Credit cards such as AMEX and others will show tomorrow or the next day. They never show a transaction the day it goes through.

All the debit cards do because they're instantaneous. Notice all the cards that have been hit are debit (mostly all anyway).

Those who put on a credit card, but haven't seen it, dont' worry. It's happened, but it's just not showing.

It won't show up in your balance but it will decrease your available credit instantly. So far, that's not happened for any Amex cards on this forum.

I have a Chase CC card as well and I have been checking since last night, it only went pending on my card about 30 min ago. Keep the faith, it will happen!

I think these puppies are either shipping or being prepared to be shipped tomorrow because Apple told me they would not charge me until it was moving into a shipment status.

Tethering love

I am almost ready to pull the trigger on buying one, but am not dealing well with my anger regarding tethering the iPad to an iPhone.

It is absolutely stunning that tethering still isn't an option discussed or pricing plans revealed at AT&T for the iPhone for any reason whatsoever - even though the feature is supposedly available on the iPhone. That there still is no mention of it with the iPad just burns my Apple.

I'm so peeved about an apparent lack of interest from both Apple and AT&T that I may not renew my contract and continue using the phone; even though I really have liked using it.

No, I am not interested in jailbreaking the piece of work. WTF is AT&T and Apple thinking by completely ignoring the requests for this feature? Dollar signs, right? Well ... mine may move back to the Crackberry or other smart phone if they don't pull their heads out of their wallet.

When some one orders by debit card many merchants put a hold on the amount to guarantee it will be in the account. They don't usually do that with credit cards but some do. So I don't think any should get to excited until they get an e-mail confirming shipment.

My amex card does not have a charge but my available balance is about $900 less than it should be. I called and Amex said there is a pending charge from apple. I also received the email at 4:59 am this morning.

The credit card I used shows transactions (temporary and actual) instantaniously. That said no charge from Apple. Though I did receive the email about a half hour ago.

Are you guys seeing the charge for just the Apple care or for the iPad as well? (I didn't order Apple Care yet)

I ordered my 3G 16GB on Friday, 4/16. I got the email telling me that it would ship by end of April. Today the shipping method was changed to priority and my card has a pending charge. Looks like they will start shipping shortly.

To be honest I have never checked my credit card for “pending” items, until now. I would assume they are processing the order for shipment and they want to make sure there are still funds available before they actually complete the process. Does anyone how long it usually takes something to go from pending to charged?

It would help if people specified which version they ordered. If could very well be that those who ordered on 4/18 are getting a model with greater inventory.

I ordered mine a while back (64gb) and still have not received the email.

I'm starting to think maybe the 64s are shipping a bit later. I ordered a 32GB on the 3rd, but canceled it to order the 64GB on the 17th. My shipping is still standard, but I got the "magical" email this morning at 7 EST.
Strangely, my camera connector and power cord haven't even been prepared for shipment.
My AMEX still isn't showing anything from Apple, either.

I think Apple has shown interest by including the feature in the iPhone. AT&T is the one who has failed to allow the feature for over a year. In regards to the iPad, since Apple is still working out carrier agreements and we don't know what is included in the iPad features of 4.0, I'd say it is entirely possible for tethering to be included. The real problem is with AT&T, not Apple.

Some pending charges are holds/authorizations. If so, Apple can either keep the money or let it go but they have the ability to do so within 5 days.

If the charge is just a regular 'ol charge, then it is whatever the speed of your bank is. (Mine is 2-3 days)

Depends both on the credit card and the merchant. And, it depends on if the merchant actually charges it or just puts a hold on the card like when you first place an order.

Generally though, if Apple is getting ready to ship and charges your card it takes about 2 days to go from temp(pending) to an actual charge placed on your card.

Check out this article... I would assume that you will get your money back... mine changed from standard to priority - no extra charge - this morning. Apple people told me that there is only one shipping method for the ipad 3g...priority... same thing happened with the wi-fi version.

Not true. I have a 64gb 3G on order and my card has been charged.
