Anyone have experience with the Sena LeatherSkin grip case? It looks very similar to Apple's but without the metal buttons. The gray one looks like it could work quite well on a black or jet black phone.

I finally got my Nomad gray leather case for my 7+. I'm actually surprise how nice the case is. It also proves my point that that the Nomad leather cases sold at the B&M Best Buys were probably damaged by shoppers since the packaging opens very easily. If you do decide to buy a Nomad leather case, get it online.

I currently have the Apple leather in storm gray. The Nomad gray looks more black than gray but when it's on my MB 7+, you can tell it's not black, but grayish. In different lighting it'll show more black or more gray. I like this look. The storm gray is a very nice color also. They are just both different colors and you cannot expect them to look exactly alike.

The feel of the leather is also very different. The Apple leather feels smooth where as the Nomad feels rugged. Some might say rough. This does not mean one leather is better than the other. They both feel like high quality leather. The Apple does feel slightly more slippery in my hands.

The inside of both cases have microfiber lining. But the Nomad has more coverage in that the microfiber goes higher up to the corners.

I was able to get a great discount on the Nomad. 25%(3 or more accessories) plus a $20 credit for delayed shipment. So it's about $23. I ordered 2 other items as well. Kenu airframe+ and Speck Presidio Clear+Print(for the wife). The Speck is going back. Too bulky.

The Apple case comes out to about $55 for me. Is the aluminum buttons worth an extra $32? What about the Apple logo? How would people know I'm using an iPhone? :)

The Apple case is a great case but the open bottom and with the price, I'm starting to believe that it's not worth it. Maybe if the price was a little lower.

The Nomad is at a great price point, even without the discounts I got. I like the fact that the bottom is covered.

These 2 cases are very similar. Cutouts on both are top notch. They are about the same size and both feel great in my hands. I have no issues accessing the mute button on both. The power and volume buttons are functional on both. The Apple does have an advantage though. The bottom on the Nomad is protected, which I prefer. The only thing I dislike on the Nomad is that the case doesn't go over and wrap part of the screen like how the Apple does. Does wrapping part of the screen protect more protection? It is raised and does provide screen protection when laid face down. It just doesn't go up and wrap part of the screen.

I really wished that the Apple case provided the bottom protection. If it did, I wouldn't mind the price. But being the 2 cases are so similar, except for the price, I choose the Nomad over the Apple. I'll probably return the Apple and keep the Nomad.

Bump. I'm still deciding on Sea Blue or Tan. Saw pics of Tan after a month use earlier in this thread, would like to see more if anybody has any pics of either.

Just snapped a pic (one of me holding it) for you after month of use. Not sure how much you can tell due to lighting etc but hope it helps. It has definitely gotten darker.

Edit: adding a pic from when I first got it. Lighting is different but at least you get an idea.

I had the apple leather on my 6s (dark blue) and was very happy with it. I had no issue with the open bottom and the one time I did drop my phone it was on a corner and no damage except for some leather scuffs which gave it more character. The buttons worked well enough after it got used a little. The leather got darker in time, but not near as pretty as tan does. Overall happy. Got the Tan apple leather on my 7+. The quality was top notch and the patina was coming on nicely. The leather was slicker though. The metal buttons felt and looked great. For me though they were just too sensitive after coming from the leather on the old. You just barely touch them and they connected. Anyway I was still very happy with it.

The nomad kept calling out to me though. I like the thought of a protected bottom (you just never know how it will fall and where it will hit) and I thought it would help with the ever so slight splay at the bottom of the phone with the apple case. There were none in the Best Buy store, so I ordered one through them. It arrived yesterday and my first impressions were very good. Leather had better texture, the wrap around the corners were as good as the apple case I had. The micro fiber inside the case was good. Time to try it on. It fit extremely well. No spay at the bottom. The buttons worked well enough (like my old apple leather so I'm sure they will get better as they wear in). The cutouts for the speakers and the silent switch were good but not spot on. They were just a little low, but acceptable. The cutouts were a little sharp edged also, but I think they will get better as it wears also. Returned the apple leather and gonna try this out. Again initial impressions are good. Will see how it is after a week or two.

I did dabble with the Veil XT. It is like no case on the phone and looked and felt great. Just worried about how the plastic might expand over time as many have mentioned. Still on the fence about this one, but will probably keep it

Are you still satisfied with the Nomad? I am on the fence about picking one up as I have always used the Apple Leather in the past.

I actually stopped using it. It because the case wasn't good but because I wanted a more universal case that I could use in all conditions. I don't want to worry about not trying to get my leather case wet or anything and any stains getting on it. So I found it was best to just rock with another case for my daily.

Thanks for the reply...I will further consider this as a possible option. The price point seems fair compared to lets say Apples leather case. I am hesitant to spend $80+ on a Vaja having all the buttons exposed but I am sure the quality of the leather is on point.

Yeah the Nomad case is very nice don't get me wrong, I just didn't know how he longevity of the leather would hold up. I may potentially go back to it but I enjoy having a hard plastic and TPU case.

I have the storm grey case too, but mine looks significantly darker than yours. Interesting.

My experience with Apple's leather cases are they develop a very nice wear over time, causing them to have better grip. They've always started out smooth, but I guess when they wear in, they wear in quite nicely.
