Wish there was a return policy system for apps like in the Play Store...

There is.

Log into your account in iTunes. go into account / purchase history. Find the app and click "report a problem" and fill in why you want to return the application.

It will be vetted and assuming your complaint/request is legit they will refund you.

You can also do it from a link in your e-receipt/invoice (click report a problem)

It works for all store purchases (movies/music/books/apps).

i've returned a number of items in the past and never had any trouble getting a refund.

And unlike google play - you can do it after 15 minutes timeframe that Google Play gives you up to.

Wow. Awesome info. I will look into this. Thanks. Playing PvZ on a small phone (3.5" due to the black bars) is not fun. I rather just pick up my iPad. :(

Yeah just report it say that you thought it would be compatible with iPhone 5 (optimised) but as it is not you'd like to return it and you'd rather the HD version on your ipad instead. Be courteous and concise, I'm sure they'll refund you.

Heres a how to guide with images :)

Speaking of Tetris when playing a game like this it really highlights just how obnoxious iOS' notification system really is. The banner rolling down from the top of the screen is such a distraction when playing games that require your reaction time.

I said it in my op and I'll say it again, I don't know how anybody at apple thought it'd be a great idea to block what's happening on the screen (game or not). How is blocking something part of Apple's software philosophy? This is all they could come up with after over a year?

Don't people always say apple holds off on features in order to do them right? What in the world happened here then.

You can just disable the pop up/banner, it will stay show in notification center (you will get the sound/vibration) and will still see msg in lockscreen; if you havent i suggest giving a "lockinfo" a try :) it gives you several options, among are the ability to see damm emails without open the full mail app and better notification handle in the lockscreen plus icons in the statusbar that tells when you get an alert.

I tried some jailbreak apps that made the banner notifications roll down into the status bar; in other words, a thinner banner. But for whatever reason, they didn't work. I forgot which two I tried.

I'll check out lockinfo.

Either way, I wish Apple made the status bar a little more dynamic, and allowed notification icons like Android. It's just such a more natural way of alerting you and letting you know what the alert is without being obtrusive.

I don't think we need the big "Tmobile" sign in the left of the status bar nor do we need the "iPad" sign in that same area for iPads. Just a waste of space on a device that already has so little room to spare.

Me either. One was a relatively expensive app too (navigation).

What you or anyone decides on is your/their preference. We've already established this. This wasn't a point of contention of mine.

I'm simply saying we should be able to talk objectively about the two OSes too.

I don't think objectivity is your strong suit.

But I'm more sorry that no one is able to admit it. It's a sad state of affairs.

onthecouchagain,

You are wrong on most cases.

Some examples off the top of my head:

-remember my password. I can't believe the world's most advanced operating system requires me to put my password in every... single... time I download something. Security feature, you say? Great. Where can I turn this on/off? (and it was only recently with iOS 6 that the App Store stopped booting you out per every download; a ridiculous annoyance).

As I have mentioned before. This was the result of a lawsuit against Apple.

It has nothing to do with how advance an OS is.

-close individual notifications in my notification center.

And Android doesn't group notification by apps. All I can do is clear the individually or all at once. If I have 50 notifications, it becomes a pain not just to read, but to clear them as a group.

Often times, I just want to clear a group after reading all the notifications.

-queue music tracks or albums.

Sure you can. Create a playlist on the fly and add what music tracks or album you want.

Been available for years.

-set MP3s as ringtones/alarms

Of course you can set MP3s as alarm. Been available for years.

-long press for secondary symbols.

Long press on a key gives you a number of options. Is this your first time using iOS?

share to anything else besides FB/Twitter

You can share to more than just FB/Twitter.

-scroll down webpages without continuously flicking and flicking and flicking and flicking.

I can tap on the top of safari and it jumps right to the top.
On Android, I'm required to flick and flick and flick to the top.

Hahaha.

If this is what makes it for you, then your mind must be blown by what Android can do.

It's amazing what you'll accept when it comes to iOS and what you won't tolerate when it comes to android.

I don't get it - you completely disregard anyone who points out alternatives (these aren't anywhere near intolerable) to your list of things iOS supposedly can't do - and you think you're being objective???

Dude....

I created a similar list and you scoffed and ignored it.....do you have anything constructive to say? Any counters to the lists we've provided? No....because like it or not we've provided ways to do things that are supposedly impossible on iOS. Even show a couple of places where Android is annoying and you completely dismiss and overlook them......

Keep telling me I don't understand the meaning of the word objectivity - I certainly don't understand your definition....

This annoys the heck out of me on iOS. Forcing me to close all notifications from a given app is so backwards, just feels like careless design. It happened to me just yesterday when I wanted to keep just one of several notifications from one app as a reminder. A bunch of opponent turns from a turn based game were covering my screen so I had to remove them, but iOS didn't let me keep just that one there. In an instance like that, I just feel like my hands are being tied together.

And the inverse on Android really is much less of a problem because there you can just swipe them off to the side. Rather than press a very small X and then confirm with a second press... If the example above had happened on Android, I could have swept all ten undesirable notifications off in two seconds and kept the one I wanted.

You can make a bookmark for jumping to the bottom of the page. I use it all the time. Instructions here:
http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/12547/scroll-down-in-safari-on-iphone-ipad

And how does this work in Android? From the comments so far, it sounds like you can jump to the bottom of a page, but to go back to the top, you have to scroll your way back?

You can also use different browsers/apps on both platforms. I'm not sure why people focus so much on Safari vs Chrome -- I use other options to get around the limitations of each.

In iOS, something like Tapatalk gives the extended glide per flick that's in Android Chrome - Atomic browser offers gestures for things like page up/down, and scroll to top or bottom.

In Android, Dolphin browser lets you navigate through a long webpage as easily as you as easily as Safari in iOS.

Which requires jailbreaking so any Apple/Genuis support and timely updates are out the window. Isn't that a big part of what makes the iPhone so great?

Not to mention you risk losing warranty; Apple's customer service is also a hugely touted benefit of the iPhone (and rightfully so. They're great).
