Thank you for confirming the issue with the looseness on one of the corners.

It bothered me a lot that I ended up returning it and buying a new one. To my amazement, I noticed that the new one has a light grey gasket on the back cover of which my first one didn't have. Upon popping it off the box, the grey gasket came loose which wasn't even existing on my previous one.

So my suggestion, make sure you have the above mentioned gasket.

Also, the new unit has a better seal on the lower right hand corner.

So if I were you guys, for the amount of money we paid on these, make sure that you have one that meets your requirements.

Question for the current owners: Can you put pressure on the lower right hand corner while holding the phone with the face in front of you, the one with notch where you can insert a coin to pop it open?

Does it feel like that it compresses like it is not fully locked, unlike all the other parts of the case which feels solid?

Not difference noticed on mine. It's pretty solid.

No water warranty available on the Nuud phone cases. No matter where you buy it. Only for the Fre.

Thanks, I was going to post that as well. ;-)

Just picked up a black one at BB. So far I'm liking it. The Fre I bought a few weeks ago will be going back next week. Home button ever slightly crooked, but I probably wouldn't have notice if I hadn't been following this thread. #

Anyone notice that the back clear plastic now acts like a speaker baffle since the membrane that blocks the speaker holes blocks the sound? If you listen and feel the back clear plastic, this is where the sound is coming from...

Dont you just hate it? Whenever we seek for reviews or comments about a new product we have purchased, we end up seeing the flaws.

I have always wanted a Lifeproof case for my iPhone 5. I'm glad I held back considering that they have just recently released this Nuud version.

It did the same thing with the Fre.. Difference is, with this one the entire back is clear plastic, whereas with the Fre it was only a small square around the apple logo which acted as a speaker.

I think this is why the nuud sounds better than the Fre, because its using the entire back as the speaker this time.

Why are people leaving front screen protectors on when lifeProof highly recommends takin them off? The gasket is meant to seat on the glass of the device. Nothing like ignoring the manufacturer's advice on a $600 device. LMAO
Let me explain my reason for doing this. I got a decent quality screen shield on (Best Skins Ever). I worked hard to get it lined up just right and installed without dust particles stuck under it or air bubbles. It looks great. I also like having the freedom to switch cases or even go without a case from time to time. If I take the lifeproof off, or switch cases I don't want to have to install new screen shields every time. This is just my personal preference. I remember my 3GS got scratched up without a screen shield. I know the newer iPhones are more scratch resistant, but I would rather have more protection. As long as this case is water "resistant" I'm ok. I don't understand why the seal would struggle against the thin screen shield. Maybe someone can explain it more scientifically.

I see three potential seal issues if you use a full size screen protector...

First, the seal between the two halves of the case will be strained. The phone with a full size screen protector will be slightly thicker than what lifeproof designed the case for, so there will be additional force trying to separate the two halves of the case. This could cause that seal to fail and allow water in.

Second, some screen protectors are not perfectly smooth. The seal around the screen works by sealing against the perfectly smooth glass iPhone screen. If the screen protector has some texture either because it's anti-glare or just because it's not perfectly smooth then there could be leaks around the screen here.

Third, if you do put the case on with a screen protector and leave it that way for a while it may compress the rubber seal around the screen so much that it doesn't decompress all the way if you decide to take the screen protector off later. At that point the seal could stay so compressed since it had a thicker phone in there that it won't seal properly around a naked phone anymore and it could leak.

Now, all that said, I certainly don't work for lifeproof and I don't know how likely any of these are to be actual problems, and clearly they would be more of a problem if you take your phone under water rather than just out in the rain since there will be significantly more water pressure with the phone under water. If all you want is protection from an occasional raindrop, then leave the screen protector on and you should be fine.

Personally, though, I use my phone in the water and I wouldn't trust the case to be waterproof when lifeproof has stated that it should not be used with a full screen screen protector.

Great points you have there. Your third reason is why I returned and exchanged my Nuud case after removing my Invisible Shield and installing the one provided by Lifeproof.

So much better than the Fre thus far, the screen looks much higher in quality. Typing isn't a nightmare anymore, however I don't like the slickness of the back.

Sorry if this is a repeat post - I was trying to read through all the pages before bed but couldn't make it.

I've heard that the case still vibrates on back piece whenever the phone rings/music plays/on speakerphone. Can anyone confirm if this is true, and if it is, how bad are the vibrations? I had a
Fre for a short period and whenever it rang it felt like it was on "ring and vibrate." I love the idea of a waterproof case and want to get all my facts straight before I take the plunge!

PS - I've been lurking around MacRumors for awhile now. I'm a regular over at iMore but definitely want to start becoming a more active member here!

It does vibrate the on the back, but I am not sure if it is the point of the phone being set to vibrate. They claim the vibrating is how they get the sound from the phone. I don't find it to be an issue at all. I also had the Fre and did not think it was that bad, but I would say this is maybe a little less.

Yikes, you mean your first ones didn't have the gasket at all? That's definitely a bad things. Good thing you returned it!

Interesting - now I'm wondering if I got an older model case. The vibrations on the back of the case were horrible. As strange at this sounds, it was difficult to hold the phone while it was ringing because the vibrations were so bad (I returned it but now I'm thinking I got a bad case). Ugh, I'm stricken with decisions. I change my case regularly, so I'm not it's worth the investment (however, it would be nice for outdoor events and random thunderstorms). Someone sway me and make my mind up for me haha!

Well this is what I would say. If you don't think you will use it that much then go with the Fre because it is cheaper, but if you want the best lifeproof has the offer go with the Nuud. It sounds better for the most part, and you should have no issues with vibrations.

I find that the vibrate is very loud and annoying. Especially when the phone is sitting on my desk at work. I never had a fre. Is this typical for this case? I had to turn vibrate off but now I need to constantly look at the phone for any new notifications.

Wow I really don't have that issue. I like that it vibrates just a little more. It just does not seem to vibrate that much more with the case to me.

It's typical for an iPhone, with or without a case, sitting on a desk. I solve this problem by sitting the phone on a table of paper or anything else that will dampen the sound a bit.

I actually LOVE that the vibrate is so good. Thats the biggest complaint some people have is that you can't feel it when its on silent. Now I can leave it on silent more without fear of missing an important event.

You definitely want this case. It's awesome, and I used it in the river all day yesterday.

-sent from the shower.

It is a great case isn't it? I have not seen a case nor do I think I ever will that gives this much protection, but also gives you all the functionality of the iPhone. Best case to date.

Yeah. I think if anyone has a gripe about this case, theirs is defective, and needs to be exchanged.
