Thanks to the news on the front page from last night, we have learned that NEW orders will ship before 7 May... and it appears the current stock of orders, mine included (from 12 March), are still scheduled to be shipped by the end of April.

No, I think that's just something they use in the Apple Online Store system to keep track of things.
Agreed! Their vauge release was annoying but understandable in some ways, now it is just getting silly.
I was just billed for the Apple Care, my shipping date still says "late April".

I just received the exact same e-mail from the Apple Store moments ago. I pre-ordered a 64GB 3G unit on first day of pre-orders @ around 8:30 am EDT.

Since they change the ship date in their website, i think these emails are just to stop clients from calling them asking why it has a may 7 ship date.

Many of us who know Apple kinda expected this, so now it is official. I am enjoying my WiFi. But my VP is going to be pissed as he was going to get the WiFi unit when my 3G arrived
Also got my email this morning confirming the late-April ship date; however, unlike a few others I still don't see anything on my credit card from Apple yet (aside from the case and keyboard dock that I recently received).
Keeping fingers crossed this will ship soon!
