Activate AMD hardware acceleration
[For existing OpenCore users, you can always download my latest OpenCore package at post #1314 for update] Full HWAccel achieved now! Everything is covered in the OpenCore thread. The step by step tutorial to enable AMD hardware acceleration is now at here, but I strongly recommend you go...forums.macrumors.com
A VEGA 64 fully powered by the backplane, seriously? I smell crispy power controller chips.iNitialE - You're posting this here too? You failed to mention that you're powering your Vega 64 from a SATA port from a drive sled. We gave you the answer in the OpenCore group - perform the pixlas mod before your burn up your backplane. There is no "config" - there is nothing else to do, "bro".
PS - Based on your screenshot, you're running an old version of OpenCore.
The only USB 1.1 problem I'm aware of is the inability to hot-swap. USB 1.1 devices work fine if connected at boot time. I only have one USB 1.1 device - my UPS - so have tested what others have reported. I'm not aware of any other USB-related issues, and I move massive amounts of data across USB3. As of 11.2.3, I haven't had any USB issues besides the USB 1.1 hot swap issue.I find that OC on my Mac Pro 5,1 with updated WiFi/BLE and GPU cards works more reliably than a patched approach with boot-args="-no_compat_mode" BLE is especially improved. I hope we can resolve the NVmE issues of 11.3.
Has anybody found a solution to the USB 1.1 problems and overall USB reliability issues? Is there a way to inject the Catalina USB drivers?
Is OCLP (OpenCore Legacy Patcher) an easier method to install OpenCore for Big Sur, or is the method described on this first page of this thread the recommended method?
Others can comment on OCLP, I never used it. FYI many of us are using the following OC package by @h9826790 which is primarily focused on enabling AMD hardware acceleration but has also been setup with newbies in mind.[/URL]
FYI the first post covers this, if you're interested in a hands-on approach.I have a flashed 280X for Metal compatiblity with boot screen, so does this package allow using newer and better AMD cards WITH boot screen? Perusing the thread suggests this (which also mentions using an unflashed GPU). I would definitely use this method as I want to upgrade from the 280X.
FYI the first post covers this, if you're interested in a hands-on approach.
Like @cdf explained, this thread is for a comprehensive hands-on approach to install OC (the guide covers everything and more than everything!)Is the thread from hp dealing specifically with getting graphics hardware acceleration working for non Apple Metal-blessed GPUs, whereas this thread is more general installation of OpenCore?
Yes, you can re-install your unflashed RX580 and with either of the two OC install options you will get boot screen. Both OC install options have excellent guides!I originally had a Sapphire Pulse RX 580 but had to downgrade to a 280X for Metal-compatibility/boot screen with the release of High Sierra, but would like to reinstall it under Big Sur if I can regain the boot picker screen. Want hardware graphics acceleration too, if this card normally wouldn't support it.

i use on macos big sur 11.2.3 for render normal bro, but i try playing game, macpro die and must unplug power cable, but on macos 11.1 and 10.14 100% Normal No problem , on videoproc not detect of VGA, how to detect VGA??A VEGA 64 fully powered by the backplane, seriously? I smell crispy power controller chips.
Post #1 Q27on videoproc not detect of VGA, how to detect VGA??
USB 3 AV streaming like a Brio webcam stutters when plugged into a hub. Ok plugged in directly. Occasionally all USB functions except legacy plugged in at boot disappears and you have to reboot. As of 11.2.3, I haven't had any USB issues besides the USB 1.1 hot swap issue.
BTW - avoid Big Sur 11.3 (soon to be released). Both 11.3 and 11.4 beta versions are currently not working on cMP, and very likely the final 11.3 release won't work either on cMP. But don't despair! The cMP gurus of this sub-forum are hard at work to fix that and more! 😀
Big Sur 11.2.3 works perfectly on cMP, so that's what you want to install. If Apple has already released 11.3 by the time you plan to upgrade, you can find 11.2.3 here:

EDIT: Correction, if your boot drive is in one of the four SATA sleds then my understanding is that 11.3 should work fine. If you have your boot drive on some PCIe board then 11.3 won't boot.
It does not matter. As long as you have a PCIE device in another slot it may still prevent boot/panic.However, since it's a standard SATA SSD, I could install it in a regular bay via a 2.5" sled that I already have...
but in the end, I just want it to work so if the hp method makes it easier for the laissez-faire among us, I'll take the path of least resistance![]()
Bummer. This means I am stuck on 11.2.3 or go back to Catalina full time. I have both installs plus Mojave and Windows, but like Big Sur best.Is the 11.3 issue only on PCIE NVME or also on PCIE eSata?
To my understanding, that 'no entry' screen only ever happens when the Apple bootloader directly tries to load an officially incompatible OS (e.g. Big Sur). If so, that means that when you got that screen your MP did not start OpenCore first but attempted to directly start Big Sur. Which probably would mean that your OpenCore is not installed or blessed correctly.Okay, this is getting really weird!
Today I created two partitions on one HDD, both with a new installation of macOS Big Sur 11.2.3 via OpenCore 0.6.8.
I was then able to successfully update one partition to macOS Big Sur 11.4 Beta 1 via the Developer Seed. However, I could not update the other partition via the Public Seed to macOS Big Sur 11.3 RC. My Mac downloaded the macOS Big Sur 11.3 update normally, but then it didn't even start the installation, instead it was directly shown the crossed out error logo. NVRAM and SMC resets did not help again.
Again my question, has anyone successfully run macOS Big Sur 11.3 RC as a fresh install?
Regards,
Tobias
