A screen protector to go under the screen protector on the Fre? Lol uhhh...I'll be sure to let everyone know if mine leaks, if it does i'll pay $50 to get a new one so ultimately I'm not super worried.

I thought this forum was to provide other people with first-hand experience but maybe not! Enjoy the instruction manuals.

It Wasn't the Fre it was the first batch of LP cases for the iPhone 4 which didn't have a name, and yes back then using a matte screen protector underneath a case with a built in screen protector like the Otterbox defender had was to help stop the oil slicks. That suggestion doesnt fly with this case cause it was designed around a naked iphone and the slightest deviation from the specs could potentially ruin your phone. This forum is to provide 1st hand experience, but you're giving info that could prospectively ruin people's phones cause it's something the company has tested and found out through thorough rigorous testing. And again good luck! :)

This is the thread for the Nüüd iPhone case, not the Fré. Two different beasts.

Yeah I know man, the guy I was talking to was talking about his old LP case. I am talking about the nuud case.

Info that could ruin someone's phone, or answer the question that people have been asking for 23 pages

Gotcha. Was getting a bit confusing. But 'technically' LP does not recommend putting a screen protector on the device with any of their cases. CYA stuff I imagine.

Yeah I know. There were just some people posting in this thread asking if they could do it anyway, and as far as I can tell you can.

I felt like if I had added a big disclaimer on my post it would've saved some headache...

I'm on my second replacement. This one has a perfect home button. Straight and a tight fit even if you tap on it a little, feels very solid.

The lock is tight all the way around with no flexing, creaking on the lower right corner when facing the front of the phone.

I ended up taking off my full body Zagg again for piece of mind. I installed the screen protector in my steamy bathroom perfectly with no dust or bubbles. Loving this case! This is my first and last "real" case. My previous one was those cheap silicone's from Fleabay.

For those thinking of getting a nuud, just make sure you receive a perfect one considering the money you are paying for.

The reason I am really using this case is to preserve my phone's condition so I can sell it at a higher price when the iPhone 6 comes out.

I know there are SOME people in this thread who have the nuud and said they have great quality sound coming from their earpiece and speakers.

I would like to ask those who do, does the sound from the speaker sound a "noticeably" static during music playback when the volume is turned to max?

I know that with a sealed case, some sound degradation is expected, but if some people say they have great speaker sound, I want to know the specific of it!

I can almost eliminate the "noticeable" static noise by turning down the volume, causing less vibration on the back of the case.

But if some of you are lucky to have a case with no static sound at high volume, I would like to know!

Because I may think about exchanging it if I can help it :)

PS for a near $100 case, I want mine to be as good as yours if not better!! :)

I've been using the case for a week and just tested it with water for about 15 min. Took it out and opened the case to find water towards the bottom of the phone. If you look at the picture it seems like the seal for the mic slid out of place. I'm not sure when this happened but I'm going to go swap it out tomorrow.

No, compared to the iPhone 4 and Fre cases. Sound is loud and without distortion.

The seal being squashed would cause sound problems not leakage. The yellow seal on the charge port would be the most likely failure point unless you see disruption of the membranes covering the speaker and mic.

You can definitely see spacing between the membrane and actual cover. Did you drop your phone, remove it many times or anything out of the ordinary? I've noticed the black pads on mine slipped once.. Maybe this is something that's bound to happen with use? Has anyone else noticed anything like this when removing their cover?

If this is bound to that scares me just a bit. I have not taken my case of since installing it, but I don't want to have to worry about it getting water damage because over time the membrane moves just from having the case on. I don't have AC+ so I would be screwed. I feel like LP would have tested this stuff before releasing the case.

Made an account just to post this. I'm currently using a full matte/anti-fingerprint screen protector in conjunction with my Nuud case. I can see how glass covers might not work, but a super thin protector will simply make the seal just a bit tighter.

