8 gigs? Possible. It is a radical redesign, and adobe will be releasing a Full version of photoshop for the ipad pro next year. If not 8 gigs, I say the new pros come with at least 6 gigs of ram.

I don’t think prices will increase like iPhone.
iPad is no iPhone, they can’t get away with it.
iPad market is much smaller than iPhone and in fact it’s a declining category unlike iPhone.
If they put crazy prices on it,it’s basically the end of iPad.
The whole tablet market is very fragile, they won’t mess with it,I’m sure.

Wait a second, wasn’t the iPad back up on increasing sales the last quarter and we all assumed the decline is history?

In the tablet market overall there isn’t much competition anymore it seems - nobody wants to win against the iPad’s established market share and no other product is remotely selling this many units for tablets.

Jeez yeah, can't imagine using photoshop even with just 6gb of ram, 4 would be just brutal.

Regardless of how much RAM there is, you most likely won't notice it because hopefully it will be well optimised for the system.

Sounds good, let me try opening that 2gb photoshop file from work with hundreds of layer comps... oh wait

Lol I hear ya. It all depends on what people are doing I guess. I just don’t bother with mobile for photoshop and I’ll go laptop or desktop with high RAM because I have the flexibility of using such devices. Props to those that use the iPad for such work though, that’s awesome.

Dude if I could draw on a MacBook that would be my dream, right now I have to connect this bulky thing called Cintiq for drawing, which is not something you can carry around really.

It more for future proofing the device to me! RAM is very cheap now a days and a GB is like nothing in terms of cost.

Being able to draw on the Macbook track pad would be awesome, since i don't see Apple doing a hybrid anytime soon i think that is probably the best we can hope for. Imagine if Apple had made a device like the Surface Book instead of Microsoft, i have a feeling people would flock to it, artists and content creators would love it.

iPad sales increased because of the new low cost iPad 2018 that supports Pencil.

RAM has a cost involved with regards to power consumption - 8GB will use twice the power of 4GB - granted this is a small percentage of the overall device consumption. I'm all for more RAM but it is a balancing act in a mobile device.

I don't know for certain but i dont think this is true at all.

So the decline is stopped and with potential new Pro models might even improve further.
I was not talking about sale decline or sale increase of iPads.
I was talking about the possible pricing of new iPads and that Apple is unlikely to increase their prices as much as iPhones, because the iPad market is very different and not as widespread and popular as iPhones.

I am selling away my beloved iPad Pro 10.5" tomorrow half because I am no longer a student so I don't use it as much anymore and half because I'm looking forward to the next redesign that's rumored to come this fall. (Which would make resale value of current iPad go down a bit)

I'm planning on going back to school for a higher degree in a few years so I'd inevitably be coming back to the iPad line for education purposes if not for entertainment. So far it's been pretty quiet for iPad related rumors so I'm wondering if it will come out this year or not. I'll probably end up buying the second or higher iteration of the new redesign though.

Just a pipe dream but I wondered if that rumored smart connector on the back of the iPad could be for laying the iPad down in a clamshell like case, that essentially turns the iPad into a keyboard when docked. Imagine a MacBook Pro with no keyboard, but a space to lay an iPad in. That way you’d have two screens and the graphics editing possibilities would be amazing for designers. I know it’s a crazy thought I’m still just trying to make sense of that rumored smart connector placement.
