A build in firing pan at the bottom of the computer.

When you wish to cook breakfast, simply run your favourite CPU intensive program. Please be noted that cooking material do not come with the Macbook Pro.

Portable computer != laptop.........................

My apologies we are talking about the next revision not the current model. :D

I'm sure the average consumer is sensing a patern with most of the Mac line now upgraded to C2D. Even the stupidest of comsumers are realising that they should hold off a while because they know that the Mac Book's will be upgraded soon to follow suite.

there is ONE line of mac that's in C2D, that is iMac... there are THREE that are not. how in the HELL did you come up with most of Mac line now upgraded to C2D?

Hmmm dont you think, that if you are going to spend a lot of money buying a better product (than pc's), and since technology is always changing.. a HUGE upgrade from 32bits to 64bits, and more when all the future apps (Leopard, Vista) run on 64bits, you should put PRIORITIES too whether wasting your money or securing your investment? BTW i allready lost a lot of time, and money with a tablet that died 2 weeks ago... now whats more important the $$ or the education + loose time ?? but as you say.. never argue with an idiot.
yonah to merom is not a huge upgrade... leopard and vista will run on 32 just fine, natively.. by the time OS and such aren't running natively anymore, merom would be 2 yr old technology

Why would I buy a Porsche with a Corolla's motor? It doesn't make sense, does it?
that is a very bad comparison, what you meant to say is why would you want to buy a Porsche with a Ferrari's motor.
edit: merged

I'm sure it will last longer then that. That doesn't even cover the extended warranty. ;)

unless i am mistaken the Mac Pro is a C2D chip (Woodcrest), just not a portable one (Merom).
you are very badly mistaken, mac pro is xeon, not core 2 duo, the desktop version of C2D is conroe... and i believe those are the only two versions of C2D

I believe there is a greater than 0% chance that the MBP will be updated on a weekday sometime between now and when it gets updated.
LOL... no, there is 0 chance, no less no greater, that MBP will be updated on a weekday sometimes between now and when it gets updated, it will get updated exactly when it gets updated, not before that.
edit: haha, without finishing reading, now just realized that MovieCutter beat me to it.. and to MovieCutter, the chance of macbook pro update from now til the moment after its updated is 100%, not 70% :D

erm... no... im not. you are. unless i am misreading the following (which is entirely possible).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Core_2_Duo#Xeon

"The 5100-series "Woodcrest" Dual Core Xeon is the first server and workstation aimed processor to be based on Core 2. It has a 1333 MT/s FSB in most models, except for the 5110 and 5120, which have a 1066 MT/s FSB, with the fastest processor clocking in at 3.0 GHz."

either the had it wrong, or i'm an idiot

noticed how Xeon and Core 2 Duo are on the same level?

also, i'm lazy so i didn't read this page, but i did a word search, and the word "duo" didn't come up, which makes me feel somewhat confident that core 2 duo is not mentioned in that page, which means, they just aren't quite related THAT much

edit: wooo... did something just happen, the Xeon paragraph disappeared from the page you gave me. i was gonna go back and read what they are talking about...

Yes, somebody went in and deleted it after seeing it in this thread.

While branded as a Xeon-class server chip, it is in fact based on the Core 2 microarchitecture.

i merely argued Xeon is not part of core 2 duo, as to which is its microarchitecture, it is another story..

but thanks for the clarification.

I ordered my MBP last Monday. It just arrived. I doubt the update's going to be any time soon.

Thats why I'm posting:

Your MBP took 1 week to get to you, mine will 3 weeks! Such a change (2 more weeks ,three days later) seems pretty suspicious to me.

Apple's shipping estimates are always more conservative than reality

I ordered a macbook regular edition. And even though it had a short shipping time frame, it seems the time frame from ordering to reception is between 14 days and 21 days. I ordered my macbook the 25th. It initially was estimated to arrive october 12th. After the macbook shipped from Shanghai the delivery date was set to approx. 8th of october.

Now, Im not saying that there is no way Apple might not refresh the mbp line while your putah is built and shipped. But to me the time fram and changes looks to be "within spec". The mpb and mb are popular and apple keep having to run fast to supply the demand.

I hope you get the MPB C2D of course. I do not count on such luck with the Macbook however :)

Downunder we have been told they are on "runout" or words to that effect and I see stock levels of MBP held by Apple are very low...i would say the release is imminent.

Thanks for bringing this thread back to my point ;-)

All I wanted to do is to give the information I got out of my ordering to the rest of the community. It doesn't matter if I'm a newbie or not, everybody who's sick of these "Merom to MBPs"-threads should just not click on it.

Further: Let me tell you that I'll be happy with anything I get. If it's updated within the 14 days, then I probably gonna send it back to get the new one. Maybe not. But it's just a great relieve, not to be punished to check these forums every day! Yehaaa!

(I'm still writing like I knew that it's gonna be updated :D )

I don't think that is going to be a "choosing" option, everybody wants a C2D!:p

I ordered a MBP CD, so probably I'll get the option to pay less if the MBPs are updated.

But what if a new design for MBP is available soon? guess I'm just drooling with the idea, but, as you, I'll order a CD MBP today or tomorrow... but wouldn't mind if I get a C2D without notice an no price diference!:D

I don't really care what I'm getting as I wouldn't even notice the speed increase.

It just would piss me off a bit, if one week after I got my MBP CD the new MBP C2D is released redesigned and lower priced.

sooo, I finally did it! guess I will disapear soon, when I get it.
Ahhhhhhh, feels good actually, a brand new MBP with a fine 4gb Ipod nano for just 39€..... couldn't be better.
Now, if de bloody merom finally arrives... better be NOW or after January... I feel like wasted 2 month of waiting and mourning and reading you guys,, hopefully my MBP will be a rev b or something like that.

Next time I will want a laptop, will be into 2 years, after Santa Rosa, After :D C4D :D after a 4Gb BTO MBP

The only sthing will get me down now, is a redesign MBP, with magnetic latch, better battery life and no heat issues.... but, guess that won't happend (read that last statement with irony, for those who still are waiting, good luck!)

see ya'

with 24 hours they mean that it will leave their stocks in china within 24 hours, then it will take about 10-15 days before it actually arrives at your doorstep at least thats the time it took my ipod and macbook.

Well I already gave up hope of a C2D, I already have a Core Duo MBP and its incredible but I kinda hoped C2D would come out to swap it right away without losing any money. I have an important presentation coming up and I can't wait to fire up Keynote 3 :)
