I like using Yahoo's tracker over the one on the fedex site. Sadly my iPad has been stuck in Alaska for 2 days according to both sites  Sarah Palin better not be using it!

http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/r-packageTracker-s-fedex?s=fedex

Interesting, this tracking site has a more info then the FedEx site. It's got one more update past the FedEx site. My guess they don't normally list it being released?

Last FedEx Update: May 27, 2010 6:48 AM / At dest sort facility / MISSISSAUGA, ON

Last FedEx Yahoo Update: 2010-05-27 10:30:00 / Released for delivery / MISSISSAUGA, ON

It's HERE!!! One more sleep to go!!!

I just got the email, too. I am in Oakville and FEDEX said my iPad was in Mississauga this morning before it suddenly got sent back to anchorage this evening after having already been through anchorage and memphis yesterday.

no movement from Apple on my case yet... shame.

The status changed today to : prepared for shipment.

Still says that it will be shipped on the 28th. Not too worried about it, however I do want my screen protector ASAP.

Any one knows if they will sell screen protector at locations like futureshop ?

btw toronto area folks - you could still receive your ipad tomorrow by noon simply because of the quick changeover through memphis, depending when the FDX128 flight occurs

other places like ottawa? not so luck because it requires the extra hop

someone messed up :p

F U C K!

like some of you, i received this email from apple too:

Dear XXX XXX,

Thank you for your iPad order.

Your iPad is currently in transit, however, FedEx has informed us
that, due to a flight delay, your package will not deliver on May 28th
as planned. We are closely tracking your order and working with FedEx
to deliver it as soon as possible. FedEx will make every effort to
deliver your iPad on Saturday, May 29th.

If you have any questions, please call us at 1-800-676-2775, from
5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday
and Sunday, Pacific time.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thanks again,
The Apple Store

They are probably doing this for the other pre-orders heading to the major cities with Apple Store (especially GTA) too. They must be having some trouble with their own shipment to the Apple Stores, and so using our preorder shipments to address the demand/problem first. After all, they know they don't want the Apple Stores in GTA to have absolutely no iPad in stock in stores.

I have to say, foul move by Apple.

I ordered on the first day available and now I have to wait an extra day. I messaged FedEx earlier today and they said they already see my package in Mississauga and will deliver it to me tomorrow 28th morning.

I'm going to try call FedEx and see if I can pick it up in person sometime tomorrow.

Don't forget that the first batch of iPads missed the fedex cutoff on the first day. So it might have a domino effect that applies to you.

Not saying that you shouldn't be pissed, but at least try to understand that problems can occur and are not avoidable all the time. Maybe the first truck out of the factory got in a traffic jam, blew a tire etc etc who knows.

Probably not fedex or apple fault.

Haven't received this email YET. I'm in Ottawa. FedEx site still shows departed from Memphis as the last entry at 0339.

I'm guessing most of us will be in the same boat with the delays. Didn't know FedEx had weekend delivery in Ottawa, as per that email from Apple.

Have to blame Apple this time.

I just called FedEx and they checked their records again. They confirmed that the Apple iPads (intended for GTA delivery on 28th originally at least) are indeed already in Mississauga right now on 27th 10:05PM EST.

Also, I messaged FedEx earlier today around noon about my iPad and they said my iPad is in Mississauga sorting facility and about to get cleared w/ the brokers.

In my 10PM phone call, FedEx said they have a "master order/comment from Apple" that applies to all the other Apple iPad shipment in Mississauga sorting facility right now that they will not deliver until 29th.

So our iPad are physically there in Mississauga, FedEx just won't deliver it to us because Apple is forcing their hand.

I can't believe Apple is doing this. Bait and switch, people. Apple has got to be having issues with their own shipment and now using our own iPad to relieve their situation.

Can you say screwed?

Apple rarely let me down (only 3 times in over 6 years) and I have to say, I am very disappointed this time.

Probably not fedex or apple fault.

Sorry, but I do blame Apple. If they didn't insist on waiting until the very last minute to ship all these orders because they wanted to ensure that no one got them early, then there would be an extra day of slack to make sure they all got here by tomorrow. Unfortunately, Apple seems to care more about making sure the iPads are delivered on their schedule than their customers' satisfaction.

