Whats the consensus on the sound of the nuud? I just returned a red fre because of the unnatural and low speaker. Would like to pick up a nuud, but only if the sound issue is fixed. Thanks

Well after almost a week with this case, its going back. It is the best Lifeproof case but ultimately the bezels and sound issues kept me from being able to use it as a daily case. $90 for a case I will use occasionally is just too much.

I am running iOS 7 beta 3 and the bezels really interfere with Control Center. I didn't usually have any issues with Notification Center. I know there is another poster that said this is not the case but with my phone it most definitely was. I could get it to activate 1 out of every 3-4 times I tried. I took the case off and it is no problem ever. Maybe as the betas progress Apple with make Control Center easier to activate and it will alleviate this issue. I also just am annoyed with it typing as well.

Finally the sound vibrations are bad. I never had this issue with the Fre as it was more muted but with the Nuud, the sound would distort and crackle.

Overall it is the best waterproof case out there. I'm not knocking it at all really if you have to have this type of protection. I just cannot justify $90 for something that cannot serve as an everyday case without these issues that are important to me. Wanted to add this in so those out there on the fence may see a dissenting viewpoint.

Unfortunately, I think this is a pretty subjective question. Some people think the Nuud and the Fre sound amazing and others think they sound terrible. There also seems to be some fluctuation from one particular case to another. Because it is a waterproof case and they need to have a membrane over the speaker to keep water out I think that it will always be of lower quality than the naked phone.

Personally, I think the sound quality of the Fre and the Nuud are similar, but the Nuud may be slightly better. That seems to be the general consensus on this thread as well. If you really didn't like the sound on the Fre case I'm not sure the Nuud will be enough of an improvement to make you happy, but it's possible that you just had a bad Fre case too.

Well what I was kind of afraid of it happening. I am at work for the first time since I got my Nuud, and I am keeping my phone in my pocket (I don't have the belt clip. Not a big fan of belt clips). Dust and lint from my pocket are starting to collect in the corners of the case, and in the cut outs for the front camera and speaker. Not a deal breaker, but it does get really old trying to keep it clean. That was the one thing I really hated about the Otterbox defender case.

A potential alternative to the nuud. Click Here.

Interesting product and I'm very happy to see another waterproof case coming out. I'm a big fan of waterproof stuff in general and more competition is always better. Plus there have been a few times where I would have liked to have a waterproof case with an extended battery. Unfortunately the case is pretty huge and downright ugly, but I imagine there's room for improvement before they go to manufacturing. The other thing I'm not happy about is that it just has rubber plugs to cover the ports. I'd be afraid that I might accidentally catch the plugs on something and accidentally open them while the case was underwater.

I'm also not sure that's really a good comparision with the Nuud given that it still has a screen protector... it might be better to compare with the Fre case. Right now the Nuud case is the only waterproof case with nothing covering the screen of the phone.

I don't keep my phone in my pocket, so I'm sure I don't pick up as much lint, but keep in mind that the Nuud has one big advantage over the defender... if you start picking up lint and such you can just take the phone to a sink and wash it off. Should be a lot easier to remove anything on the screen with running water and maybe a little soap.

Yea that is true. I am going to take it to the sink in a bit. I still love the case and it is miles ahead of the defender. Just a small thing that bothers me a bit. Also what do you dry your and case off with after washing is off? I have microfiber cloth, but it still has some dust on it, so it puts some back on the screen.

I already use the iBattz Mojo Refuel and have the nuud (used when needed), so this will be interesting to watch develop. I also like the 'zip seal' solution versus the gasket.

I haven't washed the Nuud yet, but when I would wash the Fre I'd usually just dry it with whatever I had on hand... paper towels or a hand towel... occasionally my shirt. Or I'd just shake it off and let it air dry. I guess with the Nuud and the exposed screen I might need to be a bit more careful about what I dry the screen with.

On a side note, you can certainly get a lot of interesting looks if people see you walk up to the sink and run water over your phone;)

Yeah, I'm not sure it's the right case for me... I've gotta say that I'm still pretty enamored with the nude right now, but like I said above, I'm glad to see more competition in the waterproof case arena and as the first waterproof case with an extended battery I'm sure they'll find a market.

Yea I know. I had a friend at work that did not believe me that is was waterproof so he wanted to dump a bottle of water on it. I said sure go ahead. He was mad because it work and did not break my phone.

As an inshore fishing guide, I've been using Lifeproof cases since they first came out. I have found them very serviceable for someone like me who needs almost constant water protection. Like all waterproof cases, they have had some issues but never enough for me to give them up. I was provided a Nuud case to review and will be trying it out this weekend on the water, but so far I am mightily impressed. My major interests are to see how the absence of a screen protector does in the bright glare in terms of being able to see the screen; tests around home suggest a slight improvement but the glare off the water is a whole different animal. I'm also assuming the case will fit the 5 Lifejacket. If you are an outdoor kind of person and don't like the clear back, a friend makes some outdoor related iPhone 5 skins and he just emailed me to let me know that his skins fit on the Nuud case with no problems. This is the website for these hunting and fishing skins:

If you click on the home page you can see some of the skins in much better detail. I had one on my 4S for two years; never faded or scratched.

Well...picked one up yesterday. All was great....until I tried using my phone as a phone. Two different people told me that I sounded like I was at the far end of a tunnel. In both situations I had to take the case off just to complete the conversation.

Back to my Fre....which I didn't have any issues with.

Here is a tip for anyone having issues with other people hearing you on calls or them hearing themselves echo back while you're using the nuud. Take the case off and check all the seals inside the case - especially those around the mic and speakers. I was having problems with people hearing themselves echo back when I was using speaker phone. When I took the case off, I discovered that two black seals on the inside of the front of the case near the charging port were not lined up correctly and were blocking off the opening. Once I re-alligned them and put the case back on, I have had no issues since. Hope this helps.

Just noticed that my replacement unit has a slightly lose home button. Is this the case for most of the current owners? I may return it I may just receive the same condition. How is it for you guys?

This is likely the case with mine...but I can't see how to "re-allign" it. It seems to be stuck down really well. i'm afaid I will tear something.

Mine was smashed down so bad that the top of the seal was on the bottom causing a complete blockage of the port. I used tweezers to very carefully move it back into place. Then I placed the phone in the front part of the case - bottom first to be sure that the phone sat on top of the seals and didn't move around. Then I snapped the back on.

There appears to be a membrane which is glued to the case. Then, there is another layer and then the black gasket...I'm referring to the microphone side which was in the photo from my previous post. When you re-positioned yours did the black gasket separate from the middle layer, or did they move together? Mine came out with the black gasket stuck to the middle layer. I repositioned it and it does seem to sound better, but I'm concerned I messed something up.

Mine never seperated or came out and mine was also the mic side. It was like it was smashed down and it was either that way out of the package or I caused it when putting it on because I realized it within a couple of hours of the case being on. When I realligned it, the membrane/glue slid with it into place. I held it there for a bit with the tweezers to be sure it was going to stay and it did. So, I placed my phone back in the case and am hoping that the phone is now holding it where it should be. I haven't taken the case off again to be sure though. If you are in doubt, I would exchange it. I'm feeling pretty confident with my repair and I just happen to have a case with a straight home button so I'm scared I may not be that lucky with an exchange. I'll check mine once I get home and I may exchange it later in the week once my BB gets more stock in now that I know what to look for as a potential issue.

My home button is ever-so-slightly crooked but not loose at all!

At first I thought mine was tight but a quick way to check is to tap it lightly. If there is a little movement or play, it may be on the lose side. Just wanted to confirm prior to another trip to Best Buy.
