THIS REALLY PISSES ME OFF

Sheesh you expect everything to be perfect? I have a dead pixel on my iPod therefore I should go to the apple store and throw a HUGEEEEEE fit? No, I put up with it even though it's near the middle of the screen.

hey hey now

im just as good as the next apple user, but this is outta control. Im mad, that i havent even had the chance to move programs and stuff onto this macbook, because i cant even use them long enough to put stuff on them. Every single one has a problem, over and over, and its officially pissed me off, period. Apple has no excuse in my book

So, you cannot get a single good one, but of the 11 ones we have purchased, zero issues. That is really odd. I do not believe you.

EVERY SINGLE APPLE PRODUCT I HAVE OWNED HAS BEEN REPLACED OR REPAIRED.

I think that is a statement saying just how great Apple is. Every single product you have has been replaced or repaired. I have a couple dead pixels on my PSP, do you think Sony cares? Does Sony even have a convenient place I can take it to complain to them? I understand that you're frustrated at the number of issues you're having and if I have to go through 5 Macbooks when mine comes I'll be upset too but at least your problems are getting fixed. I mean I'm assuming by clicking screen you mean that the opening and closing of the computer wasn't silent. Do you really think many companies out there would replace that?

I can't believe all this over a single dead pixel. I was under the impression that dead pixels were rather commen on super high resolution displays.

As for programs running unreliably... I can't believe some people have such tremendous problems while others experience none. What are you doing to this thing?

I didn't think Apple replaced for 1 pixel? I probably wouldn't care if it was 5 then maybe but I'd be happy for a working machine :)

This is so interesting. I have owned four Mac laptops, along with a host of peripherals, over the past nine years. Only twice have I had to take any of them in for service.

One got a full bowl of boiling water spilled on it, and it STILL WORKED the next day, minus a few keys which had melted. I had to get a new keyboard which I installed myself.

My current Powerbook died a miserable death after a year and a half of solid pounding when I overtaxed it a bit too much. Some RAM chip fried, sending the entire system into a panic which crashed everything in sight...including every computer networked to it in the apple store!

Apple was extremely quick and helpful in both instances. I have dealt with many other companies who, like someone said earlier, won't even acknowledge that they took your money!

I have always wondered the same thing...why do some poeple have to consistently replace hardware, while others never have a single problem?

Mate I feel for ya... I've been through 4 Macbooks myself, currently being loaned a display model from the store while Apple make me a new one (next model up though)...

This is freaking ridiculous... if my new replacement machine doesn't work I will request a MBP or demand my money back... Yeah their OS is great, etc. etc. but if their ****ing computers don't work then there's no point to the rest of it is there...

Erm, perhaps you should stop using Macs and try using PCs instead? I've never had a dead pixel, ever, and yeah, despite any funky terms of sale or anything I will not accept a dead pixel.

All that "Oh, we can't make a screen without dead pixels" excuse is simply just bull. Tons of things today are made to tighter tolerances than LCD displays and I don't see them using that as an excuse.

its there, its annoying, and now i am seriously peeved at apple right now...im totally dissapointed in the company, and the quality of their products.

heres my list

bought a powerbook-
replaced TWICE

Then they replaced it with a macbook pro
THIS Macbook Pro has had 2 major repairs- Main Logic Board, top case, keyboard, trackpad, DC-in board, Battery, Superdrive

intel iMac-
have had superdrive and power supply replaced- now there is a faint chirping noise coming from the back...PLUS it has a dead pixel
so that needs repair

4th Gen Ipod-
Replaced once

ipod nano-
replaced once

5th gen ipod
replaced once

EVERY SINGLE APPLE PRODUCT I HAVE OWNED HAS BEEN REPLACED OR REPAIRED.

Some things just are not meant to be...I'd go back to PCs...Apple just does not seem to be working out for you...some kind of kink in the universe...wow.

He got a free PB -> MBP upgrade!

I wouldn't complain if I were him.

