I bought mine (iPad Pro 12.9, space gray 256GB)in an Apple Store yesterday after waiting for a while.

Just for the record:

- In case a new model is released within 2 weeks after the purchase you can return your iPad (App Store).

- They didn't recommend using fast charger (29W adaptar + USB-C - Lightning cable). They said you end up compromising the battery life.

- It took me like 40 min to update from iOS 9 to 10.3
Omg that bugs the hell out of me, updating ios seems to take forever the other day i updated my iPhone 7 to the 10.3.1 patch keep in mind its only a 40mb update it took like 15 minutes? That seems entirely excessive for the size of the patch same thing on MacBook Pro it updates slow as molasses

Random - it was still on iOS 9?

I really wouldn't worry about causing harm to the battery by using the 29W adapter. There's an excellent thread on faster charging here on MR if you search, a lot of good discussion on the topic. When I used the 12.9 for a while I used the 29W charger with it. Using a 10 or 12W felt painfully slow.

Yup, still on iOS 9.

Well now that my return period has passed, Apple is now free to announce their event.
You got lucky they could still do a April event Though if not then June if not then October, lol although I doubt it because I think they will want to compete with Microsoft and they are supposedly refreshing Surface in May

I still have a few more days left to return mine, but to be honest, I'm enjoying using my Pro 12.9 so much that I really don't care any more if a new model is released.

Keep telling that to yourself. You know you instantly want the new one, after its release

Why may? The rumors predict the surface for april.

I still have hope as a couple of retailers here in Canada are sold out of all 12.9 and lots of the 9.7 inch models
too now as of this week making me believe the second half of April is when the new pros are coming

Here in Holland the 12.9 is not in stock until May 4. Hope this means the refresh is near.

Same here in Sweden. But the 32GB is available, and considering that is the cheapest one it makes sense that they have a few until the new one is released. But the 128GB in different colors etc is only in stock May 4th.

yes this has to mean something as shipping times had improved but a now pushed back again I still feel April makes the most sense for them for iPad

In Germany all 9.7s are available for next day shipping, but every 12.9 model is said to ship in 2-3 weeks.

I'd say 12.9 spec update is coming, 9.7 will stay as it is for now and the rumored 10.5 is coming in fall.

The 9.7 will then be kept as the "entry-level Pro" with only a few low spec options available and they'll call it a day.

Yeah I agree probably a 12.9 spec upgrade coming

Same here in Singapore (where I live). All iPads and even all Apple main products (e.g. iPhone, Macbook Pros) except the 12.9 inch iPad and 8 Core Mac Pro have exact delivery dates; the 12.9 inch's is shown as "2-3 weeks" while the Mac Pro's is simply "Currently unavailable".

Also not sure if this helps, we do have IT shows every quarter of the year, where many retailers will gather in one big place, set up booths and sell stuff at (somewhat) better prices and/or showcase new products. Usually, there will be iPad offers for all models, but this time round (March 2017), the 12.9 iPad is not even available in the show. Take a look at the links for a better idea

September 2015: None, as the iPad Pro was released only a few days after that fair

Are we there yet?

Where's the guy who started the "It's confirmed, invites are out" rumor?

iPad Pro 12.9" are currently shipping in "2-3 weeks" in European online Apple Stores (the 9.7" ships in 2 days)

Would orders be automatically upgraded to Pro2 if it comes out at the same price in the meantime? How did that work out the other times this happened?

IF an event was happening this month that would show off a newly redesigned iPad Pro, it would be pretty impressive that there has been zero part leaks for it. Besides devices that share most of the same form factor (iPad, iPhone SE), when was the last time a re-designed product was announced that we had not seen a part leak for?

That's a good example. But it was announced and shown half a year before it started to ship. Any prototypes had likely not yet left Cupertino at the time. Something like the iPad or iPhone have significant production ramp ups so they can start moving millions of units within weeks.

Something would have to be coming soon, as its already been confirmed that a 10.5 inch iPad Pro has entered limited production. They wouldn't be producing already to do a launch in Fall.

While I don't disagree, we should be careful to use the word confirmed. There's really zero actual evidence to show that 10.5" production happening. Good rumours perhaps, but nothing confirmed.

I understand how confirmed might be a strong word but to heck with it, after all the website is called MacRumors.:D:p

LOL. I'm sure it's quite probable that some production could be happening for testing of the 10.5. But it's probably not too close just yet. Unfortunately.