One way or another I will get my iPad tomorrow (might have to skip work to go to Apple Store). However, I still have hope that I will see my iPad return to Mississauga tomorrow and that the second Anchorage is an error, which seems more likely than the five errors that would be necessary for showing it departing anchorage yesterday, passing through Memphis and arriving in Mississauga.

In my 10PM phone call, FedEx said they have a "master order/comment from Apple" that applies to all the other Apple iPad shipment in Mississauga sorting facility right now that they will not deliver until 29th.

I'd be curious to know what the hell they would do that for. It's the 28th, the scheduled delivery date. If they are here and able to be delivered, why not deliver those you have...

You'll get complaints from maybe half the people vs. everyone who pre-ordered. This way it just overloads the Saturday drivers that much more, doesn't it?

I just called FedEX and the agent said they were proceeding with the massive iPad delivery tomorrow as planned. Also, following that link one of the previous posters provided showing the iPads arriving in Mississauga, I typed in the tracking number of the one iPad shown in a closeup. It's tracking information follows my own exactly (minus the return to Anchorage). So if it is in Mississauga then I believe mine is too.

It's information below:

I called fedex again, for the second time today rofl

With everything being said with so called letters from Apple about having to wait till the 29th i decided to call Fedex since Apple will be shipping the new thing at my office, i do not want to hang around the office all day on saturday.

The lady said that i will get the iPad tomorrow before 18:00 like mentioned on their site using my tracking number.

BTW my office is 45 minutes from Montreal on rural area (St-Hyacinthe)

i can sleep !!!! Thank's god!!!

Forgot to mention that i called them the second time @ 22:30 EDT ;-)

If your iPad is heading to Greater Toronto Area and your tracking details matches to my earlier ones, then the next update will say this:

Then your iPad, as I mentioned before, like mine, has been sitting in Mississauga since this morning (27th). FedEx intended to deliver tomorrow morning (28th) originally.

But now, Apple asked FedEx to deliver the iPads (preordered by people in Greater Toronto area) on Saturday instead.

So some of our preordered iPads are there in Mississauga, but Apple is using them for their own Apple stores inventory instead.

Then your iPad, as I mentioned before, like mine, is actually in Mississauga since this morning (27th). FedEx intended to deliver tomorrow morning (28th).

But now, Apple asked FedEx to deliver the iPads (preordered by people in Greater Toronto area) on Saturday instead.

So it's basically sitting in Mississauga. Apple is obviously using them for their own Apple stores inventory instead.

I seriously doubt they'd use our preorders to stock the stores and have enough time to ship out a replacement that would be delivered by Saturday.

My status hasn't changed since this morning and went the regular route of Alaska-Memphis-Mississauga. It was released for delivery this morning at 10:38 apparently and never switched back to alaska like some did. I haven't recieved an email from apple and the fedex site is still saying delivery by tomorrow.

just called fedex

Hi there! i've just called fedex and asked them if my ipad will ship tomorrow. I'm from winnipeg and the lady said that it will be there by tomorrow!

it seems that mostly people from around toronto are getting the frustrating mail from apple,
(maybe because most apple stores are located around there?!)

I called fedex and they said my ipad isn't in flight from anchorage, it's at mississauga and will be delivered tomorrow as planned before noon

*shrug* we'll see

edit: she did say it was due to timezone difference... which wouldn't make any sense whatsoever lols. but i'll accept their word for it because ... hey... i have no control over what happens

That's great to hear! Winnipeg here too. Fedex site shows mine left anchorage at 3pm and still sched for delivery tomorrow. No delay email so far.

yes. my ipad is already in Mississauga.
so if yours is only on the way to memphis, it could get close for you. from there it still goes to toronto. so it all depends on if the winnipeg flight is over night or tomorrow morning!
good luck

ok guys!

I called one of my friend that work for the Apple Store on St-Catherine street in Montreal and he said that Apple had their iPad at the store since 3 days so i really doubt that Apple will use per ordered iPad for their stores!

I'm pretty sure it is the same for the GTA guys... The Apple store had their iPad and all the accessories there days before the plane landed on Mississauga this morning.

Sleep well and you will have your iPad tomorrow during the day ;-) Yeee ha!

Did i said to sleep well ??? i can't sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! rofl

Not sure why or how Apple would do this. The packages have your name and address on it and you have a tracking number for your package.
