/site is not everyone. Most people who own an iPad don't really give a crap about Pro features.
They do if they’re buying the pros. Dont think the average joe spends over double the money on the pros if they aren’t looking for some pro features as well lol

I’m a average person, and I bought the iPad Pro not for the pro softwares at all, but for the pro hardware. Also I love the screen size. I know people in my area here who has iPad Pro, didn’t buy it for the pro whatever, they buy it for the amazing screen size. And since there is no iPad 12.9 non-pro, there isn’t much choice for the real estate of screen size.

Hey OP @cupcakes2000, how are you feeling now? :p
No ipados monitor support is a hard fail.

Safari extensions and tab management for iOS and ipados is a plus.

Ipados multitasking will need to be tested.

app drawer in the dock is a plus for multitasking any app.

Bloody widgets everywhere better not remove the already good enough and hideable widget implementation the iPad has already.

Continuity from Mac to iPad looks interesting

some quite cool stuff, including some (maybe limited) development ability with playgrounds.

Didn’t go far enough, never does. But I’m not unhappy. don’t care about apples pro apps, would be cool but I use Luma for video and I’m not a musician. I definitely didn’t want macos on the iPad, but like the apparently greater implementation with sidecar etc with continuity.

interested to see the iCloud+ stuff, especially the ‘tor’ type safari thing.

What the heck were they thinking about putting 16gb RAM into an iPad for then?

This is where all the FCP rumours stemmed from, and it didn’t deliver….

So again my question is, why on earth put a heap of RAM into a device that will never utilise it?
Still love my iPad, but totally agree with what you’re saying, maybe they had a crap load of M1 chips and ram lying around, Tim Cook will do anything to cut cost.

If only he could put on a decent event, iOS crap iPados crap and the rest crap
