I just tried it on Catalina to see how it looked and noticed there is no way to share the music library in Catalina at least the way I was doing it in iTunes (was using the "computer icon" on the apple TV to access the shared library from Mojave)

Maybe this has been moved somewhere else in the preferences - but I could not find it - so it seems that sharing is a missing feature?

I believe this has now moved to System Preferences:

The music app is such a travesty. It seems like no one at Apple uses it (dogfooding).

There is no option to view album artwork in the "Songs" view. We are supposed to scroll through a wall of text, I guess.
Album View is 4 , 5, or 6 albums wide depending on how big the window is. Want to see more? Too bad.
Select an album and instead of it expanding you can only see that one album. Remember trackpad gestures such as two finger swipe to go back? LOL Forget about it! You have to click this small back button that seems to need a giant empty box the full width of the app to exist.

If I have Up Next panel open on Album View it covers the albums on the right column instead of pushing them over.

This also happens on Artist View... it covers up time and star ratings on the right. Terrible, but at least doesn't hide songs. Also, my 6-core MacBook can't scroll this list smoothly.

I have installed latest PB onto iPhone 8 and onto MacBook Pro 2015 13". On my iPhone Apple Music is perfect, hundreds of albums, all playlists there, all artwork. On my MacBook I have 12 albums and 23 songs! Any ideas on what I can do please?

I thought I had the same issue, then went into Music Preferences and had to tick Sync Library. It appears Apple Music was turned off. For a moment it said synching library in the bottom left, then that disappeared, then all my playlists popped up.

Does this apply to your situation?

Yes it did and I had to do the same and it worked. However, now I have no music library and I can't find it or create a new one. I did have one when I first installed, but now gone and my backup, which I just reinstalled has not got the folders either.

^^^^^there could be a few issues

did you click change? and point music to the media folder?

Also did you move the media from the old drive / previous mac to the new media folder?

you can start a new import - hold the option/alt key when opening itunes

If you click change, it cannot find a music folder and stops with an error message about original item cannot be found. Reset does nothing at all. I will have to try to find another copy of it off the old drive, but that means I will have to reinstall it.

I just tried playing a few old CD's in Music (Catalina)- seems to work - if you have a CD player connected

I had previously ripped one of these albums into iTunes as "MP3 files" back in the day, and the artwork was done automatically back then - ie Seal - Bring it on - see attached image - below

Now when importing into Music - it offers the track names but no artwork or any other info ? no Artwork? :(

Again yes this is the beta and maybe all will be fixed later?

Some of the advanced playback features (for example Sound Check, Equalizer settings, Volume Adjust and Start/Stop) are not working when AirPlay playback is enabled.

You would of though Apple would of learnt from Maps about potentially releasing under baked software
Which wouldn't be that much of an issue if Music was a separate app which is updated regularly through the App Store. If iOS is any indication it will be updated infrequently as a part of system updates.

Is there still a way to disable Apple Music entirely, including removing it from the sidebar?

It's present on all screenshots that I've seen so far and I'm wondering whether that's because nobody bothered to disable it yet or because you can't disable it.

Damn, the Preferences window still has those "OK and Cancel" buttons? Everywhere else in macOS preferences are updated on the fly and don't need additional confirmation through an OK button. I believe that's still a leftover from the Mac OS 9 days. It's clear Music isn't a full rewrite, but simply a rebranded iTunes version. That's kinda sad.

I’m starting too think that too, even though they said it was built from the ground up. Then again it could be from the ground up with all the bugs???

Just out of interest are missing artwork and libraries vanishing off IOS devices still a thing in these latest betas?

There's no way Music is build from the ground up with a preferences window like that. It just happens to be a near exact copy of the one iTunes currently has, including those OK and Cancel buttons and centered icons at the top? I don't buy it.

Saddening really. You'd think at some point in those 18 years they could have bothered with building a truly native Mac OS X/OS X/macOS music app instead of continuing with this Carbon hangover.

Anyone seeing this issue? A bunch of my Albums are split in 2. All the files are in the same folder and all the info is correct.

feels like a mix of old itunes and catalyst/marzipan ipad version.

the back button/panel in music triggers me so badly. there are so many design flaws in catalina and I bet we will have to stick with them for at least a year.

If I have Up Next panel open on Album View it covers the albums on the right column instead of pushing them over.

I guess that's because the app is not designed for larger screens.
