Then it should be really hang at there.

You use the config in post #1, then mod it as per post #4212?

No other editing in the config.plist, is that correct?
I also used the config from post #4212 an hour ago, but I added it to my config with OpenCanopy and other stuff on my Mac Pro 4,1 ---> Mac Pro 5,1. I used a empty APFS formatted SSD for installing macOS Big Sur Developer Preview 10. It didn't work for me either but I could boot in verbose mode. I get the same error message again and again but I don't know what the error message exactly mean. Maybe you know what the problem is. Thanks in Advance for helping.

i did like you said. But it did not work
Please try to use my config in this post.

You may simply replace the whole EFI folder to ensure the whole OpenCore installed properly.

Then sign out iCloud.

And then use the code in post #7 (this thread).

After reboot, you should able to install Big Sur. You may also format the target drive to HFS+, and let the installer to do the APFS conversion.

Let's see if this combination can work.

Hi,

if I switch off the iMacPro hybridization on my 10.15.7 system I get No-Entry Signs on all systems, installers and macOS recoveries which are above Mojave and not dosdude patched. Can anybody confirm this? Thank you.

Hi,

if I switch off the iMacPro hybridization on my 10.15.7 system I get No-Entry Signs on all systems, installers and macOS recoveries which are above Mojave and not dosdude .. Can anybody confirm this? Thank you.
If you have:
Code:
<key>boot-args</key>
<string>-no_compat_check</string>
it should boot normally

I was able to install Open Core and Catalina just fine. But for whatever reason, I cannot get my AMD 5700 XT to work in Catalina. It is a flashed card and it will allow me to boot into High Sierra and Mojave. It will NOT however, allow me to even so much as boot into Catalina. Anytime I try to boot using the AMD 5700 RX, it puts me through an infinite reboot cycle. Here's the error report. I'm basically at the end of my rope with this Mac. It's pretty much over unless I can resolve this.

Just my experience, I use a Universal Audio Arrow on a Macbook Pro. I decided to buy the V2.0 Titan Ridge, flashed and popped it in to my 2010 5.1 running HS. Obs it's recognised. Installed UA software rebooted. Plugged in Interface and rebooted. To my surprise it came online. I opened Ableton Live selected the interface, lasted about 10 mins then started disconnecting.. Audio was passing through headphones fine. I then thought is this a power issue so attached a 6pin mini to 6 pin pcie, nope still the same. My question is, would opencore make a difference to get this interface fully working? Or is it a no go? Cheers, Shea.

I was able to install Open Core and Catalina just fine. But for whatever reason, I cannot get my AMD 5700 XT to work in Catalina. This is using the methods in this thread. I followed the instructions to the letter and had no issues at all until I try to boot up using the AMD card. I can boot up using my 1080 GTX (also flashed). And I can boot up to both High Sierra and Mojave on the AMD card.

I ran into the SAME EXACT ISSUE installing both the dosdude1’s Catalina patcher method and the open core method. It gets about 85% of the way through the load screen and the system then just restarts and over and over again.

also, this is a fresh install of Catalina on entirely empty disk. Like I said, I followed the instructions on page 1 of this thread to the letter.

Then it should be flashing related.

GTX 1080 is another story, it doesn't has any driver in Catalina, purely display via the Mac EFI UGA unacceerated.

For your 5700, it has problem during "Power Play Initialization", that's when the macOS try to switch from Mac EFI UGA to macOS driver. And the Power Play info is stored inside the graphic card's ROM.

MVC may flashed your card with another 5700's ROM, which may have different Power Play info, and may cause this issue in Catalina. The same "mismatch" may be OK in Mojave, but not necessary OK with other OS / driver.

If your Catalina is 100% clean and vanilla, then the root cause of this issue should be from the card itself.

Let's see if this combination can work.
should i use opencore 0.6.2 and only the config from this post or the complete 0.5.9 package?

Thanks. I appreciate the reply. Could I buy a non-flashed 5700 and toss it in given the open core boot loader? I have only a tangential grasp of this stuff. Is there any reason to get a flashed card if my plan is to simply stay on Catalina until I finally upgrade to a new MacPro?

i was thinking of just returning the card to MVC and buying one from Best Buy at half the price or something.

5700 is proved can show boot screen via OpenCore. Your plan should work. Especially you already have a flashed 1080 as emergency card, IMO, that should be safe enough. If the flash 5700 can't work as expected, no point to keep it (if you can still get the money back).

yeah I really I could get the money back. I payed at least a $150 premium for the flash. MacVidCards says they have 60-day guarantee. I did buy the 1080 from them years back and had no issues at all. I’d much rather throw my business to a small business owner than to Best Buy. If they can get the card to work, I would put in the time to work with them.

They haven’t responded to an email I sent them four days ago. So we’ll see. Thanks though. I appreciate the replies.

You can try injecting different PP table through device properties. Search around even in the Radeonboost kext thread or try this SSDT here:
Also you can try replacing the offending kext with the Mojave version.

If you have:
Code:
<key>boot-args</key>
<string>-no_compat_check</string>
it should boot normally
Oh I see. Thank you so much. :)
I just followed the wiki, which prescribes the NVRAM cleanup after the hybridization, without understanding what the "no_compat_check" is. Now it's working fine.

Does a system update work with only the VMM Flag applied and the hybridization on?
For a new install I definitely have to switch off the hybridization.

Thank you.

VMM the the only switch for system update to show up.

However, my recommendation still turn off hybridization when you want to update macOS (just in case).

How does one go about installing a kext file? I’m trying to install AirPortBcrm4331.kext but haven’t a clue as to how to do that.

Hi,

my Apple Magic Mouse freezes many times at the login screen to the FileVault. Only my wired mouse helps then. Is there a fix for this? Thank you.

So I went ahead with testing this out on the 5,1 yesterday, and again this morning, Currently running Catalina 10.15.7

everything is working so far on a clean install except the ability to get external PCI SSD as internal I keep getting this error:

here is the full Device Properties key list:

if anyone could help me see whats wrong that would be awesome I've tried a few different things and haven't seemed to get it going yet.

Once I get it I would like to try getting Big Sur on a second test SDD

I went out to Best Buy and bought a 5700xt and it works perfectly in Catalina. So it’s definitely the card. I appreciate all the help.

Now i just need to figure out how to get WiFi working. Wifi isn’t working at all in Catalina and the drivers aren’t installed. I read Tsialex’s post regarding the Mojave kext file working in Catalina and I was able to locate the file. I just have absolutely no idea how to install it or if there is any other method to get WiFi functioning in Catalina. I think that is the remaining issue and then I’m good to go. I’m sure something else will crop up. Any advice on how to get my AirPort card working would be welcomed.
