My OpenCore 0.63 is working nicely now on my cMP 5,1. But one puzzling thing is that in the Boot Menu I see an extra bootable drive with a name that I had used for one of the bootable partitions some weeks ago.
I have had several NVAM resets since then, not sure what that is from. Selecting it nothing happens.
Is there any way to clean that up?

What is the extra drive's name?

Do NOT do this.

You are just lucky, the 0.6.3 config isn't NOT compatible to OC 0.6.4.
Whatever. It just works. Naturally, I prepared beforehand for the possibility of failure, but my precautions were unnecessary. And I’ve been doing that ever since OC 0.5.9.

Neptune - which was the name of the boot. It's the system name and I used to name the main boot drive the same as the system before changing to the macOS version like Mojave, Catalina, and BigSur.
If the drive is bootable it will show up in bootpicker. You might want to repartition the drive for data only.

There is no longer a real drive of that name. It was renamed Catalina - both Catalina (system) and Catalina - Data. This was a couple of weeks before OpenCore.
It does not show in the EFI Option Picker.

What is causing this problem at boot up with open core on a 30 inch apple Cinema Display

That was my first step - both with GUI Disk Utility and diskutil list. Nothing.
I identified the issue. It was a drive actually named Archive, which had an older Mojave installed on it. Why it is called Neptune is not clear. The older Recovery rev gave it away.
Yes, there are a lot of drives on this box.

Are there any parameters we can change in OC (boardID, etc.) to enable Sidekick on a MP5.1 with a Radeon RX580? Thanks.

You can change the whole Mac's ident (e.g. make it ident at Mac Pro 7,1) to enable Sidecar (I guess that's what you want to say). Pure board ID spoofing won't activate SideCar.

However, AFAIK, none of the cMP user really can make SideCar works.

I haven't perform any SideCar test in Big Sur yet, but I doubt if that make any difference.

yes, Sidecar! ;) thanks for the info... I thought as long as we have BT4.2 (upgraded from original) and Metal GPU we should be able to use Sidecar, but it doesn't seem to be the case if no one yet managed to get it working... so we're out of luck on that one.

Do you have filevault enabled? Try repairing the caches.

So far my problem has been completely ignored here, so I'm trying again.
Firstly, major thanks for putting your log under a spoiler tag. Many just dump such long logs directly into posts.

Two things to consider on your issue.
  1. You are running a superseded version of OpenCore
    1. You are running v0.6.3 and the current version is v0.6.4
    2. It may well be that your issue was resolved in the new version
  2. The best place for such issues as yours is actually the project itself.
    1. Unlikely that threads such as this which is primarily dealing with configuration can give you answers. Not impossible btw, just unlikely.
    2. You might get some suggestions here but if not, or they don't work, then definitely raise an issue for a definitive answer from the developers: https://github.com/acidanthera/bugtracker/issues
Good luck!

Hi, thank you very much for your work and the tutorials! I was able to successfully install OpenCore 0.6.4 with Catalina and Windows 10 on my old Mac Pro 5.1 yesterday with this tutorial!

I'm sorry for the stupid question, because I'm not that technical in these topics...
When I researched for OpenCore, I read somewhere that Windows can break the Mac Pro via Open Core because Windows permanently writes to the "bootRoom?" (Unfortunately I can no longer find the thread about it)

Is this still a problem today, as it is not mentioned in the tutorial?
There was also something about a firmware protection that can be activated, does anyone know how to do that?