Erm, perhaps you should read the official dead pixel policy of many major computer manufacturers. This person should consider himself lucky Apple keeps replacing laptops over dead pixels:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=22194

Because the nature of your posts seem to always be "I'm disappointed because I didn't get everything in the world for no cost" I'm officially adding you to my ignore list.

No joke!

Screw me once, shame on you.
Screw me twice, shame on me.

I'm not sure what the saying is after you've been screwed 9x by the same company.

Did you try ITASOR's pixel fixer?

If you run it for like hours over the pixel i guess it's possible it'll fix it.

also, take an eraser to it. that helps too. just massage it.

i feel for you - i really do.

i've got a macbook and absolutely no problems at all - none. I've got an iMac G5 - no problems either; they just work. Oh, and same with my iPod.

It's just bad luck - this isn't Apple - really, once you get it working you'll understand. :)

I take care of my stuff, very well, better than most, and this is complete and utterly DISGUSTING how apple quality has been to me. For the thousands and thousands that i spent on apple equipment, i am very dissapointed

I agree with the others who suggest that you consider giving up on Apple products. The odds on you getting this many products that most other people would consider defective are too low for me to believe. Therefore I conclude that your standards are too high for Apple. Each time you return/exchange, you increase costs for Apple, which may lead to higher prices for those of us with low standards.

Wow. Something doesn't smell right here. I know tons of Apple users and while some of them have had minor complaints (the Powerbook I'm typing on right now has one dead pixel... somewhere.. darned if I can find it unless I'm specifically looking for it), I have never seen anyone have so much trouble. You sure you're not just being really, well, anal?

Maybe you should consider buying a Dell. I hear they're often perfect on the first time round  I might suggest a 20" widescreen LCD monitor to start?

Well, logic would say that going from Apple's 16% notebook repair rate to Dell's 20% notebook repair rate would be a bad move, but since he's defying all things logical, why not?

I know he's not the only one. iGary has a track record like his too, I believe.

Wow, it must suck to be you! Have you done anything lately that might have , say, annoyed God?

I agree with the others in that perhaps it may be you? Or you're just extremely unlucky.

I've had my 4th gen iPod replaced 10 times! Count them. But I'm thrilled that Apple has taken the time to replace my iPod 10 times. Each time I go in I hope that they have run out of refurbished 4th gen iPods to give to me and will give me a 5th gen iPod.. no luck. I'm not complaining about how Apple has given me "defective" products, or how they replace my iPod with a refurb one. Well mostly because 6/10 times the iPod has broken because of me (dropped into water, unfortunate fall onto the pavement, etc.) Ironically, the brand new iPod lasted the shortest amount of time compared to the refurb ones (it's HD died).

I can't belive how many people are ragging on the OP here, and how many people are defending Apple for shoddy service and products. It's because of people like you that Apple has been creating such shoddy products (and has such terrible service) recently -- because they know that there are tons of people who've been essentially brainwashed by Apple into letting things slide, or worse, defending them for their shortcomings.

Wow. You REALLY believe that?
.

Well, I suspose that some people just have problems with their Macs. So far, here is my history with the Apple computers that I bought new:

1992 -- Powerbook 100 - No problems
1993 -- IIsi - No problems
1998 -- Work Group Server 6150 - No problems
1999 -- iMac (Rev. C; 266mhz G3) - No problems
2000 -- G4 Cube (450mhz G4) - Died in a puff of smoke; Apple fixed it.
2001 -- iBook (Rev B; 500mhz G3) - No problems
2003 -- eMac (Rev A; 700mhz G4) - No problems
2004 -- PowerMac G4 MDD (Single 1.25ghz G4) - Bad DIMM socket; Apple fixed it.

Overall, I am happy with my track record with Apple.

I can attest to the pixel un-stickers. I have a number of pixels that seem to get stuck every once in a while, but using a program called udpixel under xp has cleaned them up. The first pixel took about a day or so to go away. The next one took a few hours. The third one wouldnt go away even after a week. Really pissed me off, then I rubbed on the screen and the piece of fuzz stuck there came off and I felt a bit annoyed at, well, being annoyed :)
