Started using it around noon, it's now 11:30 here and I'm down to 25%, wifi entire time. Except for the 10 minute drive home for the coffee shop.

I love it.

This is awesome to hear!!! Mine's comin' later, but awesome battery feedback. I also purchased one of those Energizer XPAL lithium chargers, they have the 8000mAh and the 18000mAh, which I am anticipating being able to charge the ol' iPad when I'm out and about, sweetness!!!!

I've been browsing with it for most of the afternoon and evening as well as listening to music and using some apps and after a good 6-7 hours of use it is only down to 36% as i am typing this.

My battery life

I played a video for 1 hour and lost exactly 10 percent which makes the 10 hour claim about right. Anyone else getting about the same results?

I got to 14 hours straight and it was only down to 20%. I'm pleasantly surprised.

Apple is getting even smarter with its advertising --- it's always better to understate something and then let everybody gush over that reality exceeds what usually is just marketing hype. Especially in an industry where companies routinely overstate everything. Cool.

I'm so glad that battery life is great. It was one of the things I was worried about given the screen. Amazing that they managed to get so much battery life into such a powerful little thing.

That's an easy call when you know everyone will be wowed by 10 hours, and yet you know the product can actually surpass that.

Wow, I am really surprised with the battery of this. Honestly, its the ipads best feature.

For 30 minutes of video I got 5 percent off of my battery. Is this what it hers are seeing as well? I have wifi on with 50 percent brightness and fetching email as well.

Do you still want all those flash adverts on every webpage? or that long battery life?

You would be surprised what turning flash off on a laptop can do as well.

Battery has been good, but I also noticed that charging seems much slower than the iPhone. Makes sense, but it seems like charging over night vs brief times during the day is more necessary than before.
Are you using the provided charger, or from a computer like an iMac or MacBook? The charger is faster. In fact, some computers and USB hubs don't put out enough juice to charge the iPad while it's on at all.

60% after ~8hrs use! oh my!! that IS incredible!!

i only hope that the battery health keeps up for +500 cycles!

N.B. to all users - it is better to charge a Li-Ion battery MORE often then constantly letting it go flat. i.e. use it to 40%, then recharge. etc

to be honest

honestly though, the battery life is good at 10+ I'm getting 11+ easy. But, it should be noted that the battery is 4x the size of the one in the iphone.

It is actually 2x iphone batteries that are MORE than 2x as big. Meaning, it really SHOULD last at LEAST this long or longer.

considering an iphone is pretty much ALWAYS on with a cellular radio and or wifi, and being used and we complain it only lasts say 10 hours, less doing stuff. This device even with the larger screen should be able to easily top that.

thats good and all, but the screen is much larger, and its IPS!! those things use ALOT of power. not to mention the CPU (which contributes a bit).

Update:

I let the iPad charge overnight and it's much much better today. After 3 hours of non stop Internet browsing, I still have 77% battery life remaining.

Mine came fully charged. I spent a few hours web browsing, reading, and even tried out some iPhone games on it, and I don't even think I went down to 99%.

I've been using it for about 7 hours doing everything and I still have 43% left. I want to drain it completely before charging it back up again.

the batteries in the iPad are lithium polymer (aka lipos) they have been used in RC cars for years and my experience with the RC lipos is that they have to be broken in before they reach their maximum effectiveness, so i would assume the battery life will go up after a few cycles on the batteries

I got about 6 hours out of it.

The brightness is set to about 90%

The number one power draw is the backlight, if you are running near full on, you aren't likely to get much more than 6 hours.

I watched one of the big online reviews/hands on. He tested with full backlight and doing everything he could and he got about 6 hours, then he tried half brightness and got >10 hours.

How long is it taking people to recharge iPad? Mine will not increase the battery charge while it is plugged in if i am using it. Is this normal? Battery isn't going down, just staying stable if plugged in and in use.
