On GM - everything is pretty much unscathed..all album artwork ok and a few more artist pics than I had previously. Apart from a few initial 'wobbles' synchronising playlists with my iPhone, it's not bad at all.

The remote app in control centre still isn't working from iOS to the Music or Podcast app on Catalina for me. Anyone else got this working?

Not working for me either. Remote allows access to my Music Library, and all my albums are displayed, but when I try to play anything nothing happens.

Pleased to hear album art and syncing seem to be working a lot better now. Might take the plunge on release day then

Well, I'm getting a prompt to upgrade my iCloud Backup Drive to 200 GB in order to guarantee Family Sharing, so I have a feeling in order for Remote to work you need to upload your entire Music library to the cloud. Since I don't have nearly enough iCloud storage to handle my entire library, if Remote does indeed access your media in the cloud then that would explain why it's not working for me either.

Anyone having problems using the "Automatically Add to Music" folder? It won't let me add files to the folder when it's in the sidebar. This is how I always used to add music to iTunes - simply drag and drop my files and it would automatically add them to iTunes. Anyone having issues using the folder?

Try closing the app and then reopening.

  1. Album/song view: Can't view albums in place. Music has a separate page for every album. Artist view can view them in a list.

Enjoy the app overall, but hate hate hate this.

I also wish I could reorder Apple Music and Library in the sidebar. I want Library on top.

Also hate that I can't seem to copy the album artwork? I used to be able to drag the artwork to the desktop, can't seem to do that now.

I have 100s of playlists.

I display these as songs with my own selection of fields. Music has converted them to a playlist view.

When I change them to song view, Music has decided the fields I will see are not the ones I set up in iTunes.
Also, of course, I cannot see the artwork

This will involve such a large editing job for me I think I am going to stick with iTunes/Mojave
(I had copied everything to a Catalina machine to see what it would look like)

Loading artwork and activity monitor goes crazy. 15GB of memory just for iTunes.

Anyone found a solution? Will this stop after it loads everything?

My equalizer no longer works after you close the window? Open the window and toggle pre amp on / off and the equalizer will work again until the window is closed then it quits?

Same issue here, Music eats up 100% of CPU (I have a 4 core cpu), 20 to 40 GB of memory but almost no internet traffic according to activity monitor. So I guess it's not downloading anything.

I'll just give it a few hours and see what happens.

I think it’s indexing the artwork or something. I have a "no artwork" smart playlist and it goes down by 100 tracks every 10 minutes or so.

What a terrible update though.

it won’t even allow me access, the only one I can even get too is on my Apple TV

I could only access the Library on my Mac using HomeShare. The 'four digit code' thing from the Remote app doesn't prompt anything in Music.App on the Mac.

Wondering if anyone else has missed the iOS remote app function that seems to be half baked at the moment. I can see all the playlists but not actually control anything. Any word or updates about restoration of this function?

Same.

They've also removed the Internet Radio Stations which sucks.

Good lord what a mess the library became... again. The countless times that AM has arbitrarily split albums across various other albums and collections for absolutely no reason, and I’ve had to delete them and add them again and hope the corruption doesn’t reoccur. With Catalina I’m watching it happen in real time.

Example: Anna Ternheim, Somebody Outside, Swedish alternative pop album from 2004. Was in my library for years. Got messed up by AM (either after my Catalina install this morning or it happened earlier but I failed to notice), so I deleted it to start over.

I search the album in Apple Music on my iPad. Suddenly it’s missing from her selection of ”regular” albums, instead it’s considered a compilation (it absolutely ain’t one) from 2005. 11 songs. Genre: Alternative. Checks out, except the compilation thing. I add it to my library on the iPad.

I look over at Music in Catalina on my MBP. The album pops up... as two separate albums. No longer compilations, the genre is suddenly Classical (huh?), the year is suddenly 2006. Songs 1-10 end up as one album. Song 11 a separate and obviously incomplete album. I click on another artist in the artist column. Then back to Anna Ternheim. Now the two albums have merged without me doing anything... and voilà: Now there are 21 songs (1-10 have become duplicate items, 11 is still just the one). I do a ”select all” and delete the whole lot. The 22 songs disappear... only to be instantly replaced with a weird ghost iteration of the album, this time with 9 songs, no album cover and no release year. I select all and right click, but the menu has no delete option now. Great. The undeletable ghost album with 9 songs is now part of my library (but only on the MBP) and fully listenable.
So... what happens if I click ”show album in Apple Music”? Well well... now it shows me the ”compilation” ”Alternative” version (songs 10+11 have plus signs next to them) that I initially added to my library on the iPad but was split across two ”Classical” albums on the Mac. Except the release year has now changed from 2005 to 2006. I click the add button to consolidate the 9 with the 2 missing songs. Yup, now I have the ”2006 alternative compilation” in the library on the Mac. I close the Music app and open it again. Now it’s changed to the ”2006 classical” version again.

Were you able to follow any of this? No. So now you know how I feel. Spotify, why did I leave you for this mental patient of an app...
