I hope these speculations come to fruition, not that I need to upgrade my 10.5 but I most certainly will:D. Nature of the beast I guess!

Apple has to build value into the iPad Pro, there will be no 2018 iPad Pro.
We would have had a CPU leak or anything
March 2019 right after Samsungs Galaxy S10 release that's when Apple will steal their headlines with a new iPad Pro.

We know there will be a ‘Fall 2018 iPad’. This has to be the iPad Pro. There is overwhelming evidence that it will be this month.

We are approaching mid october and where are these exact leaks ? I doubt there will be an iPad X coming this year , maybe spring if lucky it was pretty clear they stuffed everything into these new phones and watches also XR is still not released.

3/10 chance at best.

This was found in the 12.1 source code. There’s been the case and the CAD too.

And if they release it in March when will they release the regular 2019 iPad?

Yeah there’s been a ton of leaks. Besides that would be the first time ever apple would have not released a new iPad in a year.

Aside from the “fall 2018 iPad” code discovered there’s also the bezeless & home button-less iPad icon that were also discovered as well. There’s also code that points to Face ID for the new iPads in iOS 12 too. With all of these things do you guys REALLY think that Apple is going to have them there for no reason whatsoever for half of the iOS version’s lifespan by not releasing until March of next year? If that was their plan then none of that stuff would be there yet...it would show up in a future iOS update shortly before releasing the new iPad. Plus, the regular iPad will be updated in March prior to the end of the school year in hopes of school district ordering for the following school year. Apple isn’t going to release the Pros then as well.

Agreed. Just depends now when in October/November it is. Because of the Q4 earnings call on November 1 I'm guessing they will want to get them out before then alongside the XR, so I'm thinking an event in the next couple of weeks with invites in the next few days.

Agreed. The most likely dates are 16-18th it sounds like. We know the following week Tim Cook will be in Brussels giving a speech on the 24th so that week is no good for an Apple event. I didn’t know about the earnings call on November 1st until now...so I’d have to say taking that into consideration the week of October 29-November 2nd isn’t really a possibility anymore. You're right about the earnings call...it’s not going to look so good if they don’t cram a few more products out there. Judging by availabilities the newly released iPhones aren’t doing as well as they’re accustomed to seeing. With no other new product releases in the last six months or so, other than watches, they need to release some new updates soon. Watches are selling well, but Apple can’t rely on just watch sales.

Hoping this comes to pass soon. I got the iPad Pro 10.5" last week and returned it. I can wait another couple of weeks! My 12.9" is starting to grate on me though. I really like the 10.5" form factor. The 12.9 is just too bulky for me. I have a Macbook Pro for when I want to take a backpack. I liked the 10.5" being able to throw it in the car and go shooting photos or something. Really nice. The 12.9 -- not so much.
Every time I go into the Apple store I always explore all the various products, and every single time I see the 12.9 iPad I’m shocked at how big it is...

If they kept the chassis around the same size but reduced the bezels I’d consider one lol. Heck, a 15 inch IPP would be awesome, I use my 12.9 as a second monitor for my laptop when I travel so the larger size is ideal.

Yeah it's definitely a big, beautiful screen. I do feel like iOS is still kind of limiting on a screen of that size.

I don't know if it would be better to shrink the bezel to the current screen, or increase the screen to the current casing. But my guess is that the 10.5" iPad will increase to fill its casing and if that happens Apple would likely want to increase the larger iPad to keep a notable differences in the screen sizes.

FYI the smaller iPP could expand to 11.3-11.5" and the larger iPP could expand to 13.4-14.4" keeping the same dimensions (depending on the bezel size). Source

If... and it is an IF... there is an event, then I would expect the invites to be announced on Tues 9th (same day as the google event). That would suck the Oxygen from the Google announcement.

...oh and there will be a Google tablet (pixel slate) announced on Tuesday. So there is some competition.

I’ve just learned not to get excited or pumped up when it comes to iPad Pros specifically. The first was good, but had no DCI-P3, second had dci-P3, but was far too small and had half the RAM.
Gen 2 for both saw a redesign for the 10.5” but not the original Pro. The biggest let-downs were no A11-X or haptic home button.

*first world complaining, I know, but Apple has missed the mark every time the past 3 years.

I’m crossing my fingers that they do hopefully release an iPad Pro with new Apple Pencil, better LCD (no more light bleed or white dots,) thinner bezels, Face ID, USB-C, more RAM... and especially the A12X processor.

They lack effective competition. That allows them to direct their efforts elsewhere whilst still being dominant.

Personally, I’m not all that picky. I just want to upgrade from my 9.7” IPP to a 12.9”. Had to sell our MBPs to help pay for a septic system replacement for the house we bought last year so our IPPs are what we use the most nowadays. As long as Face ID works in landscape like I believe it will now, I’ll be happy with whatever Apple puts out with the new IPP. I’d be happy with the current generation if it weren’t for the fact that new ones were about to be released. My current one is plenty fast enough as it is....just want a bigger display now.
