[Merged] iPad 3G Ship Rumors

So lets just hope that this does not happen to anyone on Friday. My iPad case has been in Hong Kong for days as you can see. Finally called up to see what in the devil is going on and apparently it's being held up in customs or something. I thought it would clear customs in Anchorage. I'm not too sure what they were exactly talking about. Anyways it's bizarre. Never seen anything do this before.... but I could care less - as long as it's not my 3G sitting in hong kong for days! I'd be so mad!!! :eek:

I have a strong feeling that the 3G's are already here in the US. I guess it will be confirmed if we don't get them shipped by tomorrow. You would think they would at least be in prepared to ship mode by now if they were coming from china.

Well, I thought a lot of things recently regarding the iPad, and I wasn't correct on any of them. Apple continues to surprise me with their actions (or non-actions rather).
 
So after seeing how much the WiFi iPad's are going for on eBay currently, and coming into an extra few hundred bucks I didn't expect to have available for spending, I decided to order a 64GB WiFi+3G. Boy am I a sucker. :p

Too bad I have to wait until May 7th... but at least I can play with the WiFi model till then. :D I love this thing.

That's my thought, too. They brought them all over from China via freight, and they will ship them from within the US. We might not get ship notices until Thursday if they are priority overnight. This is all good, though, as now it won't hit my credit card billing statement until my June due date. I don't mind paying a little later since the iPad is being delivered the same day no matter what!

My guess is we'll have shipping notices on Wednesday so we'll have a chance to pre-sign, and leave the note at the door for FedEx. Notices on Thursday doesn't really give enough time for that.

I have to agree with you. That's the only way they can guarantee to get them to us on Friday, 30 April. It would be too risky to ship from China this late in the week and expect them to arrive on time.

If this is the case, it only makes the 5pm availability at stores thing even more strange.

If they are stateside already, why can't they be available Friday morning?

Well They need to be delivered on the same day still so they have to allow for time to get them into the store and setup on Display. That's why they will sell them at 5 pm that day. If they were shipped to the Apple Store the day before word would get out and people would line up at 4 am. ;)

There's no in-store setup necessary for the iPad 3g. Think about it: they already have tons of iPads on display. They are all on the store's WiFi. If they replace some WiFi models with 3g models, the 3g models will also default to the store's WiFi. In other words, standing in an Apple store holding a WiFi only iPad or a WiFi + 3g will be pretty much the same experience won't it?
 
This is weird. I just checked my bank account and I have a pending charge from Apple of $11.15.

This is just odd. This is also the third pre-authorization that Apple has made to my account in the last couple of weeks. The other 2 have been for the full price of the unit.

This just strikes me as a little odd.:apple:

This exact thing happened to my power supply, which was shipped on 4/3, sat in Lantau Island for 5 days and then got to me in 2 days. I don't know if it's customs, or shipping a pile of accessories once a week, or who knows. Do we even know it's FedEx yet for the 3G's? How can we when nothing has been 'shipped'?

I have one for 12.56 but if shows to be from Itunes when I logged into by bank account
 
Has anyone's credit card charge actually posted to their account or are they still pending or have they fallen off?

Mine was pending until today and now it fell off again. This is the 3rd time that it has shown up but fallen off.

Also...has anyone's status changes on the Order Status from Apple's website?

I haven't bought any thing from iTunes, so now I am really weirded out. I paid $12 for expedited shipping back in March when I pre-ordered. The two don't match up. ??::scratches head::

I had two pre-authorizations that showed pending and then fell off. I actually called my bank to make sure that when Apple tried to put through the "actual" charge that they accepted it. My bank has heightened their security and I didn't want the real charge to be turned down b/c they would think it was fraudulent.

Now I have this $11.15 pending charge that I can't figure out.

Actually the Wi-Fi and Power Cord was posted to my account as soon as it was delivered. I still have a temporary authorization now for about a week of $772.74.

Now a question, is it too late to call Apple tomorrow since it's after 9pm EST and change the shipping address?

Wow! They still have a hold on your account for over $700? That's crazy! (and I would be p*ssed). You can't use that cash until that falls off.

Did you ever get tracking info for your Wi-Fi or did it just get delivered w/o getting this in advance.

As for calling and getting the shipping address changed....well, that might just be a question for Apple only at this point. I personally wouldn't risk it, but that's just me.

I had one for like $13.71. It might be Apple trying to make sure that there is more than $1 available by picking a random but not huge amount.

Yeah I also got my Pwr Supply today. It was scheduled for tomorrow! Kewl!

What do you think of the heavy duty 6 foot cord?--))) I was hoping it would be the opposite. Standard Pwr Supply cord with a 6 foot light weight USB cable! Oh well. At least I don't need an extension cord now!--))

I don't use that credit card much so it really is not much of a problem for me. I still have room for a few more iPad's haha. Not like I am going to use it though for anything else.

As for the tracking, I did receive tracking numbers for the iPad Wifi and later on the 10W Power Cord. It was weird though. For the Power Cord, there was a hold only for 2 days prior to shipping. The same, maybe a day or two longer for the Wi-Fi but this seems pretty weird for the 3G.

Just checking it out further, there has been a hold on my account (transaction date) for the 3G since 4/19. :confused:
