Are you sure...because didn't you say the following when faced with a scientific analysis of displays ending with the iPhone 5 being superior to the S3:

Nov 21, 2012, 07:14 PM

Guess the science is only worthwhile if it feeds into your agenda
There is no contradiction. I still maintain my stance that a higher percentage of people would prefer the high contrast vivid amoled screen to the ips screen no matter what scientific measurements give.

At that time those iphone fans vehemently insisted that iphone ips is the best because of displaymate benchmarks. Now that displaymate has now rated note4 better, those iphone fans (are you one of them?) suddenly flip flop and now want to use arbitrary "feeling" to determine screen quality.

For sure I am not the one who is doing a about turn. So did you do an about turn?

No. The S3 screen was complete garbage, and the iPhone screen was appreciably better. A lucid mind would be hard pressed to pick up a S3 today and suggest there is much worthwhile to it.

The Note 4 screen is very good on the other hand, though there are aspects I prefer about the 6+ display.

I owned an S3 back in 2012 and felt the iPhone 5 had a better screen when I switched. The Amoled back then was over saturated and the colours were blown up which gave me a headache. At least the Note 4 allows this saturation to be turned off so that is a winner. It's very interesting to see how opinions change depending on whether benchmarks or opinion back it up. Nicely demonstrated btw :)

That's because you were used to lcd screen of iphone. For me when I look at the lcd screen, it has a misty overlay (worse if you are looking at it at an angle) and image looks washout. Additionally the glare from the back lit makes it less comfortable to view. That's why I can't go back to lcd.

You can set the screen mode on s3. You didn't try that?

Lets stuff a QHD screen into an iPhone and then complain how bad the battery life is. Apple just can't win. The iPhone 6/6+ screens are very, very nice. Can they do better? There is always room to improve, but as the 'overall package', the iPhone wins.

As an overall package the ip6+ isnt even in the same league as the Note 4. The Note 4 is a true phablet, the ip6+ is an oversized phone. The feature set of the Note 4 is amazing! Oh and yes the Note 4 screen is also in another league.

Indeed.

Its a very hard pill to swallow for most unfortunately, that's why we have so many Note 4 vs. 6 Plus threads, you have the 6 Plus fans trying super hard to downplay any major advantage the Note 4 has just to try satisfy the point they are miserably failing to make, at 1st it made for an entertaining read as they clutched at straws, but now its just boring.

Phablet...its a dubious term to an extent. In practice it's just a big phone that encroaches on tablet territory.

The Note 4 takes it up a notch sure but there are tons of phablets out there and no one gets on them for just being an "oversized phone".

The Nokia Lumia 1520 is not a phablet? LG Flex, not a phablet? Galaxy Mega, not a phablet? Of course they are, as is the iPhone 6+.

No they are all oversized phones imo, even the Nexus 6. The Note is the only one to actually take advantage of the larger screen size and incorporate multitasking features. Until you have used a note for a week you probably wouldn't understand just how productive they can be. Just remember the Note started the Phablet phase, no other manufacturer has come close to matching its capabilities yet.

Meh, The Note is the Phablet that started the phablets popularity at least, technically you may be right but imo they are all just oversized phones that don't take any advantage of the extra screen real estate except for media consumption. For this reason the Note 4 is in a whole different league to the ip6+. Everything you can do on a 6+ can be done on a 6.

I'm not disagreeing. There are phablets, and then there is the Note series which probably best exemplifies what a phablet is and should aspire to be rather than just a larger version of a related product.

Though the iPhone 6+ is still a phablet.

The only differentating factor of the note is the pen, everything else is software, which has been said here to be miserable to excellent for both devices and will be updated in future releases.

As far as the screen everybody has their own opinion and won't convince someone who doesn't hold their opinion.

No comparison especially factoring in the Note's Smart Dock. Galaxy Note is more like a super phone whereas the iPhone 6+ is like an iPod Mega. Even the 2012 Note II is better.

That's not dripping of fanboyism at all. /s

Phablet is a phone/tablet. If we go by your definition that something without multitasking features, and I assume you mean the TouchWiz type things, to be tablet features...

You just also called a bunch of tablets oversized phones. :|

I'm coming from the note 2, every two years I switch os. So this go around its apples's turn. But today I saw my friends note 4 screen playing COD advanced warfare ad video on YouTube and instantly did a side by side comparison . The note 4 screen while playing videos, kills iphone 6 by 10,000 miles. iPhone 6 was washed out and looked pathetic compared to the plasma looking note 4. I'm so jeolous of that screen it's not even funny. Anybody else seen the note 4 compared to their iPhone 6?

This is 100% made up story. Dude is very bored. And my lord, how sad his life is.

If English isn't your primary language let me quote it for you.

Absolute Color Accuracy

Note 4
Excellent Color Accuracy

iPhone 6+ and 6
Very Good

Excellent > Very Good. You can't achieve excellence if it's saturated but there are options to make it more or less saturated.

He retired from journalism. There is no link between Anandtech and Apple.

Honestly at this point, if anybody thinks Anandtech is biased, they need to step away from the industry of phones and pick another hobby.

I disagree...... There was enough of a relationship between Anandtech and Apple that he left the tech site he built and founded to work for Apple. The people he hired and left in charge watches their boss and mentor leave to go to work for Apple..... Anyone can see there is going to be a good relationship from that point forward. Also he did not just walk away cold turkey. Of course he is being consulted on business decisions on some kind of level. No one leaves a business they created and walks away never to have a conversation with the people they hired and left to run their business they founded. People they no doubt have a business and personal relationship with.
