Here's our review guys, hope this answers some questions or concerns :)

Good review. I think it covers pretty much all of the major points and questions that people might have.

One minor nit-pick though... you start the review by saying "A year has past since we published our review of the Fre waterproof case", however the Fre wasn't available until early November of 2012... so at best, 8 months have passed since your review of the Fre:)

Thought I would show off mine with my skin on the back.

ooh... where did you get that and did it fit without modification? My wife was a bit unhappy about giving up her teal Fre for the black Nuud, so she ordered a teal front and back skin from skinit that I'm hoping will fit without too much trouble. I imagine the back shouldn't be too much of a problem, but I'm thinking I might have to perform a little surgery on the front.

According to the tracking number, her skin should be here tomorrow.

www.**********.net has all kindles of skins for the LifeProof line. Nothing for the nüüd case as of yet though. But they are pretty quick.

All one word. Pain in the ass!!!

Hmmm and that's the nuud or the fre?

Nuud case in black.

It is the rapid wraps tiger strip for the fre. I actually had it for my fre when I had it, and took it off that one and put it on this.

The front pieces won't fit because the holes are different at the top, but the back piece works perfectly. I like it a lot cause it gives some extra grip and also protects/covers up all the little scratches I get.

I'm glad to hear the back fits perfectly, but I was kind of afraid that there may be issues with the front. I may try to take a knife and a ruler to it and see if I can make the front fit. Although, quite frankly, I'm not sure how well the front will stick to the new plastic too. Once the skin shows up tomorrow I'll let you know how it goes.

So there has been a lot of speculation in the rumor mills that the iPhone 5S will have a fingerprint scanner. It's always been a bit of a concern in the back of my mind about how lifeproof and the other waterproof case makers will deal with fingerprint scanners. I certainly don't want to give up my lifeproof case, but I'd hate to not be able to use the fingerprint scanner either (assuming it actually does exist when the phone comes out)

But here's a new rumor that may suggest that the Nuud case has a big advantage...

Apparently they are speculating that the fingerprint scanner may actually be embedded in the screen on the iPhone 5S.

Honestly I would not worry even if they did not put it in the case. Why do I need a finger print scanner? The whole idea seems so stupid to me. If people say for security reason. Well I got news for you. Your fingerprints are all over the screen. If someone steals your phone all they have to do is pull the finger prints off the screen where you have touch, and they are in. Honestly this sounds like on of those features like Samsung has on the galaxy phones, or the face unlock on android. There is really no purpose in having it other than to say you have it. I love the lifeproof, and I can say is I hope they don't give it two thoughts when they make the next case. Fingerprint scanner just does not sound like something Apple would do. They usually have features that have a purpose. This does not.

With regard to those considering using the Fre back with the Nuud front (I personally like the Fre back much better)....this is directly from Lifeproof:

Thanks for your inquiry. To clarify, the nūūd back casing will work with the frē front casing however it will not work the other way around. You cannot use the nūūd front casing with the frē back casing - it will not be watertight.

It may fit on there, but I wouldn't count on it being waterproof.

I don't want to take this thread too far off topic, but you make an interesting point... I suppose there will be fingerprints all over the phone. Hopefully if they do choose to implement this technology they will do so in such a way that makes it difficult to use a fingerprint lifted from elsewhere on the device.

That said, though, I think the technology would be used for much more than just unlocking your phone. People are speculating that starting with the passbook app Apple is looking to get into the whole mobile wallet arena, and the extra security of a fingerprint there could definitely be helpful.

Yea. I guess so. Just hope they don't do something big to mess with this case. This is the best case for the iPhone, and I don't want to some fingerprint scanner messing that up.

Hello all. First time poster here. All the info on this is great. I have never spent this much on a case before. However, having 2 kids i hate having to switch in between a slim case and otterbox so i decided to give this a try. I picked up this case a few days ago, but had to exchange due to sound quality. No one could hear me.. etc. The new one i have sounds perfect but the home button is very loose. Going to just return it and get it from a verizon store to be eligable for total water protection. I just have a few questions that I don't think have been answered. First, I hear a lot of people saying they wanted it just in case it rains. Is this case really meant for what lifeproof shows and features in pictues? Taking it into the pool, letting your child take it in the tub and such? Second, I have noticed the only real flaw to myself that no one has mentioned is that speaker phone mode is pretty useless.. Everyone just complains about hearing their own voice echo. Is there no way around it, or is that just a sacrifice if I'm going to keep this case? I've been on the fence about it on wether to get a different kind or not. But you're answers would greatly help. Thanks again for all the great tips.

On another note - I don't have any issues with talking to others over the speakerphone, has worked great - in fact, I just tested it out while I was typing this :). You may have another defective one?

Sad that since some people have no use for a new technology, don't understand it, or can't see how it could be used past the obvious, they dismiss it as 'stupid'.

In 19th century England, such people were called Luddites. Click Here

I do understand what a fingerprint scanner is, but I don't see why Apple needs to put one on a phone. It will be no more secure than the iPhone is now. If it added something functional to the phone sure great being it on. Adding something just to say you have a feature is pointless. Anyways this has nothing to do with the Nuud case, so I am done talking about it.

So with the whole belt clip mess. I went on the LP website, and when you click on the Nuud accessories they have a belt clip. Will that one work with the Nuud perfectly?

What belt clip mess? I know that initially the top clip didn't seem to come down all the way quite as we'll as it did with the fre, but now it seems to be clipping down better. I dint do anything to the rubber nubs. I have used my clip every day at work, running, at the gym for the past week. Not once has it come loss or fallen out, and I don't use the "lock" feature either.

Ok I saw a lot people posting saying it was not fitting right. Just wanted to see if the one on the site for better.

Yeah I know. And I did notice the top clip not going down fully like pictures here, but like I said it does in fact work fine. It doesn't fall out and you can lock it if you want. I would bet it is the exact same clip. Maybe they change the rubber nubs, but I doubt it. LifeProof said all over their Facebook page that all the fre accessories work with the nuud so I don't think they would bother to spend the money to change up the production of what they already had going.

EDIT: in fact, if you read the description of the belt clip on the LifeProof web site under the nuud accessories, it says ,"Built for your LifeProof fre...." Haha.

Oh thanks man.

The Best Buy near me has had all Nuud cases returned by their customers. Most returned it due to the exposed screen.

Then the customers are fools. Did they not realize what they were purchasing?

That's what I was thinking too. Well except the fact they're not fools lol. Maybe those customers want the piece of mind of a screen protector and didn't like the tiny protector Lifeproof provided them. *shrug*

Some of those customers opted to return the case for a Fre or the Otterbox Armor.

I'll take em off their hands for a discount. Open box item pricing. :):D

Many of us use iPhones in a corporate environment with security policies that mandate a long alphanumeric passphrase to be input before one can use the phone. This is extremely inconvenient and time consuming. Imagine having to enter a 10-digit passphrase with letters and numbers just to make a call or check an email. Now multiply that by dozens of times a day. fingerprint authentication that allowed one to bypass manual passphrase entry would be an absolutely killer feature for us. I'd upgrade just for that feature alone.
