got my 27" i7 refurb 2 days ago, it's absolutely perfect! no yellow screen, no HD noises, and fast as lightning! i have no complaints at all. this screen is stunning, it's almost too much to take in, so crystal clear, bright and sharp. i love it.

Are you sure?

If you dim the screen and listen above the imac. Do you hear a buzzing/short-circuit sound?? It can also happen if the cpu is above 50C.

This is bad.

I had 4 mid 2010 27" iMacs and none of them had that sound, that I could detect anyway. The display was another issue.

i just tried that for the 2nd time, still nada, i hear nothing.

Great to hear.
I have this problem and it is only occuring if the system is under load. Like playing HD youtube movies. The cpu is then always above 50C/122F
If you could check this, you have you it then?

Temps. over 50C are totally fine. These chips can withstand over 200F! I'm surprised that it is as cool as it is when under heavy load for an hour straight. The CPU's fan does go up over 2,100rpm and keeps the temp down to under 60C/150F. It's really no problem.

And the Harddisk?

Helloooo.
I've been stalking this forum since I made an Apple order on Wednesday night and really couldn't resist registering to share my excitement!
I ordered the 27" iMac i7 2.93 with 4GB RAM + 2TB HDD. I really wish I could have afforded the 256GB SSD but my budget just couldn't stretch the extra £600 (!). I figured if I got the i7 2.93 processor and the 2TB HDD - then at least I know I can upgrade the RAM myself in the future, and if I have enough nerve, perform a D-I-Y job installing an SSD at some point... Although the idea does scare me, but I know it is an option!
According to the tracking service it's scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday. I CANNOT CONTAIN MYSELF! I'm becoming obsessed with logging on and checking to see if the tracking info has changed, and of course it hasn't...!
I'm switching from a pretty good PC - an AMD Phenom X2 3.20 Dual-Core with 4GB Ram and the ATI Radeon HD 4890 1GB graphics card, viewed on a 22" monitor. I'm a musician and have always worked in Cakewalk Sonar, but I really wanted to delve into the world of Logic Studio 9. I suspect it will be amazing. I'm also really intrigued about the gaming experience I'll have. I'm a fairly casual gamer but my PC graphics card has stood up very well against some pretty intense games such as Crysis Warhead at 1080p, so it'll be interesting to see how the iMac compares with the monstrous 1440p resolution & the ATI Radeon HD 5750 (which I'm assuming is a mobility card?)...
Maybe you're completely uninterested in my post but my friends have no interest in any of this - I MUST RELEASE THESE THOUGHTS THEY ARE GIVING ME HEADACHE!!!
Thank you.

Actually, none of my iMacs were around long enough to really hammer them. The displays well..... sucked and they all went back. I currently do not have an iMac for testing. I could have had this issue, but never got that far.

Were is your iMac build? Mine is build in Ireland, No problems with yellow screen. only a dead pixel and a little bit of dust in the right under corner and the buzz...

mine is great except the ram cover screw stripped and i had to rip it off and now i have no ram cover... to fix the damn thing would require replacing the mobo. good thing you can't tell from the top but i'm not sure if not having a ram cover is dangerous?

Paranoid much? I have a 2007 MBP that has never seen tempts below 55c.

I had the same buzzing noise, funny thing was, yesterday I was playing SC2, I put it in windowed mode and dimmed the bright, guess what, no buzzing, after I close the game, guess what, buzzing, open sc2 and... you got it is it?.. So I dunno actually why it happens, some people says its a faulty power supply. I will wait a little longer then check with the service. The problem I have is that this computer I use for work, and I can't leave it 1 month in service, as the law in this country where I live in says I have to.

I am about to order the i7 2.93GHz iMac.

Are there any major issues with it like the yellow screens experienced in the previous model iMacs?

Received my iMac yesterday. No problems so far! :)

Code:
Intel Core i7 2,93GHz
8GB 1333MHz DDR3
256GB SDD + 2TB HDD
ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB

It seems to vary from one to the other. But I picked mine up Sunday and it's nice and white. No issues.

I ordered mine Sunday and it still has not yet shipped... I got the regular shipping and it says 1-3 days to at least ship. The iPod touch that I got said 24 hours, and its been 3 days and it also has not been shipped...Should i be worried...?

Nah, with labor day stuck in there its actually the first business day.

Question for all of those iMac owners who have had to send in for a replacement...

How does that work? Does Apple supply you with the label and you print it out and stick it on the box? Do you have to pay for shipping? Can you call UPS/Fedex to pick it up, or do you actually have to drop it off at a UPS/Fedex location?

Thanks so much for the help!

Just bought one yesterday!

I just brought home one from Apple retail store. Man this machine is heavy, yet I have to walk some fractions of a mile to my car like I have a 5 year old obese boy in my arms. It seems have no screen issue. Congrats to me :apple:
