I think the way you put yourself across gives you a lot of leway in other people's minds ;) There's a very fine line between informed speculation and idiotic desperation unfortunately!

How do people think I put myself across?

I am sorry to you too tallest skill and everyone. I predicted what other rumor sites predicted which turned out a negative. Did you read my other thread tallest skill tell me what you think in there.

Sorry, nothing. Don't worry about it.

Are you talking about the simultaneous iMac/iLife '09 release? It makes sense, but I can see a Mac Mini update at the same time, given the nVidia boards showed up in kexts for both of them.

Thanks tallest skill and everyone I appreciate it. But it does make sense right? even funnier dude I was watching the keynote video today and Phil is like to upgrade it is $79, family pack $99 and he said of course this iLife 09 is free on any new macs haha I started laughing. Even when I was listening to it today I was like iWork 09 released today and iLife not??? something mysterious there. They should of been released together? so that made me think well iMac and Mac Mini revision when iLife comes out. I give Phil a lot of credit he did well he did look a little nervous well heck I would be nervous too. Overall it was good ive seen better but like he said today was all about the "Mac". He should of clarify and said today is about the "Mac Software". Even though the 17" Macbook Pro everyone knew that had to be updated one day and they could of done that on a random Tuesday. They just wanted to show the amazing battery life up to 8 hours!!! which is pretty amazing. Thank you all for everything bye.

I really have to agree on this. I do not know what to believe.

You're very welcome. Now do us all a favor and take a break from posting your "predictions" (original or taken from other sites) here for at least 6 months.. but maybe even longer. That would be real nice ;)
I do not understand why though? and why 6-months? so everyone in the world thought there was going to be a new iMac and Mac Mini. So your saying since my prediction was wrong I cannot post anymore. Haha I thought it was a free country. What if I wanted to post in a month I can't. I am sorry to all I was wrong everyone was. So I guess all the people who posted predictions for an iMac and Mac Mini cannot post for 6-months. I made a prediction and a guess that I thought might happen thats all. It happen and lets all move on. I'm sorry hitekalex I am not mad at all. Just making a statement thats all and wel lets all move on until they do come out.

If you are gonna "predict" what other sites have been predicting, then it isn't really called a prediction, but a mere "report" which all of us pretty much could have read from these sites. I'm sure unless you have some untold insider's stories not being rumoured around, then all you are doing is just requoting on old rumours and beating on a dead horse. The way you wrote came off as if you knew what were coming, but eventually proved your ignorance and bring shame on your "certainty".

Don't try to be a smart ass next time, and even if you can't curb your fortune-telling addiction next time, try not to come off with a I-know-it-all-it's-coming-today tone. People flamed you not because you were wrong with your predictions, but your smart-ass attitude. Get it?

Lesson for today? YOU KNOW ****!

I'm sorry okay geez please don't be mad I was just joking around. I don't want to argue with people i'm a good person I don't argue. I respect what you say and your right i'm sorry please do not get mad. I will not be posting for a long long time. Ok sorry to all.

WOW.

My new 24 incher is still a current model.

I can sleep now.
;)

Haha, I feel the same too! Just got my first mac 3 weeks ago.

NyMetsFan08, everybody makes mistakes, and we should be forgiven because we've learned from. You should not feel threatened or hated because you posted an "informed prediction."

People are still angry over Macworld, hence their mean words toward you - so don't feel bad! If half of the people here despise you, just keep in mind that the other half still loves you ;) Take care.

It is fine to post accumulated information from other sites as it can be helpful for people to see. The main point is to clearly post that you are pulling rumors together to show what is expected to be released. You should also state that you don't have any inside information and that your opinion is based on multiple rumor sites so the likelihood is high.

Many of the people responding and flaming you also read those other sites and would completely accept your post being mistaken as all the rumor sites were mistaken which is obviously where you got your information from. People are just frustrated because it did sound like you were 100% confident it would happen which really couldn't be possible since you were taking the information from rumor sites.

I think people's concerns are that you will come back at the next event and do the same thing (which you kind of have been by explaining why the announcements didn't happen). Inf fairness you don't have any idea why they weren't announced. You are speculating that they weren't ready or that the timing wasn't right.

Your apology would go further if you attempted to change your ways in posting. For starters use phrases such as "I think" or "Perhaps a reason". You will still get sarcastic responses (this is the internet) but you will also get a lot more support.

That being said don't feel that you need to stop posting. Forums are a great place for people to discuss and speculate as well as get excited for new products that will eventually come.

i would think that Apple would have an update for the Mac Pro, as well as the Mac Mini and iMacs', alongside the 30" cinema display... Apple always makes all their announcements on the first day in the keynote speech? I know that Canon and Nikon (as well as other companies) have announced new products twords the end on PMA and photokina..maybe apple will do the same, like a big bang exit from macworld?

