c) right click - as an old Mac user it is FRUSTRATING to need about 1-2 hours to solve the right click problem: in lxde you do not have the option to right click nor to use two finders on the trackpad. I searched for al long time to make the right click possible.

So, very fast and neat but nearly unusable when you are a linux noob. impossible to solve for a "normal" user.
I have right click and middle click working. Right click is three finger tap, middle finger is two finger tap.

Make the following directory:
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d

Then in that dir make a file named touchpad.conf with the following contents:
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "touchpad"
Driver "libinput"
MatchIsTouchpad "on"
Option "Tapping" "on"
Option "TappingButtonMap" "lmr"
EndSection

then:
sudo service lightdm (or lxdm) restart

All these tricks and tips can also be found in my forum. I will add more when I find solutions to problems.

i had problem with libinput therefore I did continue to use the Synaptics driver. I resolved my problem there with the value "TapButton". No.1 gets the number 1, No.2 0 and No.3 gets the 2. so rightcliking with two fingers is now possible.

yes, this is the correct naming. I used to modprobe i2c-dev and it’s loaded but without function. Maybe it is only the F keys? Have to check it out.

i2c-dev, when it was working on my 1.5ghz PB G4, gave me keyboard backlighting, but caused my entire system to stutter. Granted, this was while I was running Buster sid from May 2018. I haven’t tried it again since then...

I am playing around in a halfly installed MintPPC / 64-bits and I got Ice working :) Firefox 68.1.0esr installs ok and works ok-ish. Arctic Fox is better of course. I will rebuild some packages and try again later this week...
The screen tearing with this iMac is not acceptable. I will have to find a solution for this later on...
It looks like I have two screens...Is this the notorious phantom output ?
If I go to Menu -> Preferences _ Monitor Settings and disable VGA monitor, I have only 1 screen with screenshot. The Monitor settings as attached give me 1 screen and NO screen tearing :)

You are the man!

I can’t wait to try it again. Thanks for pushing on!

MintPPC / 64 works now. You can try it out. The only things that do not work are Software Manager (could not be installed due to missing libraries in the ports) and gnumeric (broken in the ports). I will try to fix this in the coming time. For now, I call it alpha testing time. See http://mintppc.nl Installation instructions for details. Good luck. Be aware that Nouveau does not work completely for the Nvidia card and screen tearing is seen when opening things like Arctic Fox up fullscreen.

Will try this tomorrow evening, can't wait!. Fantastic job Jeroen!

Moving round windows and displaying them becomes better by using compton and compon-conf. You get nice transparent windows too, see screenshot. Unfortunately, screen tearing is still there...Update: compton destroys my xorg.conf solution as posted below. Forget about compton then for nVidia.

Oh man, I think I solved the screen tearing issue more or less. I use an xorg.conf file I found on a bug report against xserver-xorg-video-nouveau, and it seems to be working !!! Even better, I only realize it now...I was the one who filed the bug report and found this solution hahahaha, LOL

@Jeroen Diederen

I've tried the new image ( booting from USB ), and while installing, just before the base system, I get this error

Weird, I have never seen this error myself. I'd be interested to see the log report. If you go back to the installer menu there is an option to look at the log file (look at sys). Basically the installer opens up a webserver and you can access it from another computer. Please past the relevant part here.
On a side note, I couldn't get my iMac G5 to install MintPPC as it does not see the cdrom as a repo. You might want to burn the iso on a CD, boot from it and try again.
You should also bear in mind that this is Debian sid, which can break all the time.

It seems that debian ports is getting updated again. I would try again tomorrow.

I wish someone could tell me how to repackage an official Debian netinstall cd. I would then be able to pull a stable snapshot of Debian ports and use it into the iso, so we would not be dependent on a broken Debian port anymore.
I am looking into 'debian-cd' now. This is the official software to produce installation images like business card, netinstall, CD or DVD.
