It may be something with my account, but I got all sorts of errors linking MoviesAnywhere with iTunes. Perhaps just day 1 issues?

It asked to migrate my Disney Movies Anywhere movies, then threw up all sorts of errors and said it failed and asked me to try again. I did, same results. But, my DMA movies are there.

I tried to connect my iTunes account, but it said I needed to disconnect my DMA account. I tried, it gave an error. Now it shows iTunes “CONNECTED” but none of my iTunes moves are on my MA account.

Yeah it takes a bit. MA was recommending at least an hour for the initial populating to happen.

Tried to play despicable me 1/2 in DV 24hz and the screen is almost totally black. All other movies in DV work fine. Any ideas?

I've been able to reproduce what the other poster says. 4K movies redeemed from VUDU cap out at 2228x928 (or thereabouts). Examples are both Lego Movies, Deadpool, Spider-Man 2. That's WB, Fox, and Sony studios. 4K movies I've purchased naturally on iTunes, like Arrival and John Wick, play in 3480x1600 no problem.

Definitely a difference, hopefully a glitch. I'm contacting Apple about it in just a minute

Saw your post on NeoGAF - hopefully the advisors are wrong. But if it's true that it's only direct redeems or purchases on iTunes, then I'll just stick with Vudu.

If Apple caps Movies Anywhere Movies to not true 4K then they need to create a way to upgrade the movie since there is no way through iTunes since according to iTunes you already own the movie.

There is a trick to re-buy a movie you already own: on the iTunes store page of the movie, click the arrow next to the "Play" button and select "gift this movie". Enter your own email address and check out. Then redeem the code you receive.

But I suggest to wait for further clarification. 4K playback has been quite inconsistent even without Movies Anywhere. It could be just a glitch.

If Apple really really wants us to pay more for true 4K versions you would think there would be a different way than gifting your movie to yourself.

I have several purchased movies not transferring over. Gravity is one I own on Google and it's from Warner Bros but it won't show.
I haven't heard if new line cinemas is supported but lord of the rings won't show up either.

Is everything up and running 100% as of tonight? I had a library of 970 movies on VUDU, with my uvvu/flixster accounts linked there before movies anywhere launched. After creating the new account, my VUDU library shot up to 1125.

Now with iTunes, it seems nothing has really happened yet. Movies like Wonder Woman that were UV only are not popping in my iTunes library. Does this mean the only way to watch my UV only movies is through an app on iOS or apple tv? Or will they naturally sync like my VUDU library did and just show up under all of my idevices?

Gravity and the LOTR should both port over - they did for me.

Don't think so yet. Lots of people not seeing things port. I think as the day went on things slowed down.

Wonder Woman ports. If you aren't sure, check the movie on Vudu and see if the MA logo is there.

Wonder Woman has always showed up under VUDU and does show in the iOS movies anywhere app. My query is will Wonder Woman show up naturally under my iTunes library, just like how former iTunes only movies automatically show up in my VUDU library?

I ask mainly because at this time I own an Apple TV 3 and cannot download any apps. So for me to watch Wonder Woman, I have to open the VUDU app on another device. I'd like to just turn on my ATV3 and stream it from my collection there.

I don’t know about any body else but I’m definitely seeing some syncing issues.

I redeemed a code in Sony UV. It took about 1hr to appear in Vudu, I checked in vudu and the movie has a Movies Anywhere logo on it but it has failed to appear in Movies Anywhere.

I’m now going on 3 hours or so and still not appeared in Movies Anywhere.

Yes, MA ported movies show up in your iTunes account. You can stream directly from iTunes, you don't need the MA app.

I wonder if this is a syncing/time issue. I created the account and synced a few hours. My VUDU library is loaded, my iTunes library is stagnant.

As it stands, on any of my iOS devices, the only way to stream UV only titles like Wonder Woman is through the downloaded movies anywhere app. From what you're saying, Wonder Woman should just automatically appear under "TV" or "my movies" on my ATV3.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Yes, it should. Give it some time. I imagine their servers must be swamped with database updates right now.

Yeah I was presuming the same.

Here's where I'm concerned going forward:

I've always leaned towards iTunes codes instead of UV, if available. Based on my research, the audio output from my ATV3 has always been leaps and bounds better than on the VUDU app on my PS3/PS4. All are connected to a calibrated home theater, a 7.1 Onkyo THX receiver, and a 12in sub on a riser. I've demo'ed many movies, and acoustics have always been better, as well as LFE deeper on my ATV3. So with the studios such as Fox making you choose, I picked iTunes codes for the past several years.

With this new change, I wonder what is going to be the best A/V experience from now on. Will originally UV only titles look and sound better on my ATV3, or will they be better on VUDU/the movies anywhere tvOS app (which I can't get yet)? Or even more confusing, once my itunes library syncs, will the itunes library have the same A/V output as an ATV4 and the MA app?

Leaving the 4K issue aside, they should look and sound the same as if you bought the movies on iTunes directly. It is highly unlikely that Apple would maintain different sets of files for ported and purchased movies.

I haven't tested it thoroughly yet, but one movie I just tried (The Lego Movie) appeared to play in stereo (!) in the Movies Anywhere app for ATV4. So that app is probably not the best option.

If you're still using the ATV3, you will not get 7.1 DD+ which some iTunes movies now include when you stream them from the cloud (as opposed to downloading them in iTunes). That is only available with the ATV4. However, the 4 has had its own audio problems in the past (many people experienced a lack of dynamic range when playing iTunes movies). For now you're probably best off sticking with the ATV3 as long as you don't need any apps that are only available on the 4.

My current setup is a Panasonic Viera plasma 50in TV, Onkyo SR705, and a custom 7.1 speaker setup. I have a substantial BD collection though switched to digital a couple years back. Through testing I found my iTunes/ATV3 movies sounded better over ultraviolet/VUDU, particularly the LFE. I'd test the same movie, same scenes, on both services and ATV always won.

Now I plan to buy an ATV5 as soon as a local store gets one in stock. Then going forward I know I'm diving into a money pit of upgrades, new TV, new receiver, new PS4 pro, and so on. Presently I just plan to buy the ATV5 primarily for apps and to be ready for my pending 4k upgrade.

I only have 3 movies that didn’t port. 2 google movies Interstellar and Arrival. 1 Amazon movie X-men days of future past.

Are these movies not portable?

Interstellar and Arrival won't because they are Paramount.

Days of Future Past should. Give it some time. You may have to unlink/relink Amazon (but I wouldn't do that now - let things settle down).

Thanks, I will wait out X-men. Time to buy an Apple 4K tomorrow. This is a big deal, having movies from all over pop up in place is a great thing.
