Thank you! Great guide! Catalina up and running with everything working but SideCar. Do we have anything to make that work? I'm not sure I would use it but part of the joy the whole MacPro 5,1 experience is making everything work. Thank you, again!

Confirmed. Snow Leopard through OC with an RX 580 works beautifully.

I just tested ASD via OC. It also works with the non supported Radeon VII.

But we must turn off SMBIOS spoofing, otherwise, the spoofed board ID will cause ASD fail to start.

I ran some of the tests that have supported hardware (e.g. Processor test). It actually works, and able to show me the big green pass result.

This may not be a super useful finding, but at least it means that we have a good tool (for those who doesn't have the original graphic card) to verify system serial number, and test processor / sensors / fans / ethernet (I assume most of us have upgraded wifi card and GPU, therefore the Airport and Video tests won't be valid).

I was successful updating OC to 0.5.9 and changing from NDK to OpenCanopy. Operational-wise everything works as expected, and I was even able to apply the Catalina 10.15.5 Supplemental Update earlier today. However, I noted that it seems my boot chime has disappeared, so I commanded an NVRAM reset from the OC/OpenCanopy boot picker, and it rebooted with the chime the first time, but not since. Any ideas?
The same thing happened to me! After a few reboots with OC 0.5.9 the boot chime has stopped working! Without being able to hear the boot boeing, I can't even reset the NVRAM!
Can anyone help me please ???

Can anyone help me please ???

First, try resetting NVRAM using the OpenCore/OpenCanopy boot picker option (assuming you've enabled it in the config.plist). Reboot a couple of times and see if your chime persists. If it doesn't, fire up Terminal and execute "nvram -xp" to see if you have any entries for the EFI boot drive (I didn't). If so, load your config.plist into the latest iteration of OpenCore Configurator and see if you get a pop-up warning that your config isn't loaded or that your NVRAM isn't native (I did). It seems there may be some bit of NVRAM corruption associated with the 0.5.9 and Supplemental Update, I'm not sure.

In any case, the way I finally fixed it was to delete the OC EFI, reboot and execute an NVRAM reset (CMD-P + OPT-R). I did this with a wired USB keyboard because I couldn't hear the boot chime to know when I could successfully do with my bluetooth keyboard. Then I booted to Mojave's Recovery partition and disabled SIP and rebooted to Mojave. Reinstalled my OC EFI (this time to a USB for easier troubleshooting in the future) and blessed that EFI. I've been good ever since.

One word of caution: If you're like me and have Catalina/Mojave installed on NVME sticks and have Win10 on a SATA SSD (or HDD - really anything SATA), pull that drive before doing anything because a boot in the clear without OC will boot from the first bootable drive it finds starting with SATA drives. A Win10 boot in the clear can cause it to write to your cMP bootrom and potentially corrupt it. I've got Mojave on the first NVME stick, Catalina on the second and Win10 on SATA2. When I did that first reboot after NVRAM reset it booted to Win10 and now I've got Windows security certificates in my bootrom which we're working to clean up and reflash. It didn't brick my system (yet?) and everything is working optimally as expected, but I'll endure the pain to get it back to pristine condition. Again, pull any non-Mojave OS that is sitting ahead of it in any SATA port.

Will this work with the Bloomfield family of processors, specifically the Intel X3520 2.66 GHz one?
Like the first post says, Westmere/Gulftown are a requirement for VMM spoofing. Nehalem Xeons, Bloomfield Xeons are Nehalem too, don't have Apple Hypervisor support and will have to use SMBIOS spoofing for Catalina installs and updates.

Here are the Boot settings in my config.plist for OpenCore 0.5.8/OpenCanopy which displays the labels.
I am not familiar with many other settings in your config.plist so I cannot comment on that.

Thanks for your help.
I figured out that I had not run the unix executable 'disklabel' and 'icnspack'.
These utilities are described on page 57 of the configuration.pdf file under 11.4 OpenCanopy.
When I ran these, then open canopy worked with labels on the disk icons.
I thought I would make a note of it here incase someone else hits this same issue.
Thanks Again for your help.

can anybody please give me a hand injecting this thunderbolt aml acpi thing into OpenCore? Every time I try I get stuck on a black screen and I have to reinstall everything.

Right now I'm running on a 4,1>5,1 MacPro with OpenCore 0.59 and Catalina 10.15.5. I have a flashed Titanridge Thunderbolt 3 card. But I can't get to install the thunderbolt drivers into OpenCore. Please help! I don't know what else to try.

Put the SSDT-TBOLT3.aml file in the ACPI folder. Then find ACPI in your config and replace
Code:
<key>Add</key>
<array/>
by
Code:
<key>Add</key>
<array>

<dict>
<key>Comment</key>
<string>TBOLT3</string>
<key>Enabled</key>
<true/>
<key>Path</key>
<string>SSDT-TBOLT3.aml</string>
</dict>

</array>

After a few days after installing OC 0.5.9 my cMP no longer makes the boot chime. Has anyone discovered a solution to solve the problem without installing OC on a USB stick?
Thanks in advance!

In System Preferences, make sure to select internal speakers as the output device.

Unrelated but not totally unrelated... is it possible to add comments in a plist file? I'd like to leave notes in my HW Acceleration config in order to find them easily the day I want to update OC on my machine.

As far as I know there is not a way to annotate the config.plist file.
I tried several methods suggested in posts on the internet but they were incorrect.
The XML checker does not seem to tolerate comments, nor does the OpenCore validation tool.
If someone knows of a method to incorporate comments please document your method for inclusion in a FAQ.

What I have done is to add a .rtf document to the EFI folder and the OC folder. I also keep a screenshot of the OpenCanopy screen in the EFI folder.
