Another incredible game. Hats off the Cleveland. Game 5 could have gone either way. I think their undoing was the Yankees Long Ball. Everyone was talking about Cleveland's untouchable Bull Pen. I agree they had the best BP in MLB this year, but it gave up 6 HR's over roughly 45 innings. That's tough to overcome. If one wants to Nit Pick you could put last nights loss on Rocchio. Without his 10th inning error Soto doesn't come to the plate.

Looking like a LA, NY series. It's always a grind on the Cross Continent ones. Hopefully we continue to see great October Baseball.
I'm still holding out for a "Subway Series" rematch from 2000.

As a born and bred New Yorker I was raised watching NYY (Mickey Mantle was my baseball idol) until 1964 a few years after NYM arrived. I remember seeing the Brooklyn Dodgers playing NYY in WS before they moved to LA and Giants to SF. To this day I'm still an avid NYM fan even after moving from NY 40 yrs ago. Once a NYer always a NYer.

If it's a NYY/LAD WS, I expect the Yankees to overpower the Dodgers pitching staff. I'm sure the Yankees are rooting for Mets to win game 6 tonight and force a game 7 tomorrow. Why wouldn't all of baseball (especially the media and MLB itself) have fingers crossed for another NYC "Subway Series". That'll be "must see TV" for baseball fans.

Because we hate those teams?

It's just another version of the rich getting richer...

That was a very good, competitive series. Even that Yankees game 3 loss I enjoyed as a baseball fan, even though I was dying inside.

I really hope we get a subway series because if it’s in LA, we’re definitely going to get a few day games. The World Series happening during work hours is lame.

Agreed. Games 3,4,and 5 were extraordinary from a purely fan perspective. I hear you on the day games.

Just a side note, an hour after my favorite team clinched the AL pennant, my favorite band of all time (DMB) officially got inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame right next door. And the sad thing is I was so exhausted from a busy day I fell asleep during both of them lol. Still, special night!

The stage is set! It’s the matchup everyone deserves, whether you wanted it or not! Yankees/Dodgers. Say what you want about either team, but the 2 biggest markets meeting in the World Series is great for the growth of the sport.

lol to the "greater good"...

It's great for those two cities, their team owners, FOX tv, and the execs in MLB.

MLB is pretty big as it is and growth couldn't possibly be a big concern for the league. They might say it is but I'm sure 'growth" just means money to them.

Indeed. The growth potential here is astronomical. Let's hope there is great baseball along with the marketing. We need to shut down Ohtani.

This will be our 12th World Series meeting with LA. You can almost taste the historical significance. I watched the 1978 Game 6 on Yankees Classics yesterday to prepare. Made me tingle watching all those Cooperstown Players.

Re: 1994. The Giants were playing better and making up ground in the NL West, but they were a much more flawed team than the previous year's 100 game winner. Matt Williams was making a legitimate run at 60 HR. I thought we had the next Mike Schmidt on our hands for a while, but injuries ultimately undermined his career.

The Expos were probably my second favorite NL team from the get-go. Young Andre Dawson, what a player he was. The 1981 NLCS loss to the Dodgers was a real heartbreaker.

As for the World Series matchup this year: I kind of liked holding it over Yankees fan that my club has won it three times since they last did, but here's hoping for a 1977 or 1978 redux, and not so much 1981.

It’ll all be deep in the night for me anyway. Its not worth it for me to be up from 3 AM just to watch a game, good sleep is too important a facet of my health.

Yankees/Dodgers is a yawner for me, but good for the game. I'll follow along because I'm a fan, but I'm not at all invested in the outcome.

Best of luck to all Yankees and Dodger fans and their corresponding haters pulling for the other team!

I think this is the WS that MLB, as a corporation, has been dreaming of.

The two teams that are the most marketable and profitable will be pulling in views from coast to coast AND they'll be banking on all of Japan watching Shohei the entire time.

However, both fanbases are insufferable and it wouldn't surprise me if a number of fans get into fights in both LA and NY. Hopefully, no serious injuries but I'm not ruling it out either.

That being said, I'll be watching game 1 with my dad who has been a Dodgers fan since he was a kid so I'm sure he's been salivating since last night.

Of course.

MONEYMONEYMONEYMONEYMONEY

And for all this talk about money, the funny thing is that with the exception of Rizzo, the entire Yankees ALCS lineup were either homegrown players or acquired by trade. And they only signed Rizzo right after they traded for him.

Really the only big contracts they signed Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon. And then there’s Judge, but he’s homegrown of course and he took less money to stay with the Yankees.

Without a doubt.

RIP Fernando Valenzuela. Even as a diehard Giants fan, this one hurts. Fernandomania in 1981 was a special moment in time. I can think of very few rookies who came onto the scene and had such an impact on the field and in pop culture.

While not a Dodger fan, but living in the area, and at a very young age, when this was going on, it was a special moment. He was everywhere and boy, it was fun actually. Didn't see this coming and it actually took me back a little bit reading the headline.

RIP Mr. Valenzuela...

Please understand -the MLB isn't hurting. Small market teams are hurting but the MLB is making bank so saying, "...it's good for baseball..." is just so much f**king nonsense. I'm having this same argument/discussion on another board. What's really good for baseball is having small market teams do really well so they can maybe attract some more fans, and revenue. And hopefully provide their owners some incentive to keep the team in town. If you're really hoping for "good for baseball" then you should have been praying for an OAK/TB/CHISox ALCS those three teams are really in desperate straits and OAK has already agreed to leave town. It's too bad CLE/DET was such an early match up.

Anyway, money changes everything...
