jeez, I watched a game a day this season but just cant get into theses games now.
I followed Arizona thanks to Steve Berthume and Bob Brenley
and cheered the they won sone close games down the stretch in September.

now I just dont care for some strange reason.
perhaps the FOX announcers are too technical an full of them selves?
or maybe these game really don't matter?

I watched "baseball inning 5" by ken burns after the second inning of last nights game
instead.

doctor, doctor what is wrong with me?

Yeah, the Diamondbacks attempted a late comeback but fell short. I fancy the rangers to close the series out now in 5, they have a lot of momentum and Eovaldi on the mound tonight.
something tells me Zack Gallen will pitch great tonight and the d-back win.
then get clobbered game 6.

I sympathise. They’re showing the postseason games on Dutch ESPN, but I haven’t been able to get into it either. It’s a bit meh - can’t get myself to root for either team, the motivation is just not there to get up at 2 AM to watch the live game.

So I just watch the highlights first thing in the morning, and talk about the game with my dad, who is more of a real fan of the game.

They still made it work!
Garcia will be a hugely missed asset, but his replacement Jankowski, did ok last night. The collision he had with the first baseman(?) I was amazed he was able to catch that pop up. 😬

Jankowsky did exactly what he was supposed to do: hit without looking for a HR, and run as fast as possible. Defensively, he also did what he was supposed to do, although he almost injured Lowe 😂

It's easy to get burned out by the looooong baseball season. And that's just watching it. Must be even worse for the players.

From the players perspective, it's definitely worse. From February to November, baseball is your entire life. 162 regular season games, plus spring training games and potentially post season games, it's a lot to sit through. To top it off, playing that many games, dealing with injuries and NOT getting into the post season to make it all worth it is such a mind-frag that I can't imagine the thoughts that go through players minds.

If you have to get up at 2am, forget it, completely understandable. :)

The essence of baseball, it’s a constant battle between the pitcher whose job is to deceive the batter into being unable to connect the bat to the ball that comes at him so fast it looks like it will be somewhere it’s not. The ball as a matter of routine crosses the strike zone in a curved trajectory. Mixed in are flaming fast balls and if the batter misinterprets, the anticipation/cadence of his swing will be off resulting in a strike or a foul.

Me and my dad lived for a year in Wellesley, just outside of Boston. This was in 1986, I was a teenager. So we supported the Red Sox. At the end of the year we moved back to the Netherlands, but we’ve stuck with the Red Sox. We went back a couple of times in 2007 and 2009 on “Fenway Park trips”, staying for a week or so and catching two or three games, watching a few of the stars of the time play. My dad is more a real fan of the game, but I’m catching up to him.

Not a lot of Dutch baseball players who were successful in the big leagues. There is, of course, Hall of Fame pitcher Bert Blyleven, who I grew up watching with his sumptuous curveball. Didi Gregorius is the other relatively successful example. The Giants had a Dutch prospect in the early 90s, Rikkert Faneyte, who didn't make it.

While not directly Dutch BUT close enough, the X-man!

He's from Aruba which according to Wikipedia, is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. I saw a TikTok video not too long ago about the intricacies of how The Netherlands govern their colonies/states/provinces (or however they view it) and it legit made my head hurt...

Game 5- Bottom of 3rd. DBacks outbpitching Rangers. They are getting shutdown. DBacks are getting hits. Rangers need to find their bats.

Lots of Ranger sweat in that inning.

Someone just no hit these rangers for six innings?
i hope the dbacks win tho!
Galen KILLED IT for the DBacks through 6 innings, no hits. Rangers found their bats in the 7th inning. Eovalde, the Ranger pitcher was in the middle of DBack anarchy for basically 6 innings, but miraculously DBacks were left hanging.