Just got out of the shower with my phone, works fine

If you're happy with it and it works for you, then more power to you. However, the concerns I would have are twofold. I wouldn't worry about making the seal by the screen tighter, but you're also putting more stress on the seal between the two case halves pulling them apart and potentially causing leakage there. Also, using an antiglare screen protector could be a problem because most or all of the antiglare screen protectors create the antiglare effect with a fine texture on the surface. The seal around the screen won't be able to seal as well against that as it would against perfectly smooth glass. And I would worry about water leakage there as well.

Now, that said, if you're just using the case in the rain (or shower) then it will be under much less pressure than if you take it swimming. I wouldn't worry too much about your case in the rain, but I would not take it swimming. You may want to consider just cutting down your screen protector.

But like I said. If it works for you and you're happy, then go for it, and I do appreciate that you posted your experience. If you're feeling really adventurous I'd love to see the results of putting that screen protector on the fake blue phone and putting it in the case and then putting it in a bathtub or other water and really pushing it around through the water to see how watertight it really is.

I assumed that the tolerances were not scientific so I used the protector anyway. Rubber stretches folks, .01mm isn't going to cause that much a difference.

Remember that this is a waterproof case. The tolerances have to be much more exact than other cases or it will leak. I'm not sure about your screen protector, but I did a bit of research and zagg lists their screen protectors as .2 mm thick. If the case had an extra .2 or even .1mm of play it would definitely leak. The rubber has some give to it, but with something like this even a fraction of a mm is still enough to let water in.

I can't believe people are still trying this...LP said NO 3rd party screen protectors for a reason lol.

While I think the concerns of using a screen protector are valid, there are other logical reasons LP would say not to use them. Maybe they didn't want the added time and cost of testing the possibility of using a screen protector so they just say that to cover their butts from customer service issues, warranty claims and lawsuits. It's also not a standard business practice to endorse other similar products. That would take away from the sell of their own screen protectors. I know the case comes with one, but people can purchase replacements. Maybe they will be developing their own full screen protector that "works" with their case. My point is that companies say all kinds of things for all kinds of reasons.

I've never dropped or removed the phone from the case before, so I'm not sure if it was already like that or got pushed out of place during my install.

I'd probably just return the case if it weren't for the fact we're going on vacation to Hawaii this weekend and I'd like to take some pics in the water.

Show me LP's data on testing with 3rd party apps. The reason they say not to is because they didn't adequately test them.
Why would LP guarantee other vendors screen protectors (protectors, not apps) for use with their case when they have no control over their quality, thickness or any other aspect of them?

Answer: They wouldn't waste the time or money. They are guaranteeing their case to be waterproof based on a certain thickness which determines the flex in their gaskets around the screen.

lol picked up a nuud case from bestbuy ( white one for iphone 5 ) and did a water test in a bucket...didnt pass at all!

glad my phone wasnt in it, will be exchanging it tomorrow for another one.

It doesn't even have to do with the make of the various screen protectors, of which there are dozens. Plenty if people can't install them properly. Throw that into the mix and if they claim that their cases work with screen protectors they're going to have tons of unhappy customers.

Anyone notice scratches on the clear plastic back out from the box? Well I tried wiping it with the provided microfiber cloth, soap, and water and it made it a bit worse. Now there are thin hairline scratches all over. WITH A MICROFIBER CLOTH!

Well, I bought another unit and switched the back cover then returned it to Best Buy immediately. I wanted to keep my perfect top case. The new one had a loose home button. I have another 50 days or so to make up my mind. I will be going swimming over the weekend to test my new case.

I may decide to by a Mophie Juice Pack Plus eventually. I just want a case that's well worth the money.

This company also supply... Spam URL removed

Look like Knock off cases to me.... Don't see 'your' company listed on Lifeproofs authorized resellers list.
Especially some of the colors you offer. LP doesn't have all those colors!

I have a question . Is there supposed to be a tiny bit of water on the seal when I open the latch where the lightning port is after putting it I water but no water on the actual phone itself

Yeah that's normal, you're going to get splash back when opening the charge port door after using it in water. It's from the gaps.
