I thought I didn't hear crackling with Airpods Pro... I was wrong. It's just less noticeable, but it's there

it's bit ridiculous not being able to play sounds properly on the £1899 machine... I can workaround this while I do my regular work by playing music from other devices (just slightly annoying as need to reconnect my airpods each time I need to hop on the call), however Im also into field recordings, and the crackling issue takes away all the joy of editing them...
I've read somewhere in this thread that there was a similar issue with one of the older models, did it get fix eventually? My gut feeling is that Apple will just release updated models and ignore the 2021 like it never hapend. And most of us will probably upgrade at some point... Hope I'm wrong here and will get positively surprised.
The resolution seems to be 'upgrade to the 12.5' beta, or wait for 12.5 to be released.
@Badsheep I wish that's true but with posts like https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/new-16-speakers-popping.2321514/post-31221674I'm not that sure, unfortunately.
Ok after a week or so, it is much much better but the crackle and pop sound is not completely gone. I'll get the occasional pop sound, but now it's very rare. Definitely a huge upgrade to what it was like before
Are you referring to this post?:
It's still an improvement though. And a sign that Apple actively does something against this issue, so it's not as hopeless as it seemed half a year ago.
For me, the 12.5 public beta solved the issue as of this day, but sure, this might change and I'm observing that. I still wonder how the release candidate for 12.5 performs, but I guess we'll find out in a week.
I literally can't listen to anything at the moment without crackling every few seconds. The longest I seem to to be able to go is 1 minute. It's insanely bad right now :'(
I can report & confirm that two things worked for me now:
1. Killing the CoreAudio Process with Terminal: sudo kill -9 `ps ax|grep 'coreaudio[a-z]' | awk '{print $1}'`
2. Deleting these files in Computer/Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/Audio: com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist & com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist, empty trash can & restart the computer
This is not a new revelation, but it once again confirms that this is a software issue. I expect the problems to come back, but at least there's that. I think I will write a program in Automator, so that I can quickly get rid of these once they come back.
edit: It lasted for about 4 hours, then I heard the first pop again.
that was happening to me yesterday and on the day before, today my MBP is back to popping on "normal" frequency. Didn't do nothing to change it, no restart etc.I literally can't listen to anything at the moment without crackling every few seconds. The longest I seem to to be able to go is 1 minute. It does work sometimes but it's ridiculous, I could as well close my laptop at this point because my regular work flow requires apps which builds up to over 14GB of RAM...It's a memory problem. When memory is under pressure, you'll get speaker crackling. Close most your apps and it will go away.
Does the 12.5 beta fix it? Do you have to also do step 2 after upgrading to the beta? There's two things you can do right now:
1. Update your system to the 12.5 public beta: https://www.macworld.com/article/35...-public-beta-install-access-utility-macs.html (long lasting solution)
2. Do these steps (works only temporarily):

Yep. When my older non M1 Mac can still play music without popping while working with a heavy work flow past 14GB of RAM, something is wrong. It does work sometimes but it's ridiculous, I could as well close my laptop at this point because my regular work flow requires apps which builds up to over 14GB of RAM...

But have they fixed it if we still have to use Boom? Have you tried it without Boom?Been two weeks on the macOS Ventura beta. Ventura combined with Boom has been lovely. Haven't had pops once. Can't believe it took them this long to finally fix this issue.
I have, and they did. I still use Boom since I bought the software already, and it's nice to have an equalizer since this damn OS doesn't have one by default when Windows and Linux does. (That still baffles me that the audio professional platform doesn't have a sound equalizer built in.)But have they fixed it if we still have to use Boom? Have you tried it without Boom?
