Hi there - I was used to add lyrics manually using the 'custom lyrics' but couldn't do it tonight on some .wav files.
Is it a bug or wav files won't accept lyrics ? ( I did it on mp3 and aiff, but can't remember I did it on wav files before). My Music version is 1.1.2.28 on 11.1.

It might not accept input if your Cloud Library is uploading your files. If that's not the case, it counts as a bug I guess.

Thanks @funkypepper I'm not connected to the Cloud Library. I think it's rather the WAV files that do not handle lyrics and other 'advanced' data about a song - what I've read on wikipedia. Nevermind, I could add lyrics on my AIFF files. I also saw that lyrics do display in the right field *only* when the song is playing, otherwise the lyrics field has a message No Lyrics for this song (or something close to that). So OK my lyrics are here, but I can't have a look at them except when listening to that song, which is a weird behavior.

I think one feature is really missing on Music: A way to easily access browse read enjoy the album art while listening to it. Only a small thumbnail is available actually, not clickable for more, while we may have plenty of images or even pdf for a given album.

Wav files don't support the lyrics ID tag. AIFF does.

I finally updated from Catalina to Big Sur (11.2), and aftera week positive to say no notewothyissues. All of my 100+ playlists and folders seemed to be in order, no files randomly missing, artwork is not missing, visualiser working fine...basically a night and day difference from my previous transition.

If any one else still hesitant whilst your use case may vary, 11.2 seems to be a failry stable place to upgrade.

I'm reaching out since I can't find an answer, is there a way to hide this insanely big playlist cover art? I've looked everywhere, and can't figure it out.

Already replied to the DM, but for everyone else:

Drag the edge between the art and the track numbers to make it smaller. You can hide it with View Options (cmd J) but it will be back next restart (unless you nuke your iTunes preferences - which causes its own headaches having to re-set up playlist views from scratch etc.)

Hi,

I've recently purchased a MacBook Pro M1 13" (I'm new to Mac)

My issue:

I connected my iPhone to my Mac via USB C / Lightning cable.
I am able to transfer files to my iPhone or delete them.
But when I click on ANY song, it does nothing whatsoever,
No error, no message, it just doesn't play the song.
I also can't create any playlist on my iPhone through the Music App, or I can't see the existing one.

If I connect to a Windows PC, I can play any song which I select.

I've already set to manually mange music, and the Mac is authorised.

Do I need to restore my phone or what kind of preferences do I need to change to enable music play from my iPhone?
The phone was originally set up on a PC.

I have Apple Music along with a subscription to iTunes Match, and I’m having an issue where every music track I add to my library changes status to “Waiting”, but then a duplicate of that same track populates (not downloaded) showing either Matched or Uploaded. I’m able to delete the initial tracks listed as “Waiting” and restart the Music app and download my tracks again. And this doesn’t reflect on my iPhone or my iPad. My library on those devices looks accurate, with the tracks added and listed just once, normally. This has been an issue for me throughout Big Sur.

Are you sure you're talking about the same thing? I don't think you can make the ridiculously large artwork above the track list smaller, unfortunately.

Yes, sorry, I was confused with the DM which mentioned a screenshot of mine having smaller cover art, which I thought to mean the artwork in the song list.

First time importing from a CD to Music on my M1 Mac Mini. I noticed that the import progress for each track no longer shows. Why do Apple keep subtracting features, without adding much that is of any benefit to end users but only to their already bulging pockets.

FYI with the new Big Sur Beta, my issue (and some others' here as well) streaming from Music to my Airport Express is solved.

The constant lag time when I try and look at my library sorted by artist, add new music, and a lot of other basic tasks is getting tiring. I use iTunes as a music manager and a player. I haven’t been able to find an iTunes replacement, but would love to hear if someone else has found something that is better.

sorry, I refer to Music as iTunes still.

Can you get iTunes and use it on Big Sur? How?

It's right there in the first wiki post.
As stated multiple times in the thread I'm sure, yes you can install and happily run iTunes on Big Sur and Catalina by using Retroactive to install iTunes. (M1 seem to have issues but I'm on Intel )

Personal choice, but I much prefer it than to use multiple apps such as TV, Music, Podcasts and Books. I never had issues with iTunes and like the fact that everything is in one place and bugs/glitches are at a minimum.

Your mileage may vary.

Man, that sounds good—but I'm still a little afraid of what it might to be to my library. Especially if I want to uninstall iTunes after.

It will do nothing to your library. Many on here are actually running both Music and iTunes simultaneously.

Of course always back up before doing anything.

I have iTunes and Music installed but I couldn’t figure out how to get the iTunes library to update to what the current Music library is. I’ve been using Music for months and wouldn’t mind switching to iTunes but I don’t want to lose the Music library info
