Whilst the Samsung Amoled screens do have very over saturated image at default setting, simply go into display setting and set screen mode to 'basic' turning off the saturation boosting. You will find colour reproduction almost identical between the iPhone and the device (Note 4/Galaxy Alpha). I loaded an image on both my iPhone and Alpha with basic mode and colours were near indistinguishable.

oversaturation can be fix/changed by going to the screen mode settings that has been on all note devices since day 1. if you want the note4 to look like an iphone6 with it's grayish type blacks then the note can do that if you want. but to me black is black and not grey. with iphone your stuck with what you got not cool:cool:

I own a 6+ and can attest that the Note 4 has a nicer screen.
Also; my previous three iPhones have suffered from yellow blotches appearing on the left of the screen near the volume buttons around the 18 month mark, and I would take the possible AMOLED screen burn over what to me is the guaranteed LCD yellowing every time.
Despite these flaws or pros/cons, I still went with Apple and not Samsung. It was a close run thing this year though due to #ramgate ;-)

I must say this is freakin hilarious, and deeply sad at the same time that 7 freakin pages have been devoted to just arguing about which display is better.

There's no argument so far as I'm concerned. The Note 4 has an awesome display, and this is coming from a 6+ owner.
It's definitely one big positive for the Android device, along with the three gigs of RAM and the removable battery. Nobody can dispute that these are three 'wins' over the iPhone.

What guaranteed LCD yellowing? 3 iphone 4 from day one, no yellowing. Seriously you must be a magnet for Apple hardware on the edge. I would rather have yellowing however, burn in drives me wonkers.

iPhones are inanimate objects, even with Siri.

They don't get jealous.

I've yet to see this LCD yellowing on any Apple device, even after a few years of use.

I except that the screen is better on the note 4, that's indisputable. However I think that the amazing battery life on the 6 plus makes having a removable battery a mute point. I'd also argue that more RAM isn't really an issue on iOS.

When I upgraded to the Iphone 5 (when it was released), it was a close call as well between that and the Galaxy S4 (or S5, whichever one was out at the time) but this time I went with the Note 4.

I've yet to see this LCD yellowing on any Apple device, even after a few years of use.

It's a yellow mark that develops near the volume buttons, not an all-over yellow screen which is visible from day one.
Now I typically use my iPhones *heavily*, with a 'screen on' time of over 10 hours every single day. I get around 15-18 months out of an iPhone before this yellow blotch appears, and if I used my phone less then of course it would rack up a number of years before the yellow doom appeared. That doesn't excuse it though, and for two reasons. Firstly, I can use a laptop for many hours per day, for two or three years, and some other piece of hardware fails or I upgrade. Never does the yellow blotch appear on the LCD screen. Secondly, why does this yellow mark *always* appear near the volume buttons on my Apple screens? There must be some reason for this, such as heat damaging the screen or some other hardware issue causing the problem.

Guaranteed for me. It has happened now to too many of my iPhones for it to be a one-off. I expect it to happen now and would actually be extremely surprised if it didn't.

If you use the iphone that heavily more power to you. I'm a heavy user but I don't come close to your usage. #

I certainly put them through their paces. ☺️
It just bugs me how this yellow blotch appears in the exact-same place every time. If it were a problem with the longevity of LCD screens then surely this blotch would appear in random places or across the entire screen? I'm thinking that it's a knock-on effect from something else, possibly heat. Still, you need to use your device to death in order to have it happen. My 15-18 months of hard use would equate to several years for most people.

So what? It doesn't indicate the number relative to the number of phones. I could be 1, 5 or 10 relative to the 10s of millions. Certainly hardware that faulty would merit a little more than 5 internet posts.

If you search the web enough you can find at least one of everything.

Perhaps you should read some of the links and educate yourself.

Ive read through them and others. My point still stands on percentages. :) but thank you for educating me; and missing the point at the same time. I used the phrase; "Apple doesn't release which means they design to white point with the current crop of phones", not "Apple never released", which was not manufactured to spec. I never claimed there were zero defects but out of the tens and tens of millions of displays, how many were affected and how many from abuse and old age? What was the percentage? .000001% 50% 1%.

It doesn't seem that way. In the iPhone section there are quite a number of complaints about yellowish and uneven screen or dead pixels. What I think is these problems are not defects but inherent negatives with lcd. So to Apple a yellowish or uneven lit screen is not a defect.

Seriously, that's the level of intellectual thought we have descended to.

How do you know what Apple call a defect?

People have been able to exchange device for dead pixel or other, surely that therefore is proof alone that these are isolated cases and henceforth recognised as being defective, hence their replacement.

Seriously the arguments in here are starting to become of the preposterous variety. Any tenable argument for either has long since been forgotten at this stage and the result is a few mouthy posters on both sides having a glorified peeing competition. It's all quite pathetic altogether.

That is just business. Apple gives you a replacement using one of its many returned/swapped phones and hope you stop making more noise. There are many who just accept minor defects and not ocd about it.

So now you do acknowledge this is a defect ? Only post before it was an inherent flaw. Likewise anyone I know who has had a problem with a device here Apple have exchanged for a brand new replacement (complete exchange) and not as you tried to spin it as one of its 'many returned devices'. That's just silliness trying to spin something to be negative whilst simultaneously back peddling.

Seriously ? I think some people need to take a break.....

It is defects to some eyes but not to apple. I read that many replacements also have similar screen problems like yellowing and uneven light. This just shows that apple does not think those are critical defects.

Sorry but that's just more flimflam.

Intelligent suggestion, folks stop trying to manufacturer fault or use poor reasoning to feel superior and just enjoy your own device and try to be happy for other people using theirs.

This goes for others here doing similar but vice versa re device. You will be better people for doing so.

We have two devices universally acknowledged as the best in their class and yet the thread has descended to such sad depths in order for users to appear superior. Is this really how you want people to perceive you ?
