So I don't know if anyone knows this or not, but I am not about to ask this in the AW section of the forum. I saw someone complain about the notifications not syncing from the watch to the phone. If you dismiss the notification on your phone it does not dismiss it on the iPhone. Is this true, if so that is so crazy and stupid. Whats the point in having the watch

I saw the same comment in a thread over in the AW section by a poster listing his dislikes about the watch. He was quickly rebuffed by a handful of other posters who said it's been syncing fine. The OP then recanted, said it was only a stray email that apparently didn't immediately sync.

Oh ok, I did not see those comments. Thanks. When did you say you were getting yours?

The other problem with both of those designs is they tend to lean more masculine--that's leaving out a pretty substantial portion of consumers. ;)

And I think the opposite for the Apple Watch. Way to feminine looking for many men (myself included). I wish Apple would have left the 38mm the way it is, but altered the 42mm to be more masculine. After all, majority of women will buy the 38mm and the majority of men will buy the 42mm.

And yes, I know this way of thinking upsets many of you new Apple Watch owners, but it is my opinion.

Hey, not an owner yet. ;)

And I don't disagree. I think the best Android Wear has to offer all swing very masculine in look and size while the Apple Watch is a bit more feminine, though still more unisexual than most others. The choice in finish, size, and band style can influence it more in one direction or the other but, I tend to agree with your take.

And that's the great mystery, isn't it?

I'm in what appears to be either one of the most popular or one of the least produced models that had a 4/24-5/8 delivery range at launch, the 42mm stainless steel with black sports band. If you venture over to the AW forums, you'll see the thread with the 3rd highest amount of traffic speaks directly to the drama surrounding this model and the lack of apparent deliveries for it compared to other models. After spending a few minutes of reading whining posters acting like the world is coming to an end because they won't have their watch on launch day, I quickly departed. The level of melodrama in the watch forums is truly ridiculous.

Needless to say, I didn't get mine delivered yesterday but not a big deal. So I'm expecting to see it sometime in the next week or two. Heck, haven't even done anything other than top off the charge on my wife's. I guess my fanaticism has subside with my old age. ;)

Well good luck. After about a month after Apple's last event I stayed away for the AW section for the most part. Just filled with fanboys screaming about how great the AW was.

I am just going to wait on the 2nd versions and see if they improve it any. I will stick with my moto 360 which I love. I think it looks better, and I like android wear better right now. Is Apple giving the OS on the AW a name?

I believe it's called Watch OS. The version number on my wife's is 1.0.

All this talk made me pull out her watch and at least go through the pairing and setup. It was actually a breeze--pairing is cool, after you open the Watch app on the phone and start the pairing, you actually hold the watch under the camera viewfinder, line it up with the outline the app gives and voila, watch is paired. You then are walked through a couple more steps, it syncs and off you go customizing the settings. I'll dive deeper into it later.

Wait, why would you need to hold the watch up in front of the camera on the phone for pairing? Does a qr code display on the watch face or something? This seems awfully strange? If it is BT paired, there should be no reason for this?

You don't have to pair it that way...there's a link on the screen to pair it using traditional pairing step as well. When you use the camera method, the watch has this sort of swirly cloud on the display--when I put pairs both the watch and the iPhone have the same image in sync. I don't know exact what it uses to verify/complete the pairing but it was super quick and easy. I'll try to remember to record a video of the process when I eventually get my watch.

This sounds exactly like how I pair my security cameras with the corresponding iphone app. It is an extremely simple method and works 99% of the time. Now that I think about it, it was very smart of Apple to use this method of pairing. Even technological clues grandma will have no issue pairing her phone and watch.

So made a what I think it a more pimped out AW watchface for my moto 360. Well the base is from a site, but I added the rest the stuff to it, and changed the colors to my liking.

Can you dump the digital clock on the left and replace that space with your battery level? And dump the Ök Google at the top. Both seem redundant and over-crowd the watch face, IMO.

Yep you can move anything you want around. I just prefer the digital read out too. I put that in myself. I actually have the watch battery down in the right bottom, but you can add steps, heart rate, or your phone battery. Pretty much anything

I like the overall look, it just is a bit over-crowded for my tastes. I'd delete the OK Google at the top and the digital clock. In place of where the digital clock is, I'd place the battery level and weather info on a single line right there. That would clean the face up IMO. Just what I would do. ;)

BTW, meant to tell you the Milanese Loop for the Apple Watch is probably the best looking watchband on the market. Even though I'm no fan of the looks of the Apple Watch, yours is the best looking version and if I was going to get one, it would be that exact set up you have. ;)

Would anyone with one of these say the software has been optimized since original purchase?

I love my nexus 6 and was looking at how nice the hardware but heard such bad things about leggy performance and screen quality.

But man they look sharp!

I have had super smooth performance. No issues at all. I love mine, and have not had lag at all.

Looking forwrd to see how the new Android Wear update allows you to use WiFi. Will all notifications/texts/data come through via WiFi internet connection and not wait for a reconnection to the phone (like how the Apple Watch uses WiFi) in order to get everything?

Hoping it goes on sale or do we know when the next version is due?

Mines been smooth since the beginning, but battery has really improved since I first got it. At this point though, unless you can find a really good deal, it might be best to wait until the next version. The last one was announced in June and released in September.

They did that sale about 2 weeks ago at best buy, but I think its like $179 right now. People think the new one will be out some time maybe in the summer, but who knows. Oh and thanks. It actually took some time to get it to look the way I wanted.

I think it stays connected over WiFi, but I am not sure. The android wear app has updated, but I have not gotten the update on the watch.
