Still total ass on 11.4 beta. Only different I've noticed thus far is that the app does not fully quit when hitting the X. Other than that, last view is not retained, nor are EQ settings. Genuinely shocked at the regression that has taken place with this.
This has been broken for so long. I've even experienced this in iTunes. Honestly, just remove the feature at this point since it clearly is not working as intended.

Seems inconsistent - I'm also on 11.4 beta but all my settings are being retained on both iTunes and Music...no problems at all with EQ settings. Older Mac - maybe it's something to do with that?

Delete the Music/iTunes preferences and try again, probably something has been corrupted and it can't save or read the eq preferences correctly.

I created a brand new blank library. Preferences, database, etc. all newly created by Music. Imported my 15,000 tracks from my old backup folder into Music.app as fresh tracks. The results? All these glitches are still there. Let's face it, Music is full of bugs left, right, and centre. It's a really poorly written app.

Music preferences are stored in:
/Users/yourusernname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Music.eq.plist
/Users/yourusernname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Music.plist

I still can't drag and drop to change the order in Playing Next in 11.3 SMH

not sure what SMH is?

FWIW - Drag and Drop Worked for me in 11.3 and still working in 11.4 - see screen shot below from Music version 1.1.5.40

I was looking for swapping the stereo channels with Music. Seems there is no solution to do that.
I have a few CD albums which have been mixed the wrong way...
Of course I can edit a file with Audacity, swap the channels there and save it but it would duplicate the files, not very smart. If there is any other way to swap the stereo channels on a Mac, I would be happy to know :) Thanks

You have two options.

1. Switch to Linux.

2. Get hired by Apple onto the Media development team and be the change you wish to see in the world.

Best of luck!

Been running iTunes on Big Sur for quite some time quite happily.

I had seen a few people on here who run Music and iTunes side by side.

Once you have altered the location information in Music (i.e. instead of using the default Media folder arrangement you continue to use your own, in my case Media HD>iTunes>iTunes Media>Music folder) in Preferences, and then select Add to Library, my question is I assume Music does not do anything nasty to your media folders etc and just creates the library based on existing locations ?

I was interested in running both side by side for a while ( I don't often add files to my 30,000+ track library so no worries about the two being out of sync with each other )

Did a test run of just one artist and half a dozen albums.

Plays safely side by side ( ensuring you dont put an extra level on the location ) but not all artwork ( which is embedded in each track ) is displayed.

So I'm back to solely using iTunes again.

Yeah, I'm back to using iTunes 100% of the time again and I can't tell you what a relief it is to have a responsive, almost bug-free app again.

So jealous. Would love iTunes back—Music seems just plain stupid, and I've never really said that about an Apple app—but doesn't seem like Retroactive is good with Big Sur yet. [Correction: Doesn't seem like Retroactive is good with M1 yet.]

Wow, Apple Music on MacOS has gotten some nasty bugs since 11.3. The "Listen Now" screen goes blank when I go to "Browse" or to "Radio", Play Next does not work, when I go back to a playlist or an album I started but didn't finish it continues at the next unplayed track and won't play the previous tracks even if I start over. Really annoying.

Works fine for me and has for months, but I'm not using an M1 chip, I'm on Intel.

New bug - far worse than the others. Music.app is occasionally skipping to the next track mid-song. Not sure if is wonky bluetooth signal from the AirPods or what. Quitting the app didn't fix it. I have just restarted and will see.
I've had Music do that (very) rarely.

Recently though**, I've experienced a (similar/maybe related) issue:

When playing music from a playlist the animated line indicating how far the song has played (progress bar, see screenshot), does not progress (usually it doesn't start at all, sometimes - but rarely - it stops "mid song"), but the song itself plays along.

Normally it will go on to play the next song in the playlist, also, but when that is done it just stops.

Neither the first nor the second song "finishes", ie. are tagged as played and added to the Recently Played smart list.

Very annoying.

** I think this was introduced with Big Sur 11.3, cannot remember it happening before that. Was not fixed in 11.3.1.

On the new Big Sur 11.4 beta, trying to choose any Airplay network immediately crashes Music. Reported on Feedback, and on the beta thread here. No one else is commenting or reporting having the problem.

UPDATE: The new Big Sur beta fixed it.
