How many of you guys use a wireless charger? Does the Nexus 5 have the same wake lock problem after using a wireless charger that the Nexus 4 had? Which wireless charger do you use?

I used a cheap wireless charger off ebay and I never had wake lock issues.

I went ahead and bought the LG wireless charger off Amazon since I had some gift cards. I have the wireless charging orb from the Nexus 4, but I hate it and never used it. So we will see if this one changes my mind about wireless charging.

Glad you found something that works. Do you have the international S3?

Yep.

The biggest difference I notice between both is screen and performance.

The IPS screen has so much more clarity than the AMOLED. It's amazing. The AMOLED even looks dirty next to it. Or maybe it's because its 1080P...

My next phone must have an IPS display too.

I wish the international S3 would have came with 2gb of ram like the snapdragon variant did. I remember when this phone came out and all the fanfare it received in the months that followed. Now nobody talks about it. Hard to believe it's pushing 2 years old now.

I sent the replacement back today. Keeping my original. The replcement did have the slightly bigger buttons and they hardly moved but the speaker holes were the same on the speaker and my mic holes are bigger on my original. Weird but yes, the holes are a slight different size on the replacement for the mic and speaker which was a 312 model. Mine are the same on both sides.

Today I kept testing the Nexus 5.

Recorded some videos outside and in every single one of them there's a constant noise in the background. It's as loud as the ambient noise.

I copied the video files to my pendrive to show it to the store guys if they ask when I go to return the phone next week.

I suppose not everyone has this problem because it is pretty visible in every video recorded.

EDIT: Just search on Youtube "Nexus 5 microphone noise" and you'll see what I mean. I have that problem.

I will wait and see if Google releases a software update that fixes this and if it does then I'll buy again.

With everything turned on, stock drain would be more than twice that of what I am getting with Franco.

Wi-Fi and sync turned on.

Everything else turned off unless I need it.

I don't need location turned on ever.

Im asking to gauge because i only turn off bluetooth till needed , which dont take any juice anyways, and if im not home i turn off wi-fi. Otherwise everything else is turned on but i have location on battery saving mode til i need GPS. I easily get thru a day with my typical use.

In think most people do it that way but wanted to know since you posted your drain %.

My usage is the same with every phone.

At home Wi-Fi turned on always and sync too, but I turn them off at night. No BT, NFC, location, data, etc.

I don't use location because Google Now is useless outside the US and I don't use Maps that often. So it's basically always turned off.

When I'm outside data is on instead of Wi-Fi and sync on all the time too.

That's basically it.

But I do have my brightness at max almost always, so that does drain my battery instead of location

Ah, ok..its just for me to see what you have on when i see how little yours is draining. Didnt know you lived outside the US.

I have my brightness on auto.

For those of you using wireless chargers, do you use it with or without a case?

I tried 2 cases (hard plastic and TPU), TPU case lets it charge OK when the other does not. OTH, it generates heat during charging (I noticed on Nexus 5, it's not much, but my GS4 I can feel it's warmer than usual), so taking off case helps it to dissipate heat faster.

What do you guys have turned on and turned off?

In my experience with the three Nexus 5's in my family, KitKat manages battery life quite well.

That said, I'm now running the relatively new Qualcomm BatteryGuru App. It's designed specifically to manage devices with the Snapdragon chip. It will not work on any other chip. It doesn't do any management for the first 4 to 7 days after initial install, as it's busy collecting usage data & patterns unique to your phone usage. All the while it counts down in days and hours till it will begin serving you. This is displayed in the notification area.

Once mine began managing my battery the results were outstanding. I now enjoy a minimum of 30% battery life when using lots of resources. For simple daily tasks I get as much as a 55% increase in run times. I endorse this app for those looking to let it manage their phone for best battery life. It turns wifi on and off automatically as needed and more. I don't have to disable or manage anything. :)

Interesting. Ill look into that app even though i dont feel i need it.

I got 21 hours with 3 hrs 45 min of SOT and had 18% left with everything turned on and location was on battery saving mode.

Well mine arrived on Friday and I've been playing around. Not put my sim in yet because imessage refuses to turn off and I don't want to miss messages.

I've got a 311 which I think means its not got the revised speaker holes and buttons. They don't seem loose and its loud enough for me. Is it worth returning and exchanging?

Absolutely not.

I have both the early Nexus 5, as well as the latest (just about ten days old). I gave the newest one to my wife, as frankly the differences are so minimal. Not only that, I'm approaching 500 hours of uptime on mine and it's been extremely fast, fun and reliable.

I'm not about to let go of this one, it's a keeper :D

Yeah I'm not really tempted. The screen not coming on when you get a notification takes some adjusting to. The rest of android I know from N7, but it really flies on this thing. Screen is absolutely beautiful. Camera (coming from a 4S) is very average but I don't really care.

Happy so far. Can't comment on battery until I start using it as my phone properly.

Oh and also its massive! Takes a lot of getting used to but I should cope.
