After a lot of bashing (and justifiably so) of the OP, as he can not be arsed to do so himself, i'll proffer one feature that I wouldn't mind seeing a Pixel QI screen ;)

Yeah that'd be cool for outside but I don't see apple using it anytime soon. People say there's no need for a camera on the back but I hope they chuck one on there anyway for FaceTime so you can show someone what you're seeing. And it'll be cool if you could call more than one person and conference call on that big screen. Dual core would be amazing too though

needs to have FLASH.

it would give the ipad a whole new complete web experience on a 10 inch screen. :)

Just give it time, soon HTML5 will be the new flash, would be nice though. Too bad apple just hates them cause adobe comes before them in the alphabet.

Yeah I'll end up doing the same too :) :D

:D God I love Apple, just imagine what it'd be like without them. it's weird, ten pages down this thread isn't so bad, all that's left is a very bad taste in my mouth from the first few pages. Don't worry though, if someone new to this 'thread' read my message, which is like the third post on the first page, they would get a warning from me saying to not read on. Hopefully this works.

Agreed - I've been saying that flash is on its way out for the last year and a half.

It is no different then other things in web and design - it has its boom, the effects linger for a while and then it gets overtaken. just as HTML was by CSS, etc etc.

HTML5 will be the standard when it is fully developed, and it will be more versatile than flash. Combine it with CSS3 and its a whole new web experience.

All without the flash magic that all the consumers are begging for now.

I personally haven't missed it at all - I would always close flash websites as soon as they open because 90% of them were designed very poorly and contain massive amounts of errors. It isnt the browsing experience it should be. (Especially true on mobile)

Edit the size of your warning, make it easier to notice ;)

I feel at least partly to blame for this massive thread. I feel justified in doing it, but I'd feel better if my replies had some sort of comeback.

iPad 2nd revision, is on my birthday wishlist :D

I know exactly what you mean. I always feel the need to have the last word in a disagreement, especially when it's regarding someone saying that I've wasted my money when I feel I have not.
Must be the reason why I am no longer engaged ;)

Here a few things it can get..

To make it better than an iphone.

Native file system! It might not be useful on the iphone, but on the ipad!? very useful for YOUR OWN file managment. Peopl have bee doing this for years on a PC, so SJ I am sure the "people" can handle it on an ipad.

Bluetooth file transfer would be nice also...

Of course wireless syncing, but i would imagine that would come to both iphone, touch, ipad one day.

Ipad should have faster everything than a iphone. faster processor, more memory, faster more powerful graphics. I still dont understand the logic behind making a iphone better featured than you 9.7in "netbook replacement"

STOP THE OBSESSION WITH THIN, i dont care how thin they can make an ipad go... i will take a little more thickness to add a little more power behind it..

Thin & slim generally means lighter. With people already complaining the iPad is too heavy for them, it won't be getting any thicker.

It already is faster than the iPhone. System spec obsession should be avoided. There are obvious things such as more CPU & graphical power would be trade off for battery and heat etc...

File system which is easy to manage would be beneficial for some users. A centralised storage location for documents that all apps on the device could have access to.

Yep, I would NEVER EVEN DREAM of letting go of my ipad if it had those things i featured.

It also wouldnt hurt to change up the "grid' style, at least on the ipad. The could make it more of a desktop style... everybody is screaming about the ipad is better because of its screen, but really the homescreen and additional screens dont really take advantage of the 9.7 in screen.

I dont need a retina display on the ipad, but a little bit higher density is welcomed. Heck make it user changable.

I also want to be able to sync things to my ipad, not sync my ipad to things...

That fine, the can make an "ereader" type that is light and void of alot of unnecessary features.

I wouldnt mind a heavier ipad, because I dont hold it in the way the someone would it if they are reading a book. I hold with 2 hands... so its not heavy at all... but one handed in in vertical mode, reading a book... yes it would get heavy.

I like products with heft behind it, ipad has this hefty currently.. I wouldnt mind a little bit more. esp if it meant more features.

then they would be able to add a sd card slot, usb/esata/fw port. ALL would be useful additions.

Spec's matter, alot.

Heck why not stick a keyboard on it too ;)

But then your pretty much in MacBook Air's territory if you need more space, more power, heavier, card slots & ports. File systems, better gpu power. Still highly portable.

The more you add - the further you take it away from it's original context and conception.

You want

Are you willing to pay $800+ for the least expensive model? Remember the cheapest iPhone actually costs $600.

I would totally buy MacBook Air with a touchscreen (no keyboard then of course)!!! ;)

So a product that came out 5 months before the ip4 (and was probably finished with development a good 8 months before ip4) should have better specs than the latter?

That makes no sense. Of course an older product will have lower specs than a newer one.

The NEXT ipad should be faster, but complaining that the current one, because it is a tablet and not just a phone, should be faster regardless of when it came out is just silly.

Edit: typo

Would you be willing to pay +$150.us for a "Pro" model? By which I mean the model that has the card slot, more RAM, and a few extra unlockable features such as file system access (card storage, even time capsule) and remote desktop. I would also like to see some of that bezel get used, as long as it is going to be there anyway. Touch sites to replace volume and screen lock could easily be edge-debounced so that just holding the iPad in that area would not trigger them.

So let me get this straight. Next time Apple releases new iMacs (maybe January 2011), they should be faster and have better specs than the just released Mac Pros, ´cause by then Mac Pro is going to be an older product.

Right, makes perfectly sense.

Did you even read my post?

Comparing two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT computers is not the same as comparing the ipad and iphone - which have the almost same internals. iMac and Mac Pro are not even remotely similar - one is a high end performance/prosumer+ based machine, and one is a consumer level all-in-one computer.

Not to mention the fact I am replying to a post and saying that it MAKES NO SENSE to compare the two because they did not come out at the same time.

A more accurate (and sane) comparison to equate to what I am saying would be:

a 27" imac from 2006 being slower than a 20" imac from 2007.

The size isn't the deciding factor - but since they are the same (or extremely similar) products, then YES the newer version will be faster than the older.

Ah, so now the iPhone and iPad are the same products, like I´ve been saying all along and people have been fighting me on this. Funny how things change!

I think they should be different products, that´s why I made this thread. iPad should always be more powerful than iPhone, no matter if a new iPhone is released 5 months after iPad release.

Your talking about a 3.5in iphone. You are saying that it should be obvious that a 3.5in phone would have better specs than a 9.7in ipad??

A smaller, none "netbook replacement" device, should have higher specs than a tablet. Both of which came out in the same year? within 3 months of each other...

Your logic is faulty... who in there right mind would that that?? "Oh duh, my iphone would have better specs than your tablet"

And you just contradicted yourself:

"iPad should always be more powerful than iPhone, no matter if a new iPhone is released 5 months after iPad release"

Yes, this is my opinion and I´ve never said anything to the contrary.

But in the post before:

"So let me get this straight. Next time Apple releases new iMacs (maybe January 2011), they should be faster and have better specs than the just released Mac Pros, ´cause by then Mac Pro is going to be an older product."

This is "your words" actually. I was being sarcastic and made just as ridiculous comparison as you made.

Seriously? Your comprehension skills are amazing.

Funny when people own themselves like you just did. :D
