What the heck were they thinking about putting 16gb RAM into an iPad for then?

This is where all the FCP rumours stemmed from, and it didn’t deliver….

So again my question is, why on earth put a heap of RAM into a device that will never utilise it?
That is the question. They added external monitor support too, but it‘s only fully utilised in few Pro apps, like LumaFusion. Maybe Pro apps will be able to utilise the RAM in similar way? This is WWDC after all, I’m sure it will a hot topic for some devs.

That full monitor in LumaFusion has been there for some time - it's not iOS 15 related. LumaFusion is just taking advantages of capabilities already in place. Other apps could too but have generally not chosen to.

Sorry for confusion, but I never said external monitor support is a new feature. Past feature that got fully utilised by only a few Pro apps. Same might go for more RAM.

I remember a dev commenting on it at one point, saying most don't see the effort of full monitor support as worth it, given Apple's own home screen and app implementation of mirroring.

Not impressive no. Small usable new tricks. App development on iPad is however a huge step, but only relevant for a few.

I think MacOS brought more cool feature to the iPad with the new continuity feature. Seamless use on one trackpad and keyboard on all devices is really useful.

True, for videos Airplay works flawlessly across every app I’ve used. But unless Apple will make a step to utilise iPadOS to different aspect ratios (over Airplay and directly) I don’t see fullscreen getting much wider support from devs. Also it would give less reasons for people to buy another device, like Mac Mini ?‍♂️.

YouTubers, journalists. Expect now videos of "10 reasons to return M1 iPP" followed by "10 reasons to keep it". Also "M1 iPP after 6 months" (spoiler:it still works).

I wouldn’t be returning it as I am sure it’s an amazing device, but I would not have bought it in the hope of something being released to make it the device I was hoping for. Fairly sure if something was announced today you’d be able to get a new IPP by the time the new iPadOS is released.

My fear was extended (not mirrored) multiscreen support only on the 2021 IPP but my hope was for it on all iPads. Neither of which happened ☹️

So 8gb-16gb ram for pretty much iOS 14 with a new wallpaper, can’t make this stuff up ?‍♂️???

guess that’s what happens when you don’t have competition, you drag out adding new features and release one every 10 years.

Home Tim Cook and the rest of the team get fired after this crap show dumpster fire of a event.

Start giving people what they want. ?

If only android was half decent ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️

Just when you thought they couldn’t scoop any lower. ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️

With Apple company value and revenue going through the roof, Cook will likely get a raise. This won't even be a bip on their bottom line.

Exactly, the only thing he cares about is revenue, stuff our users, let’s keep holding back features they want and release them every 10 years.

He's doing exactly what the Apple Board of Directors want him to do - increase revenue and shareholder value. From their perspective on current sales, users are happy.

Fully agree with you bud,

but because each team brought one crappy “innovation“ to the table, everyone gets $100,000 Apple shares each…

Absolutely crap this WWDC, I used to get all excited and sit down with the other half and watch all the great things coming in the new OS….but this was that bad I even switched it off, seems every year it’s getting more and more boring.

It’s like they”re fed up bringing great ideas to the table, or just ran completely out of juice!

And people bought the new iPad for what now? Thank God I didn’t buy into the hype and kept my 2020 iPad for another one or two years.

Probably the display. At least that’s an advertised feature and not wishful thinking.
