Agreed. If they follow their pattern, there might be a Nexus 5 2nd gen, but a six inch Nexus 6 is a bit large.

There will be a Nexus 6, but with a screen size near 5.2", and of course it will be named Nexus 6

And there is positively no way they'd call this Fall's phone the Nexus 5, just no way.

Can we all just agree to disagree with the naming thing? It is beyond frustrating that every discussion of the next nexus phone (not just on this site) devolves into this debate...Let's keep the discussion on interesting things like specs and design and potential OEMs :)

No matter what size screen the Nexus 6 has this Fall, it doesn't matter what Google names it.

- So the latest rumors of Motorola making it, do you all think that's legit ?

- 5.9" screen size rumor seems way off to me. I can't see the Nexus phone jumping up into phablet territory all of a sudden. To go from 5" on one model, to 5.9" on the next, is a jump I've never seen any phone model make in the course of one year. The typical screen size jump from one model year to the next is like .2" or .3" larger. Like the HTC One M8 went to 5" from 4.7" the year before, or the Note 3 at 5.7" up from 5.5" before.

- My guess is the new Nexus phone having a screen size between 5.1" to 5.3" no larger. I suppose maybe they might jump up to 5.5" to compete directly against the OnePlus One, and show them how to build an affordable smartphone, and sell it :D

I'm at a party, can't post the link. But new rumors this weekend.

HTC is making the Nexus-Six.

- 5.5" screen
- Snapdragon 805
- 3GB RAM

Google wants to make a OnePlus killer, show them they can make a similar phone, but better, for the same price.

Google Nexus 6 Release Date and Specs: HTC In-Charge of Creating the Phone
http://www.breathecast.com/articles...cs-htc-in-charge-of-creating-the-phone-17997/

One thing is for sure, the Nexus 6 will not be created by LG as the previous versions have been. On the contrary, it will be HTC’s turn to create Google’s next release. LG had been adamant about not knowing anything about the development of the next Nexus phone.

There were rumors before that LG won’t be creating the Nexus 6 and that HTC was taking control of the project, and it seems that the rumors have been proven to be true.

The phone will be run by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core 2.7GHz Krait 450 processor, faster than most same-size smartphones in the market. The Nexus 6 will also be having an Adreno 420 graphics processor and 3GB RAM. will have a screen size of 5.5-inches with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The screen will be boasting a pixel density of 534ppi ensuring the sharpest of displays.

Per that article;

Its camera will also be a powerful 13MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing one. The camera isn’t as powerful as the Lumia flagship series, but it is still above most smartphone models

Makes me pass on the OnePlus One that's for sure. The Nexus 6 for the same price with better next gen specs and higher res screen, and running Android 'L' right out of the box, not 90 days later like the OPO

I still dont want it to be 5.5". I hope it is smaller.

Agreed--that display size is firmly in phablet territory and considering HTC's recent designs, we could be looking at a giant device. Other specs seem great however if the rumored 13 MP shooter is the same as the one in the recent Desire 816, HTC One Mini 2 and E8, I'd also worry once again about the camera as reviews have generally been mediocre/lackluster.

So if they just got HTC involved now....when will it be available?

Nexus phone releases, have been pretty much like clockwork every year.

Announced in October, and released in November, and I expect the same thing this year. So only 2 to 3 months away.

I can't argue that.

This link was referred to me by my Facebook buddy who's a very well known Gadget geek and reviewer, and he's usually pretty spot on. But this site I've never seen of before. It's not even a tech site, but some holy roller country site :(

the 1+1 is barely on Google's radar. The average person hasn't even heard of it. Google has, obviously, but to say they want to make a 1+1 killer is hilarious. How hard can it be to kill a phone that the manufacturer can't even make in large enough quantities to openly sell?

"these rumors appear to be true."

*tumbleweeds*

It's a completely baseless article that you just blindly accepted without reading. So while you may have accepted your mistake now, the fact remains that you are susceptible to believing anything you hear :p

Also if your "buddy" is a well known gadget geek and reviewer, he should probably read the articles he passes along. If he exists.

Yeah they don't even mention a source... Or the previous Motorola rumor.

In any case, personally I hope they go as big as possible but common sense would suggest 5.5" maximum and probably smaller than that. Alternatively, they move towards "phablet" territory suggesting that smartphones today are 90% about productivity/media use and 10% actual phonecalls (for me it's probably less than 1% phonecalls honestly), and leave it to a possible project Silver to provide the smaller, more "phone"-like models.

I'm due a new phone but there's not much that appeals to me at the moment. I will wait and see what this is like. I'm looking for a good mid price phone with stock android.

Here is what I would like to see, i'd be happy if it had at least 2 of these thing on my list
  • Unibody metal design
  • Super long battery life, at least 12 hours screen on time
  • Waterproof
  • 64-bit processor, don't care if its Qualcomm or Intel

LOL, then you woke up :D joking

The 12 hour On Screen part, isn't happening anytime soon. Even the best Android battery phones, like the Note 2, Droid MAXX, One M8, are lucky to push 7h maybe 8h On Screen time, if you do everything you can to tweak it. To get 50% better battery life than the Note 2 or Droid MAXX, you'd need a 4,000mAh battery + keep the screen 1080p, not the newer 1440p res, and run the 801 processor. And they could make a phone with a 4,000mAh if they wanted too, especially Motorola, they were very good at smashing down the size of the large batteries to still fit in an overall thin package. I'd gladly take a phone just a hair thicker, for a 4,000mAh battery.

Seems like we take one step forward, and one step back as far as battery life. We'll get larger batteries like 3,000mAh, and more efficient processors like the 801, but then they put in a 1440p super higher res screen which takes up more power.
