FYI, I have no idea if this means anything and I Know all iPad orders now have a shipping method of "priority"... but on 3/12, I asked for the 2 day shipping option which was $13 and it was just charged on my credit card...

Kinda makes me think some people are going to get this before the stores unlike the original launch. Priority seems like 3 day, your getting 2 day guaranteed. If they charged you now, why wouldn't they charge you for the Ipad? very strange.

hmm my status still says late april but thats not to say they just havent updated the orders yet...still may 7 isnt that far away and at least we have a date now

wait a tic, if u guys look on apples main page and scroll down to the bottom it still says "Wi-Fi models available on April 3. Wi-Fi + 3G models available in late April" unless they forgot to change that

I agree... it is strange... you would think Apple would run my iPad 3G charge first?

Another point of emphasis it says by May 7. This isn't a release date, it is like when it said the WiFi would ship by the 12-15th.

As for complete and utter speculation my gut for the last week was we would get more info today and we did and my second hunch is they would release it on a Saturday like the wifi only, so this Saturday perhaps? :p

For those worried, here is a story from the front page that details when the Wi-Fi iPads changed shipping dates.

Basically, on March 27th (before launch), the "ships by" date went from April 3rd to April 12th. Those that pre-ordered before March 27, got their iPads on April 3rd.

The only difference here is that there never was a definitive date like the Wi-Fi only model had. This is why people think the initial launch will be May 7th. I disagree. Based on the Wi-Fi model, I would bet that the initial allotment of iPad 3Gs have been exhausted, and the next round is available to ship on May 7th.

I really hope for Apple to announce the day of in-store availability well in advance. That way I know when to camp out or take a day off if needed.

lol agreed. Only time I ever waited outside a store was for Leopard and Nintendo Wii, waited outside of two stores, was the 21st out of 20 Wii and the Wal-Mart, but got it when ShopKo opened later that morning. uhm.. but getting back on topic, I would love to sit around outside the Mall of America once again, was fun even just waiting for the software release so an iPad release should be awesome.

Hmm...
March 27 was a week before April 3. Hope that doesn't mean that we have to wait until next Monday! =D.
(Come ooooonnnn SATURDAY!)

My order status is still late April too. So hopefully those of us who pre-ordered early (I did mine at 8:30 AM PDT on March 12th) will see them sooner.

Plus, it's the web store that says ships my May 7th. It doesn't mean that pre-orders ship by May 7th. I still say ours will ship sooner.

Rob
(trying to be optimistic)

Sounds logical, and with this in mind, that change on the 27th was 8 days before launch, so if same holds true, Monday April 26th would be the same.

I just doesn't make sense to me. Why wouldn't Apple specify a date, and then delay it from the non-existant date? I don't know, it feels more like a date announcement than anything.

I hope not, too!

Hopefully the change for everyone's shipping to priority means we'll get them Friday. I can hope anyway :)

I stand by Saturday. It makes sense considering the success of the first iPad launch. Why release such a huge product while most people are at work?

While I agree with Saturday (mainly because I really hope it's Saturday because I don't want to wait two extra days) I still think it'd sell on Monday. People could either 1) Ask for work off for the day 2) Go on their lunch break 3) Be someone who doesn't go to work (Student or Stay-at-Home parent) 4)Have it shipped to work anyway.

I hope they open reservations up. Hopefully Apple will at least say something today considering this.

your angry? I am from Australia and the iPad (both Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G) models have been delayed a whole month - to Late May!

Quit your complaining

You're lucky you get it so soon at all. Some pieces of tech don't even make it over to your island, and if they do it's from third parties who charge incredible amounts of import fees. So don't act so entitled

This make a whole lot of sense to me. It should work the same way, if you pre-ordered before today, you should be on track to getting it on time by the end of April. Especially those of you who ordered on the 1st day it opened for pre-orders March 12th, I know I ordered that day and in hopes of my 64 GB 3G iPad coming by Late April and not May 7th.
