You have at least one kext from dosdudes patches, parrotgeek SIPManager, probably more.
It must have come back with the Time Machine restore. I thought it wouldn't re-install kexts? Strange.

It wasn't identifying as an iMac so I thought it may have been booting off my working Catalina OpenCore EFI so I removed all drives and reinserted the iMac code into the drive I am trying to make Big Sur and turned of the VMM Flag. The computer boots to 3/4 of the progress bar then kernel panics. Is it because I have a R280X that the computer can't spoof as a iMac Pro?
I checked my Config file in OpenCore Configurator and it is system identifying as a iMac Pro 1,1
Just did the update from 10.15.5 to 10.15.6 without VMM flag. No issues so far. Nerve-racking since its booting into a new installer. Radeon Vega card, fan spins normally.
SMBIOS spoofing, if he is using AMD hardware acceleration and forcing the board-id of iMac Pro, then the software updates will pass the logic test in the distribution file and will work. How is this possible? I only installed OC last week, but my understanding is that VMM needs to be on to even see the update (I have it off, and my System Update currently shows no update on 10.15.5 for me). Did you download the update direct from the Apple website?
VMM flag spoofing is the only way to update a MP5,1 that still identify itself as a MP5,1 board-id and model as MacPro5,1.I followed all the steps in post 1 and hardware accelerated encoding / decoding is confirmed with VideoProc. I believe I therefore have a 'hybrid' iMac Pro SMBIOS. Does this mean I can install updates that I've downloaded from Apple? Does VMM only need to be turned on if I want to use Software Update?
I'm not sure if the hybrid MP5,1/iMac Pro can update without VMM, someone that uses it please confirm, but the complete SMBIOS spoofing works for updates.
Yes, this is how it is. The update just showed up. It does say Mac Pro 2009 in the About this mac tho.SMBIOS spoofing, if he is using AMD hardware acceleration and forcing the board-id of iMac Pro, then the software updates will pass the logic test in the distribution file and will work.
Most likely you haven’t turn off the VMM flag after your initial Catalina installation.Yes, this is how it is. The update just showed up. It does say Mac Pro 2009 in the About this mac tho.
Thanks, I'll give that a shot, (I've actually decided to run it with High Sierra as I want one GPU for both OS - wonder if that has a bearing). Most likely you haven’t turn off the VMM flag after your initial Catalina installation.
Enable VMM on OpenCore config?Updating from 10.15.4 to 10.15.5 via combo updater with OpenCore 0.5.9 and got "This software is not supported on your system."

What should be done to work around this?
Enable VMM on OpenCore config?
Are we supposed to enable it for updates and then disable for running regularly?
I don't think OpenCore itself cause this problem (unless your config isn't following cdf's recommendation).I'm finding that when I boot sometimes to Catalina that it fails (presumably panics; have verbose boot enabled, but no actual visible panic) and then when I try to boot to Mojave it boots Catalina... Seems as though OpenCore has its wires crossed somehow. Any thoughts?
I haven't adopted OpenCore yet, as I still have some doubts. I don't particularly like the idea of fiddling with the VMM flag, as it appears you have to set it on and off (unless one is happy to take a 5% performance hit). On the other hand, if I were to permanently identify the Mac Pro 5,1 motherboard and the computer itself as an iMac Pro, wouldn't there be other problems, such as Continuity/Handoff/Airdrop functionality. Would FaceTime work. Would Messages work? Would Auto Unlock with the Apple Watch work? If one adopts an iMac Pro identity, what would the computer serial number be? The original one (i.e., that of a Mac Pro 5,1) or one befitting an iMac Pro?SMBIOS spoofing, if he is using AMD hardware acceleration and forcing the board-id of iMac Pro, then the software updates will pass the logic test in the distribution file and will work.
Can, I boot Snow Leopard ASD via OpenCore with the Radeon VIICan OpenCore be used to boot a Snow Leopard disk? I take it for granted it can also boot up High Sierra. Correct?
Your GPU does NOT have the required UEFI GOPI applied Part I of the instructions and was able to successfully install OpenCore and Catalina.
I do not however get a boot screen.
I'm running a
- Mac Pro 4,1 (flashed to 5,1) with
- Xeon W3670 and
- MSI GT 710 1GD3H (Nvidia GK208).
I was expecting a basic boot screen. Am I missing something?
Thanks. How could I have checked this myself?Your GPU does NOT have the required UEFI GOP
