Once click the "More info..." it will download the 4.96GB incremental update image, but not the full 12.88GB full update image.

And it seems this more like the iOS OTA update. It has pretty long preparation time.

Yesterday I did the OTA update with almost same result on my Opencore mac pro 5,1 spoofing a iMac Pro 1,1. However the OpenCanopy boot screen selector shows Big Sur as “Preboot”. Whereas in beta 2 it showed as the SSD’s name.

it appears to be seeing only the “Preboot”. Selecting this it boots to Big Sur beta 3 and seems to function as expected.

Any suggestions? before I reinstall with the full installer which I also downloaded.

Thanks

Just tested that, even run the full installer will show "Preboot" on the OC boot picker now. It seems this is part of the "new function" (SSV?).

yes, the small updater works

but allways: no H264 HWacc, PCIe drives are external
and kernel panics with dual CPU

:- (
That means that the kexts can't load.
Everything works. HWAccel, OpenCore, kext injection etc.

IndioX, are you running the latest OC 0.6 beta?

This is the error I get when I try to do the incremental update.

I am using smbios 'hybridization' so I have modified my Board ID, but everything else is still the same. I will try enabling the VMM flag and see I get different behavior, but perhaps I need to spoof a iMacPro to download the incremental update.

Update: I have to have the VMM flag enabled to do the incremental update.

Thanks for the report. It's good to know that the incremental update still works with VMM flag on.

So, it seems full SMBIOS spoofing only required when we run the full macOS 11 installer.

I wonder if this "feature" rather than 'fault' is also present on the suported set of macs that boot natively without Opencore? ...or is it just with Opencore.

Update: My machine will restart to run the incremental update, but I never quite boot into it. On my OC boot screen I see “Big Sur HD” as well as “macOS Installer” (although it has been like that ever since installed Beta 2)

My flashed R9 280X crapped out on me the other day. I have replaced it with a spare Powercolor HD7950 v2, which I don't think is flashable so I opted for OC except that I don't see the Boot Picker. I think it works because if I hit Esc on boot, it stops the boot process but my screen is black until Catalina's drivers kick in.

Is my GPU too old for this and I need an RX580 minimum?

Too old, the graphic cards by that time should have no UEFI GOP.

Why the 7950 isn't flashable? You need the HDMI port that will be disabled?

No. This one has two DVI ports along with one HDMI and two MDPs. That usually ends up not working.

Hello, this was my first time trying to use Opencore and everything mostly went without a hitch. I'm running Catalina on an NVMe SSD. Now I have tried looking up this answer on this thread and other threads to see if I could find my solution, unfortunately, I was unable to find anything that has worked. So all I need to figure out is why opencore isn't seeing an "older" Bootcamp I had installed before installing opencore. I have Windows installed on SATA SSD and I have tried the instruction on the first page but opencore won't see the USB I rsynced either. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Thank you for your hard work in keeping the Mac Pro 5,1 alive. I was able to grab mine from my job since they upgraded to the trashcans and to be honest with the upgrades that can be put on this thing I can't see why they did.

Just updated from 10.15.4 to 11.0 beta (20A5323l). With full smbios spoofing as iMacPro.

Has there been any effort to make OC compatible with Win 10 legacy booting? Is it feasible? I hate the thought of converting my current Win 10 installation.

This is due to the Lilu user-patcher not working in Big Sur. Have you tried with more spoofing?
I can only see the preview and then it turns green (with more spoofing). Even with partial spoofing the wake from sleep does not happen. Anyway I don't like BigSur beta. A lot of freezing when opening apps. It is not very snappy. So far this is a no no for me.
[automerge]1595561256[/automerge]
Also I just checked the iMessage Keys and the values for the two last rows are all 0's. I am not sure it is a good sign.
So this extended spoofing although it brings automatic updates for Catalina may not be so good after all.

The reason those 2 values were 0 is because I set "Update NVRAM" without specifying any values for the NVRAM. Don't do that.
So what it essentially does is it "updates NVRAM" as it says only with 0 values. So the values for the MLB and the ROM in the variables:
nvram 4D1EDE05-38C7-4A6A-9CC6-4BCCA8B38C14:ROM
and
nvram 4D1EDE05-38C7-4A6A-9CC6-4BCCA8B38C14:MLB
will be undefined. These values take part in the iMessage Keys creation among others. I had to clear the NVRAM settings to restore those values. If you want to do full SMBIOS spoofing you have to find a valid serial number and a valid ROM number (preferably Apple).

Check console, if there is a GPURestart crash report (when freeze happened), then most likely it's macOS issue.
I think it is caused by Adobe creative cloud, at least all of console reports that were saved at the time a new crash happened today all of them had CoreSync from the Creative Cloud folder. It's really hard to figure out from the log what exactly caused the freeze on the time.

On the other hand, this appeared on my computer, but it was impossible to take a screenshot of it so I had to use my phone:

Yeah, there is no HWAccel for HD7950. MacOS should assign CPU to decode automatically (in TV apps). However, in this case, I don’t think Safari can play Netflix at 1080P (or 4k). Please test that if possible.

Big Sur still at early beta. I don’t expect Lilu / WhateverGreen / OpenCore are full compatible at this moment. But once things get together, I believe we can work out a config / setting that works well in Big Sur (even with modern GPU).

try my EFI folder

Thanks for your help.

I tried your EFI and it worked as far as being able to start the installer then when it reboots it gets to a stage where the update assistant starts to a progress bar (about 10%) then the computer shuts down and reboots.

😕