OP: Just because this is a "rumor" forum doesn't mean you concoct information out of whole cloth, and post it expecting everyone to start feeding on it. Why didn't you just say that MacWorld would introduce a dual quad core 32" matte display iMac? Or how about a Mini Pro with HDMI for $499? That's not what this forum is for.

What makes this forum any good is that a given rumor might have reasonably legitimate basis, or a derivative of one.

This is all to say nothing of your forum credibility with posts such as these.

I don't care if you make predictions. Just use paragraphs and better punctuation when you post.. Every time I finish reading one of your posts, my mind feels like it's out of breath. :-o

a) *Pshh...* I do that all the time!
b) Fortunately, I have real reasons behind my predictions based on clock speeds, release dates, and past upgrades. :p I wrote a huge thing on Blu-ray in Macs a short while back explaining when we'll actually see Blu-ray in Macs. I'll repost it if someone wishes.

Yes, you do and it's clearly arrogant as you are trying to portray one in the know.
You don't have real reasons, only speculation based on current technology which makes your claims baseless. Just like many other speculators here.

Man, how funny would it be if Skil was actually somebody in the extreme know, like Schiller, Ive or even Jobs? You'd have egg all over your face ;)

Funny, then... that I've been right more often than anyone else in my spec predictions.

Have you read my recent (huge, sorry) posts on the future of Blu-ray and OS XI? For both of these arguments, as with my spec predictions, I compile as much information from what we know in the technology industry as I can, process it, and then support my position with what we have seen.

Any talk about the future brings the word "extrapolation"; the matter at hand is that I'm not a salt-water taffy puller, here. I don't do that amount of extrapolation. I connect the dots that we have at the present and formulate the position of the rest of the dots to finish the picture.

A good analogy is that of the concept of speculation on "Planet X" in contrast to the accuracy of the Titius-Bode law. Due to gravitational perturbations in the orbits of Uranus and Neptune, astronomers fantasized that a large planet beyond the orbit of Neptune existed that was throwing off their calculations. There is STILL a small community who believes that there is this grand, giant planet out there that is throwing off our calculations. This represents many speculators here.

On the other hand, the Titius-Bode law is a mathematical (shameless plug here for iMacmatician. Hi, man! :D) construct stating that bodies in space orbit at semi-major axes exponentially. While it has been proven wrong once (screw you, Neptune), it led to the discovery of Uranus almost EXACTLY where the law said it would be. Also, it postulated the existence of something between Mars and Jupiter, leading to the discovery of Ceres, the largest of the asteroids, and then the rest of the asteroid belt. This is what I do. I take what has been shown to be true from the myriad of sources necessary to back my argument and from that I postulate the future.

Case in point right there. ^

There's a difference between 'predictions' and 'facts'.

Since you are predicting, start your posts as such. You can't just start threads with "xyz is going to happen". Try "I think xyz might happen. What does everyone else think?"

Easy peasy. Everyone's happy.

I'd agree, unfortunately Tallest Skils almost discredits his posts by the sheer arrogance he displays - often a sign of some form of insecuritiy. Shame really as his speculation is as valid as the next persons BUT he does seem to have a tendency to present it as fact to the exclusion of others. A bit of humility goes a long way and actually works in your favour when trying to communicate a point of view.

DUDE! You are 19. How many times have you been right over the last 15 years?

Easy peasy. Everyone's happy.

Except the people who assume otherwise and are then immediately disappointed by Apple's announced "shortcomings".

I used to preface everything I said with, "We know nothing," and then proceed to say what I believed would happen.

I stopped because the only people who ever claim to know the truth have one to three posts and are immediately discredited.

I figured that, with as long as I have been here and as many posts as I have, people would know that I know no more than anyone else, as, if I did, Apple would have fired me LONG ago.

I guess I just assumed that people would be forward-thinking enough to take what I say with as many grains of salt as they do what anyone else says.

DUDE! You are 19. How many times have you been right over the last 15 years?

I got the specs for the new MacBook and MacBook Pro correct. I got the specs for the first aluminum iMac correct. I think that I got the specs for the Penryn MacBook Pro correct, but I don't remember.

It's still to be seen whether or not my Mac Mini specs were right, and it's still to be seen whether or not my Mac Pro specs were right.

If they are, I'll let you know. If not, then it proves what I just said–I know nothing more than any of you–and I'll change my prediction to be more optimistic or pessimistic in the future based on the discrepancy between what I think Apple will do and what they actually do.

Wow, you managed to predict that Apple was going to use hardware a step or two behind the rest of the computing industry.

Like spcdust said, get over yourself. You're not as great as you imagine yourself in your head. You're more rude and annoying than anything else.
