LOL. I'm sure it's quite probable that some production could be happening for testing of the 10.5. But it's probably not too close just yet. Unfortunately.
Ah but the speculation continues, as the current speculated production would be enough if they do a US only launch and spread out as production ramps up.:D

They might just put it on their site. I can see the iPad mini 4 getting a spec boost to an A9 chip and the iPad Pros getting A10's. They will probably save any new features for wwdc.

? Nothing leaked on the new iPad, seeing no leaks doesn't indicate a product isn't coming.
True. I guess I should clarify: when it comes to new designs, no leaks mean no new designs, hence why the "new" iPad wasn't leaked.

Probably the same reason why the 2017 iPhones haven't leaked, they're 7s's with the 8 being delayed a bit.

Or Apple is just preventing leaks really well at least photo ones

There really wasn't anything to leak. Not to put down the new iPad, but nothing in its hardware is actually new. It's the chassis of an Air 1 with the processor of an iPhone 6s/SE.

I suspect that to some extent Apple allows leaks in order to generate hype. But if the frame of the new iPad had leaked it actually would have generated a lot of disappointment since it looks like a downgrade to the iPad design of 2013.

Ipad pro 2 release will happen at wcdc 2017 , they' ll show us a preview of ios 11, that has new ipad pro features only. It isn' t the hw that needs updating it is the os for the ipad pro.

I'd like to suggest this rumour may have some merit and here's why. When Steve Jobs (god rest his soul) was running the show, a certain 'level' of update was made to all their product lines and all to a super strict time table. Stories of him being an arsehole to employees to meet these deadlines were not uncommon. Tim Cook on the other hand has thrown this routine out the window which includes any sort of strict time lines for everything other than the phones, security about product leaks and also the way they announce new products - the last iPad release as an example.

It's a possibility, but I don't really believe that, history has proven otherwise for Apple.

And the iPhones are likely 5+ months away, so still plenty of time. Where with the iPad we're speculating about an April launch in which case if the 10.5 is coming we likely would have seen some part leaks.

A sudden refresh of the 12.9" is always possible (though I think improbable). But new redesign at this point might not even be ready for WWDC.

I would say, that whatever si being produced in china - leaks.. so, there is a chance that new ipad is made in usa - no leaks... that is possible scenario, more possible is that there is no new ipad in production:)

Whats with the iPad commercials? Everywhere I go I see them. And it is not connected to my search history because I search for iPad news. When I am at other places the iPad Pro Ad's pop up everywhere: YouTube videos, sponsored instagram posts etc...

I just don't know why?! Either to get rid of stock. Maybe to burn into peoples brains that the iPad is THE laptop replacement and not the surface.

But would it make sense to advertise the product that much if a new device is coming? Some people would not care of course but some would be angry.

As I stated before in this thread, I still think this is all about the cold war Apple and Microsoft are facing right now regarding the ultimate laptop replacemet/hybrid device. I mean the next device, for Apple the iPad Pro and for MS the Surface Pro 5 is going to be key for the development in that segment. With the first iPad Pro and the Surface Pro 3/4, people see that a hybrid device is really working in todays world. And the company who makes the right step in the right direction will have such a big advantage. A couple of days ago we have MS stating that the Surface Pro 5 will only be a minor upgrade. Is it? Or is it just a way to tell Apple: "Guys, the Surface 5 is going to be like the Surface 4, you can release your iPad now, nothing will change". Then Apple releases the iPad Pro 2 and a week later MS comes with a massive update on the surface pro 5. I think both companies want to be ahead of the other one and therefore want to release their device after their adversary releases their device to add possible features and beat the other device.

Just some thoughts..

This is the thing about Apple's advertisement, they just say "the iPad Pro can replace your laptop". Knowing Apple's current naming scheme, the new iPad Pro could also just be named "The New iPad Pro", similar to the MacBook Pro line.If the next device fits the generic naming scheme, the commercial still does its purpose and sells the next iPad.

The commercials are meant for those who know very little of the iPad line, or Apple in general, and the commercial will sell the current, then next or even the one after that to the people they are targeting. They'll just pick up whatever is the newest iPad when they go in the store.

Yes I agree.

I gave up waiting. I bought the iPad 5th/7th Gen for $299 at Microcenter. I have no regrets. It meets my needs for a nice screen to read comics and books on. I'd liked to have a 9.7in Pro or a mini Pro, but really, I don't see myself using the pencil much.

I'm waiting till the end of April to see if a 12.9 refresh will happen.
I hope the 4th of May availability means something but nobody knows.
If nothing new appears before then I'll buy a first gen 12.9, perhaps a second hand, I'm not going to wait till WWDC or later.

I am waiting for the surface pro 5 and iPad pro 2. Then decide which one I get. Also I might buy the iPad Pro thats out now if the price drops massively with the new one released. Does not make sense to buy the iPad Pro now unless you need it right now. If the new one comes out you can decide wether you want to buy the new version or pay less for the old one.

As a person with iPad and SP4, these are not really devices you can compare directly. One is a fully featured PC, the other is not. If I am looking to do nothing but reading, I find the iPad better due to its weight and longer battery life, but anytime I want to actually work or do anything more that type off a quick email the SP4 is definitely the better device. i actually find my day using a mix of both, but more heavily using the SP4.

Yup, I am discussing that myself. What do I really want to have. A laptop that can be a tablet(Surface) or a tablet that can act kinda like a laptop but should be only used as a tablet(iPad).

But how do we know that you're not both crazy? Lol
I can't give you any evidence to the contrary...o_O

Since I'm starting flight training on Wednesday, it's an iPad for me (other platforms aren't supported as well as iPads), and I'll wait for iPad Pro X+1 9.7in or 10.x in. Might as well buy one for the next 5 years, as it'll be my EFB for a while.
