Anybody here remembers what happened on the eve of October 20 2009?

http://www.fakesteve.net/2009/10/were-going-to-have-news-tomorrow.html

http://daringfireball.net/linked/2009/10/19/tomorrow

And then it all (mostly) happened the day after:

https://www.apple.com/pr/library/20...-New-iMac-With-21-5-and-27-inch-Displays.html

brand new imac designs and brand new magic mouse...all with a press release and that's it, no event, little fanfare, just the new products popping up on the store

Imagine if that happens for the bezel-less iPad Pros this friday....imagine if that has something to do with the HUGE ipad-PRO-brand-awareness TV/web ad campaign Apple is currently running in US and Europe (not sure about other regions)...it's like the Pro is ready for prime time, all of a sudden...with new models sporting a new chassis of their own (instead of the old one mostly inherited from the Air2) and keeping the old 9.7 Pro1 as a lower entry price option...

Anyway if one adds
- time for the Pro2 to actually be available in "brick and mortar" online stores (for discounts, coupons, etc.)
- time for quality cases to be available
- chance of the new models having hardware bugs or -gates

I'll probably won't regret that much having settled for a Pro1 three days before the launch of Pro2.

If it even happens.

Found this today. iPad Pro 10.5 inch case from chinese supplier.

Also there was a new leak on the SP5. If it is released soon I think the new iPad Pro also will be. They say the SP5 might be released or announced in late April or at the MS Build 2017 (10.-12. may).

I have been using this type case on my current iPad3 and like them. Could it be a ploy to sell cases as the 10.5 is supposedly the same exterior dimension as the 9.7? Just my thoughts and would love the 10.5 to be very close to release.

EDIT. ONE THING I NOTICED IS THE CAMERA OPENING IS TEAR SHAPED INSTEAD OF ROUND. Sorry didn't mean to shout. It's the same on the 9.7 pro case too so who knows.

This and the other one posted earlier both share a hole centered on the top (on the same level as the main camera cutout), which the 9.7 doesn't need and the cases for it don't have it either.

Any ideas what purpose that serves?

No idea; there is no text that explains that hole (or anything else for the matter)

Second light sensor for even better TrueTone?
Something related to augmented reality?

Blimey, everyone's folding! Patience boys, patience please. :D I'm hanging out for the newbys, when they do arrive that is!;)
I almost folded yesterday

It wouldn't surprise me if they had a event soon as they have a history to do events before competitors and if the Surface Pro 5 might get unveiled I'm sure Apple would love to come out with these new Pro's I'm expecting a late April invite to a Early May event

Seems weird though since WWDC is in about 7 weeks.

I'm expecting a sometime 2017 invite to a sometime later in 2017 event to a sometime even more later 2017 release.

do you have a inside source ?
Yah, Microsoft xD Apple was simply waiting and now they are going to announce everything to leapfrog Microsoft, they need to now since apparently Surface is "best" now and iPad isn't, good lord I think those stupid ratings are so pointless since you cant say 1 device is inheritly worse than another especially when they serve different purposes.

Hadn't realized WWDC was so close.
I predict iOS11 to be a bombshell of great magnitude (user switching, "Wacom"-mode paired with macs, new UI that also benefits OLEDs, 64-bit only, "Finder" app as an evolution of current "iCloud Drive" app, automation from "Workflow", etc.) with exciting hardware announced on stage as icing on the cake.
Since that hardware can't be the iPhone for obvious reasons, it will be iPads.

Anyway come the 15th this thread should be seriously renamed to "The iPad Pro2 is almost certainly coming" for the lulz of it.

I'm expecting invites this week with a event in later this April to undercut the just announced Microsoft event on May 2nd.

I honestly don't think Apple is worried about Microsoft. The more I hear from Apple's perspective, the more I wouldn't be surprised if they look at the Surface and think its a piece of junk. Apple's philosophy is that they don't want to make concessions for their tablet. Like it or not, Microsoft made concessions on their Surface. The downside for Microsoft is that the iPad offers a better experience as a touch-enabled device because that is exactly what it is built for. On the other hand, because Microsoft made concessions, they have a device that can do more than the iPad with a desktop OS. So the user experience is impacted but at the same time, it offers more utility.

All that in mind, I think Apple really doesn't see a touch-enabled desktop OS as anything to worry about because it impacts the experience. Why not get two devices that offer the best experience, depending on what you are doing...at least, I think that is Apple's thinking.

So no, I don't think they will feel the need to hurry and release the iPads before Microsoft's announcement. It also would look bad for Apple since it would be a sign that they think they are losing to Microsoft in design and development. Basically it would be a veteran Samsung move if they did that.

P.S. I actually use a Surface 4 for work and I do all of my work on it. I would rather just use a laptop to be honest.

I think they are.

Pretty much every review said that the Surface Pro is the best thing out there if you want a tablet, but need the functionality of a laptop.

Now here comes Apple, spending $$$ on ads all over social media to show how much better the iPad Pro is than your traditional laptop.

Hah I hope they look at the Surface as a POS that's how I see it (my opinion)

Event incoming :D

Any undercover MS employee here?

Surf-what? With Windows?

iOS for the iPad is the only real tablet OS with one metric ton of real tablet apps. Period.

Marketing wars are a thing and are real, but being "scared of" something completely different has no root in reality. Surface are just laptops with detachable keyboards without iOS + 1 million ipad apps, deal with it.

Valid points but I think Apple was positioning the iPad as a laptop replacement before the Surface was even getting decent. In regards to some of the reviews, I personally don't believe it has much credit with the average consumer. The reviews are done by techies. It reminds me of how us technology and gadget enthusiasts were aghast that a USB connector was not included with the iPad. Another example is how they want to use a mouse on the iPad. I personally don't see the appeal. Why use a mouse for iOS? It would be a small pointer clicking on these giant icons that are meant for your fingers. I can see it maybe to be more efficient in word processing to select text but....other than that, I just don't see it. I think it would look ridiculous.

Apple's philosophy is to use the best device for the task at hand. Some of the technology community disagrees with that. They want an all in one device but that comes with concessions that Apple is not willing to do.
