What battery life / SOT were you getting ?

Most reviews seem to put a days use with 4 hours SOT the average ?

About 3 hrs. I think the LCD/IPS display was a bad choice because AMOLED is better. That's why the GN5 can have good battery life w/ having a smaller battery and tons of pixels to push.

I also didn't like the screen response to Swiftkey. That's my keyboard no matter the Android device. It was making too many typing errors that were not user errors. I like the Moto features and the build quality, but let's face it, it asks for too many compromises. When will Google make a good camera app too? A tap to take a photo on anywhere on the screen is counterintuitive since I need to tap to focus instead. Look, it's selling out at Best Buy's here and people really love the spec sheet for the price. I just feel like it has too many compromises when what's coming out in a few weeks just simply will outclass it, aka the Nexus 5X and 6P. I hope you can adjust the battery life to meet your needs. My iPhone 6+ gives me adequate life, but with constant usage w/ texts and social media on wifi killed my Moto X. I returned it after one day.

Doesn't battery life on Android generally get better after a few days (in my own experience anyway) and unlikely to be totally indicative after 24 hours.

My S6 Edge + only got around 3 hours SOT yesterday on Wifi & Cellular, yet take the sim out and I get around 5 SOT - so carrier & network activity also definitely impacts battery - certainly more so than AMOLED technology. The 6+ gets great battery despite being LCD for example.

You can in camera settings enable drag to focus to offer a reticule so you can manually focus on subjects.

But again - it's really just a case of different boats for different folks I guess. We all have a list of things we value or have preference for - just a case that the Moto X Pure didn't do it for you. :) Hopefully Nexus 5X / 6P offer closer to what you're looking for.

My Moto Pure Edition arrived today and I have to say I am disappointed with the screen. After owning nearly a dozen of android phones I have never had any light leak issues like this. Is this something that will go away overtime or do I have to RMA the device? Since I live in Vancouver, BC it's going to be a major inconvenience to go back to the states to ship it back. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't think that's going to resolve over time.

Send it back. I would.

That's a fault. You need to RMA it I'm afraid.

When the first moto x style was first announced back in August and all of those preliminary hands on videos came out if you pay attention you can see some pretty terrible light bleed on some of those videos. Luckily I got a good screen. I actually really like it. Better than my Nexus 5 which I was always pretty happy with. Anyone who gets bad lightbleed should exchange immediately because there are good screens out there and it is worth it.

My only issues are potentially battery life (too early to tell) and heat. This thing seems to heat up really quickly. I've only had it for a day and a half though so I'll give it some time.

To anyone worried about the size, I can say that I am loving it as my first big phone (previous was Nexus 5). I have pretty small hands too :)

Say it isn't so Moto.......unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty?

http://www.xda-developers.com/xda-e...r-of-the-2015-moto-x-pure-voids-the-warranty/

Actually what they are saying is if its hardware defect they will still honour the warranty but they won't honour it if the fault is software related which sounds pretty fair tbh. Certainly fairer than some other OEMS. Definetly a case that Android manufacturers are reigning in the modding scene, but I guess from a business standpoint that does make sense.

Is anyone else having second thoughts about keeping the MXPE after seeing the leaked specs of the Nexus 6P?

http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...tal-body-gorilla-glass-4-and-3450mah-battery/

The MXPE is really growing on me despite its faults (battery, heat, slight performance hiccups) and I LOVE the way mine looks. I also really appreciate the small bezels. But 3450mah battery in the Nexus 6P + a camera that will probably be better quality but probably not as easy to use or as fast as the MXPE...The Nexus will probably also have band 12 support and Wifi calling for T-mobile.

I have until Oct 1st to return which isn't really enough time for proper reviews on the Nexus 6P to come out.

Thoughts?

Pricing is the big difference. The 6P will be 55-60% more expensive 400 v 649.

If your concerned over heat with the 808, then then you should be potentially more worried with the 810.

Camera quality has never been a strong point on a nexus device and Google camera software is more barebones than moto's already slim offering.

Personally I'd wait until reviews come out. It has potential to be great but likewise potential to be expensive and mediocre. But if you want to chance returning your moto and trying the 6P go for it. Quench your curiosity. You can always return the 6P if you decide you don't like it.

Agreed. I'm not one of those people who refuses to pay good money for good hardware though. Honestly if it is actually a no compromise Nexus (like the Nexus 6 was supposed to be last year) that would easily be worth $650 to me.

I'll probably hang on to my MXPE for the time being though and see how things play out. I know basically nothing about Huawei as an OEM and it is certainly possible for OEMs to mess up a nexus device even with google involvement (see Asus Nexus 7 2012 and the HTC Nexus 9). I would really want at least 2 months to get real user reviews and I really do like my Moto X. I just hate knowing that there is something better out there...sad I know.

Don't have one yet (it wouldn't be for me anyway, but, a family member), but, it is on the short list-- we will be needing to replace a Samsung soon. I haven't touched an MXPE, but, it looks perfect except for the possible problem with battery life.

The MXPE is really growing on me despite its faults (battery, heat, slight performance hiccups) and I LOVE the way mine looks. I also really appreciate the small bezels. The MXPE has all the right LTE bands for our U.S. and international travel needs-- finally. Previously, only the iPhone had this. Screen is big enough to read/write email. Native 64-bit Android that can actually be upgraded. What's not to like? (Except possibly battery life.)

I could not go for the Pure because I was going to sell my Nexus 6 and then go for it. Problem is the N6 is not really worth much on the used market.

Got my Moto X Style. It's really nice and feels very premium. Screen quality is great, not sure why it has been criticised for off viewing angles as it's a match for my iPhone 6 Plus and very bright and clear at all viewing angles. It's not as bright as the S6 Edge or Note 5 but it's very good regardless. Colour accuracy and such is great.

Just installed all my apps and set it up and now to charge it fully.

Speakers are very loud. Nexus 6 loud. Device gets warm on the turbo charger and during initial setup.

The soft grip texture on the back works. It lends the device a very nice warm feel in the hand accented by the metal.

So far very impressed but we're talking less than an hour.

Memory management is just as good as it was on the Nexus 6. I've got over a dozen apps open with no refreshing / reloading.

Battery, Camera and general day to day usage yet to be determined. So far no hint of slowdown or lag even when installing my apps initially. Has the Android M Google Now launcher where my only criticism would be DPI needs adjusting as it only allows 4 icon row when clearly device would benefit from 5.

Here's some pics comparing it size to my white iPhone 6 Plus and viewing angles. All very much on par with each other.

It looks really nice in gold/white, thanks for posting the pics :)
Which one do you prefer out of these two, iphone 6+ or moto x style? I cant decide which one should I buy... I'd like to try the iPhone, but alot of people here are saying that it has performance issues(and 6S+ will be too expensive here :/)

I've never had performance issues with my 6+ in fairness its been consistently solid since I got it last year.

As preference between them is so far? It's too early to call given I've had the moto x style less than a day.

Essentially I think it boils down to which OS you prefer as both offer a great slice of ios out android.
