Available at Apple Stores????

I was going through the pages because I am finally ready to order my i7 imac. Some of you have said you have been able to purchase this setup at an apple store? Where are you guys located? Every apple store in south florida has told me they only carry the standard spec imacs, and not the BTO ones = only i5, no i7 in store!!! I am far to impatient to wait a week.. id rather drive a couple of hundred miles and get my mits on one TODAY!! so.. do some stores carry the i7s????

I got my i7 stock configuration at the Apple Store in Jacksonville, FL (Town Center Mall) on Saturday. They had one left!

Good luck

I got my i7 in the Dallas area. They had several in stock.

I picked 2.93/1tb/4gb from Liverpool. Walk in, 30 min later walk out with one. Perfect.

My local store here in Los Angeles carries 5 configurations: The 4 you see in the online store plus a 5th one, which has everything that the configuration matching the high-end 27" $1999 Quad core i5 2.8GHz has, except that it is upgraded to the Core i7 2.93GHz CPU, for $2,199.

This fifth option is also displayed on the showroom floor with price. I'm sure this is true for other stores around the country as well.

Good luck to you! ;)

What was I thinking?

Finally gave up on my $2500 POC Dell and bought a 27" quad core Imac. I could not be happier. What was thinking? Should have made the switch years ago. Live and learn I guess.

Congrats! :) In case you're experiencing a culture shock, just load up Windows 7 x64 through BootCamp and you'll feel right at home. If you're anything like me, however, you'll dig OS X and not really use Windows at all anymore, unless you're a gamer.

If you are a serious gamer, you'll be able to run just about every last game at the highest settings. The ATI Radeon HD 5750 is amongst the highest end video cards of ANY platform (ranked #26 as of a few days ago), and with its 1GB of GDDR5 memory, along with the Core i7-870, we're good to go. :D

As far as I'm concerned, "Mac vs. PC" and "PC's are better for games" is over. :apple:

SUCCESS!!!!!!! I found one at the apple store at the falls in Miami!!! Thanks for the advice, guys!!!! I had given up on an in-store purchase... guess I was wrong... this is my first post from my i7 imac!

Anyone know about gaming benchmarks after the latest patch for games at native 2560x1440?

I cant find any mac sites that have benchmarks:(

Went by my Apple store in Richmond VA. They had an i7 but only with 1tb. I am looking for 2tb. Guess I will need to order on-line this weekend.

What do y'all have for a hard drive in your i7 iMac's? My previous THREE all had the Seagate ST31000528ASQ (last one without the "Q"/same diff.).

However, my i7 iMac has a nice and quiet Western Digital! :D WD1001FALS-40Y6A0, to be exact.

Which store in LA?

Still waiting...

I'm still waiting for mine to arrive. Should be here Tuesday. The hardest part is checking the FedEx tracking and seeing that it has been sitting in a shipping facility in Sacramento for the past 5 days.

Here's a pic of my setup. I've had my new i7 for 9 days now. Besides the speck of dust trapped in the LCD panel, it's a dream!

I have a BTO, or rather I am on my 2nd one. I am thinking of returning this one, but want to try to do it in store and not have to wait a week plus for another replacement.

You'll have to send it back to where you got it from unfortunately, which is what an online store rep told me when I asked if I could exchange one in-store if I bought it online. I'm really glad that I chose the local store route, as I had to return mine 3(!) times. Pretty sad, but in my case, and this is going to sound a little crazy, but I'm almost glad that I had issues with the first three, because that got me into a 2010 model (my first two were from before they were announced :D) and I also realized that I did want a 27" after all, not just the 21.5" model. I also had an extremely lucrative $ incentive, and my 27" Quad Core i7, the fourth iMac I purchased in about six weeks, is just flawless! :D (Pound on wood!)

I've gone Mac crazy lately. I love the Magic Trackpad, too. And I'm really looking forward to the new MacBook Pro's with IPS displays and possibly even multi-touch capabilities, which are supposed to come out later this fall.

By the way, what kind of screen test applications are there? Shades, F.Lux, what do these apps do? I know F.Lux puts you to sleep lol...

Just picked up my new i7 at the Apple Store in Nashville, TN. I'm upgrading from a 13.3" macbook pro and I must say, the screen on this thing is immense. So far, I'm loving it!

Any Display noise?

Hello I got my new iMac last week and I realize that if I put the display brightness, when the computer its hot, let say playing games or editing movies, to something less than 70%, on the left top side I hear a buzzing noise.
I heard and read other people having this issue, but I also heard that it doesn't happens under windows which open the possibility of a software fix.

Can somebody confirm this?

Thx.

Gustavo
