Got my Pure today. First thing, I love the screen. It blows away the Nexus 6, both in brightness, color saturation, and sharpness. The Pure even appears to be a higher PPI than the Galaxy S6 because the S6 still uses a Pentile/Diamond matrix.

The only complaint I have so far is a shadow/spot at the top right corner of the screen that is noticeable on solid colors -- both light and dark.

Since I own many smartphones, the N6 isn't going to be the only one I compare the Moto to as far as brightness and saturation and sharpness.

In each and every case so far I always preferred the iPhone 6 Plus overall for the screen. Too bad there are other things that irk me about it though, namely its overall size.

Clove.co.uk just emailed me. My Moto X Style should ship on the 23rd September - two days later than they had expected.

Just got my Moto X PE. Man, if I could justify having two phones, this would definitely be the other. Size is great for the screen size you get.

Can anyone compare the signal they are getting/got on their Moto X(2015) to either a Galaxy S6/S6 edge because the only reason I sold my S6 edge was the **** signal.

Really tempted by the Moto X but just want to check first. My Moto X 2014 had no problem with signal but then either did my Note 4 but Samsung fouled up with the signal on their new phones and I just want to check that Motorola hasn't done the same.

Will do as soon as I get mine. We have a number of black spots near me which always a good tester of a phone - whether it drops call or manages to cling on.

Yeah, I have a hole part of my garage back home in Wexford with boxes of phones and I live in the UK so I don't even keep them all in the same country.

What I found was the signal on my iP6/Note 4/Moto X 2014 and others on the same network had 80% signal even inside my house but with the S6 edge it was at the most 25% which ruined the experience of the Samsung for me.

On the other hand the S6 edge connected to my home wifi as soon as I got to my gate where as the iP6 had to be just at the front door. All in all I'd take cellular signal over wifi any day.

I read elsewhere the Pure is using almost 1GB ram with nothing opened after startup. My Moto X 2014 only uses half of that. And the 16GB storage has only 9.5 available. Anyone can confirm?

And why the heck would the system be using 1GB of ram initially?

Yes the system uses between 1 and 1.1 GB of ram. My 16GB has exactly 9.5GB of free space and about 2GB of that is eaten up by Google and Moto preinstalled apps.

I've had the phone for 5 days now so I thought I'd share a few observations for people on the fence:

-The screen is really nice. Very sharp, very uniform and has no light bleed. The colors are a bit muted even on the vibrant mode. Viewing angles are excellent. QHD seems pretty pointless though. There are times when I can tell the 808's GPU is struggling to drive that many pixels.
-The camera is disappointing, but its Motorola so no surprise there. It struggles a lot when there is a localized source of bright light like a bright overhead light or an open window. Even with HDR it can't seem to get the exposure right. The low light performance is just pathetic.
-Battery life is mediocre. Its not terrible, but its not very good either. 4ish hours of SOT and 12 hours of total use is what I'm averaging. Standby drain is pretty high with Moto's features turned on.
-Charging is very fast, but only if you use Moto's turbo charger. I have two other quick charge 2.0 chargers at home. One doesn't work with the MXP at all, the other simply charges at the normal rate with takes about 3 hours. The phone gets very hot during turbo charging.

On the contrary, I found the viewing angles to be a bit poor. Which defeats the purpose of active display as the display washes out and makes it hard to see the notification come in.

I would say 4 hours of SOT sounds very good. It's the "12 hours of total use" that I'm worried about. Does your phone have enough juice to last a whole day - with the battery at above 15% at the end of day?

I was hoping to pick up Moto X but now I guess I've to spend more and get a 6S+. I'm kinda getting tired with the poor hardware performance of the androids.. :(

The SOT is fine, it's the poor standby that's bothering me. I've had to top it off before the end of the day every day that I've had it.
There seems to be some rouge wakelocks eating the battery, but I haven't been able to pin them down yet. And with Lenovo firing Motorola's software team I'm not optimistic about bug fixes and updates.

Yesterday I got exactly 4 hrs of SOT using LTE only and about 20% brightness from about 100-10%. With WiFi or mixed use I expect to be able to hit 5-6 hrs easily, but I have unlimited data still And wanted to see how much battery life I can get under a worst case scenario.

Coming from an iPhone 6+ it would seem subpar but you have to realize there are trade-offs involved moving to android and having so much more customization and sheer capabilities. I'll go from charging my phone 4 or 5 times a week to 7 to 8. It's really not a big deal unless I have gps/maps involved and that's the only scenario where I have to conserve.

At least now my phone's browser won't crash and I have a native file system.

Bought a Moto X Pure Edition 16gb from Best Buy to try out for a few days to see if I like it and then sell my unopened M9 and my S6 coming in the mail. Nice build quality to say the least. I also enjoy the zippy experience.

Yes, that's pretty much what I feel about the standby time.

The 2nd bit in your is what is even getting me to contemplate spending a bucket load of money on an iPhone 6s+.
It might sound repetitive, but I'm tired of spending my time detecting wakelocks, rooting and customizing so many things to "my liking" - I just want to be content with what I get out of the box and that should "just work".

Not sure if I'm sounding stupid :p

Didn't like the battery life on the Moto X Pure. If you can spend more than $400 to get the latest specs, please don't waste your time with that device.

What battery life / SOT were you getting ?

Most reviews seem to put a days use with 4 hours SOT the average ?

Looks like a decent device for the money from the reviews I've seen so far. Battery reports seem to vary a bit but this could be anything from early cycles to user circumstances.

I won't be trying it out despite thinking long and hard about it. It's a deal breaker not having a fingerprint scanner having become accustomed to them for unlocking a phone quickly and easily. Whilst the speakers are great, I'd rather have something I used tens, if not hundreds, of times a day, every day in that space.
