New lifeproof nuud iPhone 5

Griffin Survivor + Catalyst. Granted its not the nüüd / bare screen, but it was a much better feel than the Fré case. And is $69. Had one & loved it. Then they had a 40% off sale and got another one for the Fiancés phone and she still uses it.

Not sure what the material is they use for the front screen, but its the closest to glass (other than the atlas case) I've found. A little boxy, but not much thicker then the LifeProof cases.
 
Just got my nuud case today.

Did the water test just for fun - and because I was somewhat suspicious of the case since the original Lifeproof I had way back when they first came out (before the Fre even) was garbage.

Came through the water test with flying colors. Love that the case doesn't have any sort of screen protector - in my opinion, the screen protectors are what ruin all of these "super protective" cases - I even pulled the screen protector out of my Otterbox Defender. They ruin the display quality (which doesn't scratch that easily to begin with.)

I am curious if the rest of you have noticed your case being just a bit puffy on the back - like there's a little air underneath the clear back or it just isn't made to rest flush with the iPhone 5 back. Both times I've put my iPhone in it today, it's been like that and it was that way with the "test" plastic piece as well.

Otherwise, I'm loving the case so far.
 
Thebrowncoat - I'm LOVING this case too. Worth every nickel, dime and penny!

As far as the back of the case goes, mine sits perfectly flush. I don't have any give when I touch it.

Interesting...it's very minor, but you can feel just a little give when you push around the edges of the clear plastic back. I think there's a little raised piece in the center of the back - two little ridges - so I think that's the cause.

Mine isn't flush either...and I think if it was flush you would have vibration issues big time given the type of plastic used for the back.
 
My back is not flush either, especially near the camera and flash. But it doesn't seem to cause any problems.

Probably true. It already vibrates a bit when the speakerphone is used, but that doesn't bother me too much. Not a major issue.
 
Getting one for free from my work and going to try it for a bit. My one question is will it work well with my zagg smudge proof screen protector (or any zagg screen protector for that mater). Any one who has tried it let me know. Thanks.

I had a Zagg Kiosk install the HD version front and back the day I bought the nuud. I waited for a day to dry prior to installing the case. The back of the case ruined the corners of the Zagg so I ended up taking it off. I tried installing it with the front successfully but ended up removing the full front screen protector just to have a piece of mind. Honestly, I think it would work with the front Zagg but but only with a slightly tighter fit.

Anyone else here use the nuud with a full screen protector, water test?

If anybody ends up in this same situation, try putting your screen shield on the blue plastic fake iphone before you throw it away. That way you can test how water proof the case is with a screen shield without having to buy a new shield just to test.

Mine does *not* rest against the back of the phone... I think they use that to amplify the speaker.
 
Can anyone confirm if the Nuud will work with an SGP glass TR screen shield on the phone?

I have this screen shield on my iPhone but not sure if it would still fit inside the Nuud?
 
My case fit great with a Best Skins Ever on the front. You could get a cheap one off eBay or Amazon and install on the fake blue iphone that came with the case. That would be a way to test the extra thickness.

I've handled my share of these cases and I'm just not convinced the tolerances are that exact. They aren't making this stuff for NASA.
 
Ok so I've had this case for just over a week now. Exchanged once. Newest one I have works great so far. Improved audio etc. Just have a couple questions now. Why do you think a total water protection program wasn't offered with this phone? Do you think one will be given as an option eventually? I never owned a fre so maybe it was the same way at first.

I've also noticed a little bit of wear on the corner from removing the case with a coin 2 times or so.. I will take a pic when I can but is this normal due to the rubber material used? It's got me questioning the longevity of the case.

My home button on this one slightly sticks out and seems rather loose compared to the first one I had. I'm not OCD so it doesn't bother me that much but is it a bad thing? Wasn't sure if it would lead to a more serious problem.

I wish we didn't need that adapter to use any non-apple headphones... I lose mine every. single. time. My fre adapter? Gone. my Nuud adapter? Gone.

How about you take it off and put it on the dummy iphone and water test it for us??

if it doesn't work, then at least we ALL will know, if it does work, you can get a replacement for a cheaper price, and it will help our Nuud community know if the tolerances are actually that tight

Take the case off and check all the seals inside the case - especially those around the mic and speakers. I was having problems with people hearing themselves echo back when I was using speaker phone. When I took the case off, I discovered that two black seals on the inside of the front of the case near the charging port were not lined up correctly and were blocking off the opening. Once I re-alligned them and put the case back on, I have had no issues since. Hope this helps.

@UMRebel Thanks for this information! It worked and now caller can hear me. Now I won't be returning it. Now I just need to try it out underwater :D
