Lastly, ifoAppleStore has a new location it has posted that I can't yet confirm from either Apple's or the mall's website, but given their record it bears watching.

Another Pennsylvania Store Located
They may be “closing all the factories down,” but they’re opening up an Apple store next to Allentown (Penn.) at the Lehigh Valley Mall. The region of almost 800,000 residents will host the fifth Apple store in the state, and expand Apple’s products beyond just the Pittsburgh and Philadelphia regions. The mall just underwent a $40 million expansion and renovation that added a lifestyle center and a total of 1 million square-feet with over 130 shops. The store should open by the holiday shopping season.
That's number 7 on my list in post #392

Chinook Centre

I've posted this on ehMac as well.

I've been looking forward to Apple's new store in Calgary's Chinook Center for a while now in anticipation of a spring opening, but I was shocked to see that all job positions for the location have been pulled from Apple's web site. There is nothing on monster.com as well. Does anyone know if there is trouble with this store opening? I thought the location in the mall had been identified, and if that is true and anyone can take a look to see what's happening and post it I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Heh, I got to meet a bunch of guys from that site (ehMac.ca for the uninformed) at the Eastview Mall (Victor/Pittsford, NY) (Rochester Area) store opening in the summer of 2005.

Change that to a we without me, you wouldn't have been at that opening ;).

Munich store to open in 2008?

ifoAppleStore is quoting a German website who has broken the news of an upcoming Apple store in Munich opening sometime in 2008.

Munich Store Revealed
The wiwo.de Web site has posted a story claiming that Apple has signed a real estate deal to open a store in Munich (Germany) during 2008. The story includes an architect’s rendering of a four-story building with a back-lit Apple logo at the location of a former five-story sporting goods store, Rosenstrasse 1 in Marienplatz, home of city hall. It’s long been know that other cities will also host Apple stores, including Frankfurt and Berlin. [Webcam]

Is anyone else going? My mom and I are driving up the night before, and I'll be in line ~7 am hopefully. Would be fun to have a mini-meetup :)

What are the usual giveaways? Searching on that phrase in this thread didn't give me any meaningful results.

iPhil is right. If you look at the link in the post you quote from, it is all spelled out on the right hand side of Apple's announcement.

katie, how did I know you wouldn't miss a Texas opening? :p

post some pics if you can, and have fun.

Anybody know the estimate months before the Louisville store will open? What is the average time from start of recruitment to the grand opening of previous stores?

With stores in malls the average time is six to nine months. That assumes no construction delays. Recruitment of staff has occurred in the past followed by cancellation of a given stores plans, but usually this is a reliable indication that a store will open within the above time frame. Which means a summer opening is likely.

Stores outside the US

When Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer spoke at the recent Morgan Stanley Technology Conference one of the few tidbits of information he let drop is that Apple plans to open "a little over 10" (eleven or twelve?) stores outside the US. Not only would that be a record in one year, but it leaves a lot of room open for speculation of where these stores are going to be located. Apple has recruited staff for stores in Glasgow, Rome, Calgary, Sydney, and Milton Keynes (UK) so far this year, but the Calgary store is no longer among Apple's listings and appears to be delayed - if not cancelled. That leaves four stores accounted for and seven to eight unknown. A possibility is the opening of the previously acknowledged Zurich location and/or the opening of Calgary late in the year. But even with these added in we have five or six locations for which we are without a clue. Does this mean we will finally see a Paris opening this year? Will there be any new Japanese stores? Vancouver? Or how about Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, or something completely off the radar? Regardless, it looks like Apple is finally getting serious about its international retail effort.

Cool, they're finally opening one in Madison. I might be transferring to UW next year, so that'd be awesome.

Still want one in Appleton, though.

Austin store? Great, my daughter is moving to Killeen, which I believe isn't too far away from there. Now another reason to visit her. lol :D

Three new locations

Apple is now recruiting staff for three new stores. The first is in the Mall of Georgia, in the Atlanta suburb of Buford. This would be the fourth store in the Atlanta metro area. The second is in the Natick Collection Mall in the Boston suburb of Natick. This will bring, along with the upcoming Boylston Store, the total Boston metro area stores to nine. The last is in the Chicago area suburb of Deer Park (exact location unknown.) This is the second Chicago area store projected to open this year (Orland Square is the other location.)

Way to go Madison!!!!

No word on a Charleston store yet? :(

Sorry, savanahrose, no word on Charleston. There is this rumor from ifoAppleStore about a new store in South Carolina, but I can't verify it as of yet.
Haywood Mall - Greenville, SC - A super-regional mall of 1.2 million square feet operated by Simon Property Group along I-385. The mall has 150 shops and draws from a six-county region. In late Feb. 2007 tipsters said Apple is in lease negotiations with the mall for an unknown space. It would be the first Apple store in the state.

Sorry, if I've already mentioned this rumor, but I can't remember if I posted it and I'm too lazy to check at the moment.

Greenville before Charleston? You've got to be kidding me.

Haywood Mall, while pretty large, has never been what I would consider an upscale mall.

Ugh. If Greenville gets a store before Charleston, I'll be annoyed. Greenville already has a CompUSA and an Apple reseller. Nowhere else in SC has anyplace to purchase Apple products.

Of course, this could mean that there's already an established user base in Greenville. But no. That's just crazy talk.

Rome store to open March 31st

Apple has officially announced the opening of its first continental European store on March 31, 2007 at 9:00 am in the Roma Est shopping center in Rome, Italy.

I still don't see Vancouver in the horizon. I don't understand. Vancouver has the most 'graphics' company in Canada (and most demand for macs). GVRD Secondary School's have what's called the 'iPod revolution.' One of every three has an iPod.

If apple doesn't find a place in Vancouver any time soon, good luck in finding one in the future... it's hard to find retail space in downtown alone...

Which is why I think you haven't seen a store open there yet. Apple is very particular about the location of its stores and as soon as it can get a quality one in Vancouver it will open one.

I just hope that will happen soon... I really want one in Vancouver before 2010. If they can find a spot on Robson St. (Shopping Street), that would be perfect =D
